The Caravelle Resort

The Caravelle is now old and run down. Parking is terrible. No place to unload upon arrival.

Park across the street in a garage. Haul your own items across Ocean Blvd. Then up the elevators. Made several trips because I was a solo traveler.

I needed to leave one day early due to a family emergency. Called the front desk and gave notice. No refund.

I booked thru Expedia and paid upon arrival at the hotel. Meaning the hotel collected my payment and could have refunded directly. No. It’s their policy. “We have your money and we are not refunding to you,” Is what it felt like.

I called Expedia from the front desk when I checked out. The Expedia person spoke to the front desk manager. Expedia could not refund because they had not been paid yet.

I have stayed at the Caravelle many times in the last 30 years and taken family members and friends for the ocean front location. Never again.

The room was not clean and also had a bad odor. The toilet wouldn’t flush. Went to take a shower and the tub was stopped up. I had to cover my hand with a bag to clean the huge glob of hair from previous guests out of the drain. Very disgusting!!! On top of the refrigerator froze up and was rusted on the outside and wouldn’t keep anything cold. From the pictures and reviews I was very disappointed. Don’t waste your money staying there.

Accommodating for me and my family

The stay was not horrible but definitely not the best, parking deck elevators stop working, the air in the room was not working properly and need updates on the rooms paying for parking is crazy.

Check in took over an hour. Each registration was 20 minutes long and with only two employees at the registration desk, the lines formed very fast. Parking was horrific. Try limited parking on the premise. There is an overflow across the street but it’s also limited and very tight spaces. The wall in the hotel are extremely thin. We could hear people’s conversations with clarity. Also, the room was never cleaned before we checked into it. Floor had sand all over it and dead/living bugs all throughout the condo. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. We chose this place for the kiddie pool but they send us to the “towers” rather than the main resort which limited our access to the only good things at the Caravelle. The pool was also disgusting. It’s wasn’t cleaned the entire stay there.

Stayed for two nights as soon as I walked in I was ready to go lol, it was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at , pretty upset because definitely wasn’t what I expected it to be. I found roaches in the bathroom , room was still messy , couldn’t even watch tv it was terrible.

Very Bad Property.

I love the cleanliness. I love the pools all the pools the lazy river I love the toddler play area. I love the large pool in the center. I love the indoor pool outdoor pool. I love the baby one and a half foot little lazy river. I love the hot tub.

I would not recommend this hotel. Although we were in the “green” tower, not the main building. Check in is across the street.
I can’t speak for the main building but the green tower is in terrible shape and dirty.
At check-in we were told our room was being cleaned. Hours later we finally received notification that our room was ready only to find the cleaning staff arrived to clean our room about 2 minutes before we did. We left and came back about a half hour later. But my main issue was the poor condition of the building.

Hotel staff (one in particular) had an attitude. Did not give great customer service nor make the experience of staying at your hotel great. And this was our first time staying. Needless to say, we will not be back. Even tho one family choosing to not book with your hotel would make a huge difference, but if u keep staff like “the guy that frustrated the situation even more” around, then the number of families not booking with you will impact your pockets…. Regardless, me and mine won’t be coming back.

I wont be staying at this hotel ever again to be honest. Definitely dont have the right to call themselves a resort!

The building and room was in poor condition. I feared for the safety of my family because of broken windows, jammed door, and loud shouting throughout the night. The online photos didn’t match the true condition of this “resort” nor the breathtaking musty odor that filled the room.

The room was decent but the pull out bed was dirty like the sheets were never changed. The balcony it was flooded when we got there and stayed that way the whole stay we stayed for 4 days.

The first coupl days were good the last 2 not shower knob broke and took all day to get fixed then next time went to use broke again never came to fix before we left

They didnt tell us that they dont clean ur room and we asked for towls everyday and we had to go down and get them our self

The property was actually fine. We obviously didn't like our room for several reasons. One being how small it was and that it wasn't in compliance with ADA and there was no disability accessible access to anything.
We know what we said we needed to Expedia and they told us what we could expect, they lied. Experida lied, not Caravelle Resort. Had I booked through them, transparency would have been top priority and that matters.
Experida just wanted their cut. Once the actual resort knew of our issues and frustration and learned my husband had his leg amputated 3 years ago and is in a wheelchair. We truly could even enjoy our first 2 days because of the distance to everything the hospital offered, and too far from even seeing the ocean. It was heartbreaking seeing my husband suffer and not enjoy himself. We hadn't had a vacation, ln over 5 years.
What points me. 💯 As previously stated, we are not directly mad at the actual party, just the 3rd party, Expedia we used, and we believe we should be reimbursed those first 2 days at minimum! Thank you -Nicole

Room was very nice and a great price for peak season

We were convinced from pictures we would get ocean view and be staying in the water park resort and got there and was stuck in a motel which was across the street but apart of the place we were supposed to be staying at. Very disappointed. The only good thing is we had a pool and hot tub. Was planning on coming back with my daughter in a couple weeks for her to enjoy the water park but at this point don’t even know if we will be able to or if we will get stuck in ST John’s motel again. False advertisement.
