Location. Privacy. That’s it
I was injured due to a structural safety failure in a shared cabana area when rotting wooden decking collapsed beneath me. My leg went through the floor, causing significant bruising, swelling, and pain, and I required medical treatment.
My 6-year-old child was present and distressed. While some staff were personally kind, the overall management response and aftercare were inadequate, and the incident prevented any sense of rest or relaxation for the remainder of the stay.
At checkout, I produced my medical receipt and prescription and showed my injury while discussing outstanding restaurant charges. Management then chose to offset those food and drink charges against my medical expenses, rather than reimbursing the medical costs separately.
I also asked whether a refund for the accommodation was available, given the injury and the impact on my stay. No response was provided. As the full accommodation amount had already been taken in advance in cash, I had no opportunity to meaningfully resolve this at checkout.
As a result, I paid the full accommodation cost, despite sustaining an injury, requiring medical care, and not receiving the safe and restorative experience the stay was paid for.
This is a maintenance and management issue, not a frontline staff issue. Shared facilities should be safe, particularly where children are present.
Clean rooms, helpful staff, good drinks.
Got woken up at 3:30am by roosters (didn’t stop crowing till dawn). The beach is dirty.
The staff are great, helpful and welcoming. Very easy check in and out process. The continental breakfast is an added bonus given the relatively cheap nightly rates. Relaxed atmosphere. Music was great, love the pool and the rooms too for the price. Great to have access by boat to the mainland when needed to go shopping and check out the markets etc
Nothing, was great for us.
Location, super friendly staff that were very helpful and responsive to our requests.
Excellent food options, both breakfast and dinner.
It was a shame that the snorkeling mask need to be replaced but we did enjoy the kayak and paddle boards.
The view was beautiful. The villas were also really nice and the food was good too.
Loved everything the only comment I would make is that the rooms get quite hot during the day as the aircon is far away from the bed. Also I think if the menu had a little more options it would be really good.but it is just a suggestion.
Great staff. Swimming and canoeing enjoyable.
No tv. Lots of day trippers.
Everything..The Bure is spacious, clean and I love the peaceful environment..Food was delicious..I have no complain about Below Vula Resort..
There was no bin in the room...only that
Friendly staff made us feel at home
Perhaps a little more warmth in the shower water.
The property has potential — nice views of the water, staff was nice and accommodating. The food was pretty good overall.
My biggest issues were that my room was rundown, and the beach area was dirty. I would not stay here again.
Regarding the room — the AC and fans worked well, and my room was spacious. However, various doors didn’t slide or close properly, the half wall had old dirty sand inside and remnants of dead plants and some other stuff, someone left a utensil on one of the beds, and the shower had no hot water and didn’t spray straight.
Regarding the property, there was some broken glass right outside my room. I also went on a walk down the beach and saw plastic bottles, chip bags, and a soggy diaper. The property also had animal poop all around. Not sure what type of animal it was but it really was scattered by the main areas — including the path between the restaurant, check-in office and rooms. It would not be too difficult to take the time and clean up the area.
Very friendly staff and boat to the main island was easily accessible
Very dirty, walked barefoot in the room for five minutes and my pale feet turned black. Sheets were clean for comforter had a huge stain that I hope was coffee. Breakfast was bare bones, cheap bread, cereal and warm milk. At one point my toilet stopped working and it took a few hours to fix it. The beach was covered in washed up trash. The beach view overlooked manufacturing plants and the shipyards. No organized activities so snorkeling and kayaking was at your own risk which was not a good idea for a solo traveler like myself. Was supposed to stay five nights, but checked out after the morning after arriving.
