Furniture in suite was stained and dingy. Pet hairs from previous guests ended up stuck to our clothes. Terrible sound proofing - loud upstairs neighbors kept us up at night. Unable to access streaming services through room's strange TV subscription. Breakfast consisted of low quality, prepackaged industrialized "food." For the price, we expected better.
The hotel is basically an attempt at updating an old motel. It’s close to mirror lake which is nice but our room is dark and dank. There’s a musty odor. There is no natural light and barely enough lamps. Our blinds are broken and there has been no attempt to replace or fix them despite us asking. The hotel lobby has ONE keurig machine for the entire hotel (there is no coffee in rooms) and they were out of pods yesterday. There’s been zero ice in the ice machine for two days now and today I had to call twice to get housekeeping to come to our room….and they still just left clean towels and didn’t tidy up the room. We will not be staying here again.
The website photos are misleading. The exterior of the hotel is not well maintained.
It appears the renovation budget was spent on the lobby area. It's very spacious with many seating areas and a small bar.
The elevator is in need of repair. The hallways are very dark.
The double queen suite with a lake view balcony is very spacious. However, the balcony did not have chairs. Management did provide two chairs, three days after checking in, on our last day.
The room needs a deep clean to remove the cobwebs, dirt in the corners and on the baseboards. The floor under the bed was very dirty, obviously hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. Management acknowledged housekeeping is short staffed. We left the room at 9:30 on two consecutive days, arrived back at 4:00 to find our room had not been serviced. The staff falsely claimed we had a do not disturb sign on the door.
The location is excellent, a quick walk to Mirror Lake, dining and shopping. There are many nicer hotels nearby in the same price range. I wouldn't recommend spending your travel dollars here.
Stay far away from Laurel Lake Placid! The rooms are dirty; dead bugs, live bugs hanging from corners, spiderwebs with hair woven through, hair in the shower, black mold and clear water damage leaving a pungent smell in the air. The floors were leaving our feet black. The front desk staff tells you what you want to hear in a near condescending tone. I was argued with at one point about being offered a room change (I was never offered any resolution to my complaints). No pool, broken air hockey table, the amenities boast a fitness area- none to be seen. The grounds are unkempt. The GM practices poor management.
My husband and I spent 3 nights and loved the location even though we had no view of the lake. The beds were awesome but the room was extreme sparse. No chairs or tables (except one between the beds) , no desk or anywhere to sit but the beds. The hotel has a very wide open area with games which makes it very family oriented.
Very nice lobby and the room was spacious.
Breakfast is the weakest point.
Location, and bar, pool table was nice
I was quoted a price and asked if that included all fees and was told yes. The room would have been about $320, and it ended up costing $478, which I wouldn't have stayed there knowing that. We booked a room for our friends, same price and their room was so much smaller than ours which was uncomfortable for us. Then in the morning their shower backed up and flooded the room, and they were very unhappy and I felt responsible since I booked the room, so it was not a good experience having our friends upset. I think booking.com should have been honest with us with the fees. The room was not worth $478 at all.
Best location,wonderful view
Spacious room,very relaxing lobby
The room wasn't clean .
It’s a pretty good hotel for the price. There are very cozy relaxation areas with beautiful views. The breakfast is simple—but again, for the price, it’s excellent! There are rooms with a lake view. The room has everything you need and is quite clean and cozy. A major plus of this hotel and its location is that it’s right next to the main street. Everything is within walking distance. I was happy with my stay!
Very clean rooms with the most comfortable bed and pillows. The location is central to everything and an easy walk to Main Street.
Nothing
Location is good. Bed and pillows were comfortable.
We stayed for a week on a hiking trip. It took us over 24 hours and multiple requests to get fresh washcloths delivered to our room halfway through our stay. It was a little inconvenient after a day of hiking to not have linens.
