Luz Ocean Club

Luz Ocean Beadh Club was perfect for exploring Luz and surrounding areas, the pool area was fantastic and peaceful and has a great Italian restaurant. The apartment was well equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. I couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone planning on going to Luz. Everyone who works there is so friendly, thank you for everything!

Me & my partner booked the ocean club , absolutely stunning staff are so friendly & polite . Close to the beach , bars & restaurants & also baptista & spar supermarkets . I see through the reviews people taking about the madeleine " abduction " I think we all know who's responsible !!

We booked our stay through the website and had confirmation straight away.
What they do not make clear is you will probably not be stopping in the block with the facilities and will have to walk 3 streets away!!

We had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at the Ocean Club in Luz. The Garden Complex is now under new management led by John and Donna. The food and service were excellent and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Today as we lounged around the pool Donna offered us complimentary organic peaches which were grown in her Mother’s garden. What a lovely gesture.

This resort is very disappointing. Lots of the gardens are scruffy. Near the park there's a dog yapping most afternoons and nights. Residents shouting and rowdy,
washing hanging out in front of house. Not a nice place for a holiday any more.

The hotel itself wasn't that bad, except for a little noisiness. I did enjoy the view. But every night, I kept the lights on. I know, I know, its stupid. But Madeline McCann was abducted here, wasn't she.....

Come here if you want noise and stress all day long. The noise of gardeners' machinery, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers goes on all day long. PURE TORTURE!
They just don't get it that most of us are trying to escape from that noise on holiday.
It's like having kids on motorbikes constantly revving up outside your house/flat ALL DAY LONG. HORRIBLE, STRESSFUL PLACE TO AVOID. The solution is so simple - get the gardeners to use hand tools.

Absolutely loved the apartment. Very close proximity to the beach and loads of restaurants in the area. Didn't use the resort facilities (pools etc.) as prefer the beach. All in all a fantastic area to stay in.

Small complaint was I was not expecting a extra cost of 99 euros for cleaning, housekeeping is only done once through the stay and obviously at the end of the stay but I thought this was a bit excessive!

Its only been day one but we love the place already, the apartment is minimalist and tidy and in keeping with traditional portugese decor and the swimming pool is really lovely, perfect temperature in this 30c heat and a baby pool for the toddlers. All the staff have been really helpful too and the kids love it.

We have been holidaying in Luz on and of for 40 years.This time we traveled with Thomas Cook and they were brilliant.We got a private taxi from the airport and were in resort within 50 minutes.Although our apartment wasn't ready when we arrived as we had a 5am flight the reception phoned through to housekeeping and we were installed by 11am.We were taken to our apartment by reception in a mini bus and were absolutely delighted.I had requested a large balcony and boy did we get it ,along with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.We also had English television with the 4 main channels which was great when we decided to eat in at night.The pool was just across from our apartment and Lou on reception knew all there is to know about Luz.We have made a great friend of her and keep in touch via email and text.Baptista supermarket was just a little further down from the pool and is expensive as is the nearby Spar,as we didn't have a car we were reliant on these for essentials.There is a Lidl in Lagos which is a lot cheaper.Eating out was brilliant ,the Barraca BBQ on a Thursday and Sunday not to be missed.Boatys tapas is also great and fantastic atmosphere.Lunch of baguettes and 🍺 for 12euros was also a favourite.We returned home on the 28th September after 2weeks of unbroken sunshine and the best holiday ever.

Apartment was very spacious and clean. Cleaners came in mid week and changed towels and bedding.
Everything we needed in the kitchen, would benefit from a bigger frying pan.

First time in portugal, would definitely come back.

Went to Luz with our friends who'd been many times before. We thoroughly enjoyed it, great beach, excellent eating options (YOLO, Boaty, the Dolphin). Easy to walk round and plenty to do: mountain biking, coastal walking, kayaking, surfing.......

We arrived at the complex to be told that we were not allowed use of the swimming pool. We were told that the owner is in dispute with the management company also the canopy was ripped. (see photo) apartment was old and not clean needed refurbishment badly.

It's hard to blame the staff at the Ocean Club for the fact that the complex is tired and in need of some investment. A decade ago, it was a Mark Warner complex, for the better off. Now, it's a mish-mash of individual owners and it's a lottery to see what you end up with.
We arrived at the main entrance and were taken to our room via a rickety old minibus which had plainly seen better days. Our room, with two bedrooms, was a little musty but clean and tidy enough. There were signs of damp at the apartments.
The kitchen was excellent with everything you would need, there were books to read and a television with seven channels, all in Portuguese. That's the good news. Here's the rest.
The beds were horrendous, absolutely brick hard in one room, springs sticking out in the other. The shower was decent enough but water escaped from the bottom onto the floor and lots of it.
One thing that surprised us was how quiet it was. Some days there were maybe a dozen people by the pool, other days less than that. The streets were similarly quiet. We were a matter of yards from THAT apartment and the pool was n full view of it. The tapas bar is now a snack bar of variable quality. It could have been me but the recent past hung very heavy on Luz, particularly the Ocean Club.
It is likely that other apartments were better or worse than ours. I can only write about the one we were. We had a good break but it could have been better.
We like to meet people, get to know them, even just talk with them. There were no opportunities to do so at the Ocean Club.
Nice beach, shame about most other things. Oh, and no wifi in the apartments. In this day and age.

Wonderful relaxing place. Luz is beautiful. The Ocean Club Pool had plenty of sun beds and accommodating staff. Lou on the front desk is really attentive and a great ambassador for the complex. Dee Dee in the pool bar makes the best latte coffees ever! In all, a lovely place to unwind and relax.

Stayed here in a 2 bedroom apartment (was all that was available at the time). Fabulous room located near the rear of the complex.
Clean rooms on arrival and fully kitted out with everything that anyone would need. Stereo system for a cosy night in, wardrobe packed with kids toys, inflatables, beach amenities, and board games. Had a lovely balcony that looked over the roofs towards the sea (would've been nicer to be higher)
Ample parking space as we had a car for the week.

Location - close to all the resort amenities such as bars and restaurants. Lovely little resort, perfect for those needing a break away to relax with minimal things around to get by. Supermarket within 100m

Pool area was quiet, clean and the staff were attentive to needs.

The apartment was the best we have ever stayed in it had everything you could possibly need from ceiling fans to picnic boxes, the complex itself was clean and the staff where friendly, as this is a self catering complex the pools where never very busy, all amenities where with in easy walking distance and the roads around this area where quiet and easy to drive on, I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing and family friendly holiday.

As a family of 4 we stayed in apartment 0409 (2 bedroom 2 bathroom) which was spacious, clean, comfortable and equipped as a home away from home. If you are looking to stay in Luz I would recommend this as a good establishment.

Spacious appartement, clean, great location, quiet, safe, Nice and clean swimmingpool, the best pizza we have ever tasted in the Secret Garden restaurant in the evening, great base for daytrips along the Vicentina Coast, We will definately book in this place the next time we come visit the Algarve.

Stayed at Luz Ocean Club in last week in June, myself and my 19year old daughter. The appt was very clean, had WiFi, Sky channels which we hadn’t expected so a nice bonus. The kitchen was fully fitted and there was everything in the appt that you could have wanted including a hairdryer, but no pool towels. The staff were very helpful, when we found that the oven wasn’t working they let us use an appt next door. We didn’t do much cooking so they we only found out on the last night, the issue was very quickly resolved.
The pool area was clean, loads of loungers, the lady called Lou at the garden pool was extremely helpful and helped us as no Thomas Cook rep visited the resort unless an appt was requested.
The complex is spread over a wide area, when we checked in, we were driven to our apartment and then also collected. So make sure you are clear where you’re staying before you venture out, as easy to get lost!
