Quinta Funchal Gardens - Adults Only

Das Zimmer, wir hatten eine Suite, könnte wieder einmal "refreshed" werden. Der Fußboden wies deutliche Abnützungsspuren auf (der Parkettboden wies mehrfache deutliche "Kratzer" auf; der Teppichboden im Schlafzimmer war schon etwas nieder getreten. Im Bereich des Schreibtisches (befand sich im Schlafzimmer) wäre eine zusätzliche Beleuchtung wünschenswert. Auch ein paar Haken zum Aufhängen von Kleidungsstücken würden nicht schaden.
Es gab in der gesamten Suite nur einen einzigen Haken, nämlich einen im Badezimmer für ein Duschtuch!

Een klein minpuntje was dat het binnen zwembad niet was verwarmd. Het staat in verbinding met het buitenbad maar omdat de temperaturen nog niet heel warm waren was het binnen zwembad veel te oud. We hadden dit hotel ook geboekt omdat er een binnenbad is maar daar hebben we geen gebruik van kunnen maken helaas. Wel naast het zwembad een bubbelbad die lekker warm was. We hebben dit toch even gemeld aan een dame en die bood ons gratis de sauna aan. Omdat wij geen sauna liefhebbers zijn kregen we een glaasje bubbels in het bubbelbad. Heel attent. Er werd verteld dat ze eraan werken het binnenbad toch te gaan verwarmen. Is nu geen installatie voor.

Overall I have been disappointed by the fact that the hotel advertises everything as a 5 start hotel, but it is definitely not more than a 3 star hotel, with due renovations and a lack of service; the Extra cost for parking and Sauna/Steam room felt really cheap; don't get me wrong, I am happy to pay for things, but usually in 5 star hotels you don't get asked such things.

- Most equipment in the gym was not functional (treadmill, bike, rowing machine, gym ball) so we went, but left frustrated after a few minutes
- The Spa is basically non existing. There is a very nice pool but it is not heated and since outside and inside are connected, it was way too cold. The shower is broken (both the button to operate it and the shower stand) and the Jacuzzi is the only other thing available given that the sauna and the steam room need to be paid/booked extra, which is quite ridiculous
- If you want to park at the hotel you need to pay 10 Euros per day
- All fixtures and forniture need some maintenance since everything is quite old and not well maintained and there is a lack of electricity plugs (at least in our junior suite)
- Our room shower kept doing an annoying thing of not having a constant water flow and temperature, which was acceptable, but not great
- Late checkout is available, but we were given a free hour and were asked to pay 10 Euros for an extra 30min, which felt quite cheap

Der Teppich in meinem Zimmer war leider ziemlich verkratzt, es gab keinen deutschen TV Sender und eine Verbindung mit Netflix war nicht möglich, obwohl der TV Internet hatte. Der Innenpool war nicht (wirklich) beheizt und somit nicht nutzbar. Schade war auch, dass im Wellness-Bereich nie eine Person vorbei geschaut hat, wo man, wenn man den Whirlpool genutzt oder sich gesonnt hat, etwas zu trinken hätte bestellen können. Der Weg zur Rezeption bzw zur Bar neben der Lobby war dazu zu weit.

I just wish they provided a shuttle bus to downtown Funchal a couple of times a day to make it a little more convenient, That was a small trade off to a “Fabulous Hotel!” I would recommend the Quinta Funchal Gardens Hotel to everyone I know!

Spa ist nicht den Preis wert. Sollte mann eigentlich ohne Aufpreis reserviren können...

I would not rate this a 5-star hotel mainly because of the disappointing room. Instead of a panoramic view, we only had a small view of the ocean and a small balcony. HUGE brown stain on the rug (did someone die there?) and not enough towels and I had to request water on our second day. Also, no internet connections next to the bed - very annoying.

Дуже холодно у СПА бассейн без подогріву. У Спа доволі брудно.
В ресторані замовляли восьминога він був дуууже твердий.
Дуже розчарувало, що в алкогольному меню є коктейль «Moscow” тоді як Росія -є країною агресором та в стані війни з Україною.

The decor was very dated and shabby - threadbare carpets and torn curtains. The plug in our bathtub was broken so we couldn't bath - we reported this and it wasn't resolved. I don't the cleaning was up to scratch - some mud we dropped in our room remained there the whole stay.

Pastries at breakfast were stale and a lot of the food wasn't labelled. Food at dinner was expensive and not particularly nice.

While the price was affordable, the hotel purports itself as a 5 star, which is definitely is not.
