Room was ok size for family. Location great near train station. Bed comfy. Bathroom tiny. Breakfast; skip that. Were told avail till 11am, arrived about 9:45 and told no more scrambled eggs. Plenty of cafe up the road towards Montemarte. Good luggage storage service.
This property was not nice.. the picture they had online was not what I saw physically in person. The bed was horrible. I paid for superior room the bed was two twin size bed put together and when you sleep on it at night it will split up .. this hotel I do-not recommend it to anybody..the staff were rude
Rooms were clean yet worn. The carpets and paint are all fading. The neighborhood is not ideal but was fine. Close to the metro was a plus. Walking around the neighborhood felt a bit nerve wracking
Tatty hotel. No hot water when arrived and also later had to ask a second time to have it repaired.
Carpets are filthy.
Bathroom with mould.
Staff very nice but the place is basic NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL I will not be staying there again for that price
My partner and I had a lovely time. The room was comfortable, clean and well lit. The carpet reminded us of Twin peaks - which we love very dearly. Would recommend staying here!
The hotel is located a five min walk from Eurostar terminal, which was excellent.
The entrance from the street was not easy to find and was general shabby, as was reception. The staff were friendly, but on arrival noted that due to their environment policy they would not clean the room for four days! This was clearly green washing to save them money.
Stairs and lift to the room were stained and shabby. We had a balcony room which was ok. The balcony was small but you could sit out and admire the area. If you put it in another hotel it may have scored better, but the whole place looked like it needed a refresh.
We wanted a room near train station. This was convenient, and early in morning there were food places on the way to the station. Clean room and hot water
Overall our stay at the Avalon was okay. The location was convenient to the trains and bus, the area was okay. Not super nice, nor super scary. A few blocks over, things get sketchy and I would not recommend traveling alone as a woman.
Our issue with the hotel is a simple one that could have been resolved, but unfortunately it was not.
We had absolutely no hot water to shower with the entire stay. Each day we would let the staff know (in the morning and at night), and each day we would be told that the maintenance person would fix it, or that we needed to shower at a different time (!) and or that the manager was not on site and wouldn’t be there for a few days. Ugh
Taking cold showers, when it is cold outside, on your honeymoon is not the best. Getting the runaround from staff, also not the best.
I will say that the staff was pleasant, and very good at avoiding the issue. lol
Room was very clean staff were helpful and friendly esp the staff at reception. I didn’t need the Aircon.
Good hospitality
Made special request since July . When checking in the staff laughed off as the request was made so long ago.
No hot water for 3 days from day one checking in, but the manager made an excuse and indicated we were lying as there was only no hot water the day before. We had to argue to check out the hotel as no offer to upgrade to the other half of the building which there was hot water.
Guests had no hot water were offered free breakfast. So bad luck to us as we had breakfast included. No refund on that either.
Front desk staff could not do anything but kept saying needing to wait for the manager.
As moving out no refund on the prepaid city tax as claimed it’s already in part of the room price refund ( 15% less as the booking platform OTA ).
Avoid this hotel.
This hotel is located really close to Gare du Nord so really convenient for an early train out. But if that wasn’t a priority would choose elsewhere. We had a quadruple room which was one of a small number that faced the back of the hotel so was relatively quiet. I imagine most other rooms were very noisy onto the main road. Even as a quadruple room it was small and bathroom was tiny. Guests were noisy in the corridor throughout the night. But bed was comfy!
Bad condition of bedroom door . Cards will not work . Poor state of lifts and limited staff
The room quite small, carpet needs chaging and hotel doors extremely old. Staff though are friendly and breakfast were ok. The best about this hotel is the location. Its on main road easy to get to and from Gare du Nord station. But will we return in future. I think its a better offer out there for the same price.
The staff is super friendly and the room was clean. Loved the area.
The room was as advertised, with a lovely balcony to take in the sights over the Parisian rooftops. The kinder egg sweet under one of the chairs was an unusual surprise, along with the freezing cold shower, no matter how long we ran the water for, still no hot water. So a little disappointed on the room itself but the location/distance to the Metro and Sacre Couer and it's night time vibe was second to none.
A great hotel close to Gare du Nord; very handy for the Eurostar. Our room was cosy but clean and had everything we needed for the brief overnight stay. We liked the little balcony overlooking Boulevard de Magenta.
It is also very handy for walking up to Montmartre where we went for dinner and to walk around the park and basilica.
Friendly staff. Very helpful and kind. Late checkout and Air Conditioning!!! Will definitely return.
Great spot, very friendly and helpful staff, a good night’s sleep and fine breakfast to set us up for exploring all Paris had to offer
Serviceable hotel in relatively convenient location. Expect small rooms. Did not buy breakfast, so cannot comment. Could use more quality dining options nearby.
