Nice, reasonable "non-chain" hotel experience. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Free shuttle back and forth to airport was greatly appreciated.... and was only a 10-15 minute ride. Good restaurant on site with a nice breakfast included in room price. Decor was somewhat worn, but otherwise felt clean.
This was or 5th time staying at the Adventure Inn and Eric, the Moon Glow Restaurant and his staff were AWESOME as usual. Everyone is very accommodating to any of your needs. A great place to stay.
We loved our brief stay. The decor is unique and while it’s older, everything feels cozy, clean and like being invited into a family home. The staff is great as is the food at the onsite restaurant. All in all, we found it to be excellent value.
The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. Rate is reasonable and includes a great breakfast! I recommend this place very highly!
My wife and l just returned to Idaho after our first trip to Costa Rica where we spent two weeks. Had a great time. We arrived and departed Costa Rica via San Jose. Always a little stressful visiting a foreign country for the first time. However staying at the Adventure Inn greatly reduced that stress. The staff at the Adventure Inn arranged our transportation from the airport to their hotel on arrival and to the airport from their hotel when we left Costa Rica. The staff also recommended that we have our rental car from Adobe delivered to their hotel the following morning and have Adobe pickup the car at their hotel the afternoon prior to the day we left. That was a real time saver and real convenience. The accomodations at the Adventure Inn were wonderful. Room was well furnished, super clean and very comfortable. The complementary breakfast was perfect, fresh fruit, choice of main course, wonderful pastries and of course great coffee. Nice pool area and attractive grounds. The welcome email they sent me prior to our stay was incredibly informative on cultural and practical aspects of Costa Rica, a must read. On our next trip to Costa Rica we will definitely use the Adventure Inn again!
We want a real "Costa Rica experience" so we love staying at Adventure Inn. All of the staff are so nice and helpful. We loved the breakfast....so many good choices. The coffee in the rooms is sooo good. The front desk helped us with a tour white water rafting, getting our shuttles to the airport and all of our questions. We have booked here 3 times now and will continue to do so.
This truly is the place to stay when flying in and out of SJO airport. Only 15 minutes from SJO. This was our 7th or 8th stay at Adventure Inn and, as always, it was terrific! The owner, Eric Robinson, provides a personal concierge-style service that is unmatched. The staff is wonderful (and the same year after year which tells you something) and the rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and have that Pura Vida Vibe. 🦋
The Moon Glow restaurant on site has wonderful food and drinks and the complimentary breakfast is delicious! The fresh fruit is a real treat. The lovely pool and hot tub are clean and never crowded.
One of the best advantages to staying here is they arrange for your rental car through their partnership with Solid car rental. The rates are very good and the car is delivered to you at the Inn, and that’s where you return it (they pick it up). I joined a Facebook “Costa Rican Travel Tips” group and countless people are posting really bad experiences with renting a car in Costa Rica. Never had an issue with that through Adventure Inn.
Whatever you need help with (tour recommendations, bus or shuttle information, etc.) they are there to help.
Just book it!
My husband and I frequently spend the night at Adventure Inn while flying in or out of the SJO airport. Adventure Inn is perfect for us with complementary transfers to or from the airport ( follow their instructions with this. There are always aggressive “helpful” drivers bombarding you at the exit), clean and comfortable rooms, casual restaurant with full bar and solid menu. The people that work here are incredibly friendly and helpful in English or Spanish. Do not miss the complementary breakfast but no worries if the timing is not right because the Inn will offer to pack you a breakfast to go. If you can though, eat there. They will start your day out beautifully Costa Rican style.
Nice little place to lay your head. Comfy room and bed. The rooms are clean and the staff friendly. Stayed here one night for core flying back home. They provide airport shuttle and if you have to leave early in the morning, they give you a little snack bag (Apple, juice box and half a ham and cheese sandwich). The hotel restaurant had good menu and foods. We enjoyed our stay and caught the 5am shuttle to the airport. Nothing fancy but excellent place overall. The staff are all helpful and nice. Was able to check in early.
This place was a heavenly escape with friends both old and new. The shuttle service to and from the airport, art and murals were amazing, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the fresh fruit and chicken nachos were delicious, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. I’d happily return. Found my Pura vida!
Adventure Inn is the ONLY place to stay in San Jose. We have consistently stayed at the Adventure Inn on our trips to Costa Rica. You cannot find lodging that offers what the Adventure Inn provides. Staying here whether you are a large family or just a couple, is wonderful!
We stayed at Adventure Inn for the first two days of our two week tour of Costa Rica.
This is a small but charming hotel with excellent and clean facilities. We stayed in room eight which was perfect for my needs as a wheelchair user.
The staff are welcoming and friendly. The food in the restaurant is very nice and well-priced.
However the secret weapon at this establishment is Head of Front Desk, Loren.
I first came across the hotel details on the Manuel Antonio National Park website which gave me confidence to approach the hotel after reading on their website about the tailor-made packages they offer.
Loren put together an itinerary for us including hotels, transportation and tours. She liased with operators to ensure that my wheelchair needs were met and was happy to investigate all possible avenues; even visiting some venues to check the facilities.
During our stay she was available to assist and even changed the itinerary when we decided to stay an extra night at one location. She was flexible and supported all our choices until we were completely satisfied.
I was anxious planning this journey into the unknown with my mobility requirements but our trip was a resounding success due to the efforts of Loren.
Shout out also to our amazing driver, Jorge, who was helpful, charming and put up with my awful attempts at trying to speak his beautiful language! Thank you Jorge and your beautiful wife Fressi.
This cute little hotel has a lot of pluses. The free airport shuttle and breakfast are great! The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was comfy. Friendly front desk staff and wait staff. We will be staying with them on our next visit to Costa Rica.
We loved The Adventure Inn. It was recommended by Mytanfeet, a travel blog, and we cannot be more grateful that we took the recommendation.
Our flight got in very late and the process of getting to the hotel was very well explained, easy, punctual and delightful. It is close to the airport but not so close that it is noisy. It is in a lovely area of town. The front desk staff were terrific. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. It is decorated in such a way with the handpaintings on the walls that you instantly feel right at home in Costa Rica.
The staff in the restaurant were also very lovely. The breakfast that was included was delicious with very generous portions.
We stayed the last day of our trip as well. Service was just as wonderful from all of the employees. We had an exceptional dinner at the restaurant. Sadly, we had to catch a very early shuttle to airport, so the Inn had prepared a simple breakfast for us to take with us, which was very much appreciated.
I would highly recommend the Inn as a place to stay, and we will definitely always make it our first and last stop. In fact, we discussed making it a longer stay for subsequent trips, especially at the beginning of the trip, just to enjoy the Inn more. The pool looked very inticing, and they also have great recommendations for things to do around the city. We are quite frugal so it was a bit more than we could have paid elsewhere, but the service from everyone at the Inn, the shuttle and the included breakfast make it absolutely worth the value. We will be back.
We only stayed one night at the Adventure Inn as a transfer point before heading to our main place. We were very happy with our night here, the staff was lovely, the breakfast was wonderful and the courtyard and pool was a great space to relax. We would highly recommend this place to other travellers.
My wife & I have stayed at this excellent hotel for many years now, coming and going from our vacation trips to Costa Rica. It is very conveniently located to San Jose Airport, about 12-15 minutes drive on average, using the included free shuttle. Safe & clean with lovely rooms decorated with original art on the walls depicting flora & fauna from Costa Rica. The included breakfast and restaurant fare in the Moon Glow is very good and the new chef is doing a fine job. The true stars of this establishment however are the staff. Starting with owner/operator Eric Robinson who is always responsive to any questions or issues. He has been a great resource for us for many years. On this visit, we also very much enjoyed dealing with Paula & Ximena on the front desk, Cynthia in the restaurant, Jorge our shuttle driver, and Jose on the night desk. They always greet us with s smile and are great to deal with. We highly recommend this hotel. Check out their web site to learn more about all the services they can provide! They are the top rated hotel in the area for a reason.
We had a very pleasant stay and your staff were so friendly and helpful. The kitchen and restaurant staff were super friendly and they even helped me with my “rusty” Spanish! It really is the people that make the stay special. Thanks to you all!
The shuttle arrangements as well as the rental car service really take a lot of stress out of traveling!
We stayed here twice during our trip; once the night we flew in, and again a week later the night before our flight, and wow! The easiest stay of our trip, all around. These were the highlights:
- The hotel itself is beautiful. Rooms, common areas, the building, etc. Very clean and welcoming. We could have stayed for a whole week and been happy.
- The front desk was so easy to communicate and work with
- All logistics were smooth with the airport pickup/drop off
- The staff was all very knowledgable, helpful and friendly. We left every interaction with a smile. Top tier customer service.
- The food was delicious and the dinner was fairly priced.
- The neighborhood/area around felt very safe.
Thank you Eric and the rest of the staff at the Adventure Inn for a warm welcome to Costa Rica and a great goodbye. We will be staying here again during travel days every time we return.
My family of 4 from Colorado stayed at the Adventure Inn on the last night of our vacation in Costa Rica. It was a really great experience. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff is really helpful and friendly - and speaks English well, which was a big help for us since our Spanish is not very good. They have one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had and it was included with the stay. My favorite part is when the owner of the hotel, originally from Canada, stopped by and asked if my kids would like to help him feed the fish in the pond. That was a really nice thing to do and they loved it. I hope to stay here again the next time we are visiting Costa Rica.
We always go to Adventure Inn because it's fantastic. The staff is top notch, the restaurant is comfortable (yummy full breakfast included) and your airport transfer is also included. Eric the owner takes great pride in his hotel and he should. The pool is lovely, the location is lovely (not far from airport, very nice part of the city, with nearby duck ponds to walk to, and it's very quiet). There is an indoor koi pond for kids and adults to enjoy, and handpainted murals and accents. The rooms are beautiful and spotless. If you stay frequently, Eric returns the loyalty with reduced rates.
Three times we have arrived with our pets, and Eric has water bowls waiting. He will place you near the front lobby for ease of walking your dogs to the lobby and outside. We always walk our dogs to the duck pond down the street and around the neighbourhood. You will not find a better hotel or better value than Adventure Inn.
