Very comfortable and unique hotel with lovely staff
Pros:

Very comfortable four poster bed and a large room. Great touches - coffee machine, fridge, robes, towel specifically for make-up.
Breakfast - I didn’t realise that it is rare to have breakfast included in the room price in the USA.
I met the proprietor who told me how she had remodelled the building and designed each room - she was lovely too.

Cons:

The picture advertising is slightly misleading, as this is one part of the hotel - not the entrance, but I think probably the best rooms.

My star was very exciting and comfortable.
Pros:

I like the room, very cozy. I like the breakfast; it had good choices. The store's conference was in walking distance.

The size of my TV is too small, and there is some cracking noise

We've stayed here many times, and the hotel is in a great spot to walk into downtown or the wharf
Pros:

The location and atmosphere of the hotel is great. The room are roomy.

Cons:

The water pressure in our shower was terrible and staff said it was due to the laundry they were using in the morning. That seemed strange timing.

Racist and disrespectful Kept our money even though we did not stay we are filing with the county
Pros:

We did not stay there. The owner became loud and threatening and violent and refuses to refund our money. So we filed a claim at the bank .

This is a beautiful historic property, which is lovingly maintained by a courteous and warm staff.

Merritt House is a nice, cozy stay for your getaway to Monterey.
Pros:

We visited Monterey specifically for the Big Sur Marathon, so the location was perfect. One block from the Expo and bus pick-up.
The hotel itself is very charming as it’s a historic building with beautifully maintained grounds. The room was big and cozy and came with a working fireplace.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating and made the stay very pleasant. I would highly recommend booking at Merritt House!

Pros:

The location was extremely close to downtown. We went to a comedy show at the golden state theater, easy 4min walk. Great restaurants nearby. The wharf was walking distance.

Cons:

Parking was a little tight.

Just ok.
Pros:

It was quaint but more like apartments. The rooms were nothing special. The balcony was nice but everyone shared a common space.

Cons:

The place was fine. However for the price it was nothing special. Next time I will pay for a place with an ocean view or a better breakfast. No what I was expecting.

Pros:

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is very good, especially if you are attending an event at the Monterey Convention Center.

Cons:

It took at least 20 minutes for the water in the shower to get hot enough to use. That seems like a lot of wasted water. It would have been nice if breakfast started earlier, maybe 7:30 am instead of 8 am.
