Breakfast consisted of dry cereal, pre packaged sweets and coffee but not to worry many excellent restraunts just steps from this hotel. The location was great, easy to walk or drive to things of interest. Would recommend.
It was convenient to the points of interest.
The building in itself was really cool. Considering the age & history.
It is obviously not SUPER much modern.
Clean, Decent continental breakfast.
Nothing.
Front desk staff
Room was minimal and very plain.
Location
They only cleaned after your third night.
We stayed 3 nights- no cleaning service or fresh towels.
Comfy bed. Close to the Soo locks.
Location was perfect! Went went to tour the Soo Locks and this is right next door. Walking distance to restaurants and souvenir stores.
Trash was not empty upon entering our room, a minor miss on the cleaning staff. Lack of attendance at the front desk. Bare minimum for towels and blankets.
Friendly hotel staff, VERY nice room, comfortable bed and pillows. Perfect location for the Soo Locks. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the locks viewing park is right across the street.
Always fun to stay in the midst of the city of Sault Ste Marie. We are frequent visitors and like the charm of an old, classic hotel, versus the typical strip motel. Parked the car and walked everywhere. Our room was recently renovated (all are or have been). Comfy pillows and bed, and roomy. Nice towels , fridge and microwave. Like being able to open windows to have outdoor air and not run the A/C. Continental breakfast is the only thing I’d upgrade. Eliminate pre packaged muffins and pastries and have bagels for toasting, offer milk (almond milk and 2%) in pitchers— the bottled 2% is too large an amount for a bowl of cereal as well as too much for anyone bothered by milk.

Old building
Fantastic location, just across from the Soo Locks Corp of Engineer park. Ample free parking. And walkable to many restaurants, shops and attractions.
Nice older hotel, clean rooms, comfortable bed, fluffy towels and plenty of hot water. Typical cold breakfast, but adequate. Close to several coffee shops and restaurants if you want more.
Staff was sincere, helpful and professional.
Would stay here again, nice hotel.
The staff was great.
The floors specifically were terribly dirty in both the halls and in our room. I wore socks in the room and had to throw them away after I washed them. They were that dirty from the carpet in the room.
This hotel needs a remodel/update. Everything was old and barely worked. The fridge in our room stopped working in the middle of the night.with all of our road trip food it in, there were no dark shades on one of the windows so we were up bright and early when the sun rose, there were stains in the carpet and the bed made noises every time you moved, there was no air conditioning in the lobby and we had to wait 20 minutes to check in because their computer system was slow, and the elevator was old and would open the doors before you reached the floor completely. Then, to top it off, they had no gluten free options for breakfast and no hot food at all. It was more of a snack bar than breakfast. I would not come back.
Check in took a long time, the employee had me stop and wait while she checked in others. She had to call a manager and found out she couldn't make it work because they overbooked our room type. OK, we took a double queen instead of double queen deluxe (we didn't have a fold out couch anymore). But st bedtime the kids noticed the center of the bed felt wet. We discovered the mattress was saturated in urine and had soaked through the mattress pad to what we were feeling on the sheets. Once we removed the mattress pad the whole room smelled like urine, not sure how the maids had missed it. The young woman at the desk got us a new room so we packed up and moved down the hall. A couple of small issues with the new room I wouldn't care about except for the prior issues only. At check out the desk people didn't even bring it up. After we brought it up they let us know that they took the room out of circulation now, but didn't have any apology or any reference to the fact my kids were laying in someone else's urine. The hotel is in a great location and has a cool history. If they had made any effort to make things right it would have helped. It just felt like it was one thing after another, and that management is lacking.
