Das Hotel hat vor der Haustür die Haltestelle. Man ist in ca. 20 Minuten in der City. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut; allerdings gibt es als Heissgetränke nur Kaffee (keinen Cappuccino o. ä.) oder Tee.

Siamo stati una settimana e devo dire che è andata ben oltre le aspettative.... La camera è grande, spaziosa e ben arredata, pulizia impeccabile, ogni giorno c'è il cambio asciugamani e dispenser saponi, shampoo, conditioner... pieni.
La colazione è ben varia e fornita ed il personale gentilissimo! Soprattutto la ragazza più giovane della reception molto graziosa e disponibile a dare tutte le informazioni.
La posizione a noi è piaciuta molto, in una zona residenziale molto bella e super tranquilla con diverse cose per mangiare, si prende l'autobus n.158 o 159 a 5min a piedi e la fermata di ritorno è proprio davanti l'hotel. In 25 (o 35min se in orari più trafficati) si raggiunge times square. Non la scambierei mai dal caos di manhattan!

The view, clean, good parking

Eight years ago we awarded a hotel "THE WORST MATTRESS AWARD" and hoped that we would never have to hand out that award agin. Unfortunately, the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Edgewater NJ is the newest winner of the award. Prior to our arrival, we reached out to the hotel to request a room that was not near an elevator, ice machine and on a higher floor to avoid street noise, a thing we've done for decades and something that all travelers should consider. When we arrived at the hotel, which is part of a shopping center, we only found a few hotel-dedicated parking spots near the hotel entrance. There was an underground parking lot below the hotel which we believed would provide more parking for the guests. Unfortunately, after driving around the parking area for a few minutes we could not find any signage that identified hotel-dedicated parking and returned to the shopping area near the hotel where we ended up parking. We locked the car, went into the hotel and asked a staff member where we were supposed to park. They said, "you are supposed to park in the hotel's dedicated blue parking area in the underground lot." None of the information about the unique parking situation was provided before our arrival, be aware and LOOK FOR THE BLUE when you arrive. Once officially parked, we checked in to find most of our room requests were filled except, we ended up on the second floor of an eight-story building, overlooking the HVAC systems on the stores behind the hotel, we would have opted for another room, but we were too tired from the ride. When our evening with family was over we longed for a comfortable mattress only to find our king mattress to be lumpy and downright uncomfortable. It felt like one of our toddler grandkids had stuffed their large lego blocks under the mattress cover. We mused, this winner of the worst hotel mattress should be carried around the complimentary breakfast room in the morning to face the ridicule of other guests and then discarded. Finding a spot that night that worked was a challenge and, it was too late to switch rooms. All of the hotel rooms are suites with a sofa and that unlikely seating source was the fallback for one of us to try to get some sleep. Beyond lack of a restful sleep, the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast in a large seating area. Everything looked yummy, but looks can deceive. The scrambled eggs were tasteless (it might explain why so many guests opted for the hard boiled eggs) the bagels and some of the other breads were fresh out of the freezer. No matter how many times you put them through the rotating toaster, they never warmed up. Thankfully, the coffee was good and available 24/7. The Homewood Suites by Hilton Edgewater appears to have been upgraded with new paint, wallpaper, carpeting, but some of the old-school elements are still in place, their in-room HVAC systems are noisy with a thermostat which is dated as is the appliances in their little kitchen. Sometimes that rather nasty phrase, "putting lipstick on a pig" works. Travelers might opt for another hotel that puts a good night's sleep as their top priority.

Location and the cleanliness

The rooms are excellent and very spacious, and the service is outstanding. The hotel is in a great central location, with everything you need nearby.

Mooie rustige locatie, fijne kamers, aardig personeel. Vanaf de waterkant heel mooi uitzicht op Manhattan. De bushalte is een paar minuten lopen en dan ben je na ongeveer 25 minuten in Manhattan. In de buurt zijn wat winkels, restaurantjes, take-aways.
