Great place to stay, we have stayed at Carroll Villa 4 times and enjoy our stay there every time. It is an old building but so much character and very clean and friendly staff. You receive a $30 voucher for breakfast each day and bottles of water in room fridge. The only thing some might have an issue with is parking, they give you a ticket to hang in car but the lot is about a 8-10 minute walk, not an problem for me & my husband as we walk a lot everyday. Will definitely return again for more visits.
Our first taste of Cape May was a good one. We arrived early and parked temporarily in the loading zone across the street. Linda checked us in, we dropped off our bags and relocated our car to the municipal lot.
Our Room, No. 28 upstairs in the Annex, was accessed though a side door in the Mad Batter, the hotel's restaurant. There was a cozy bedroom which held a king bed and two side chairs, a separate living room with a TV and a storage chest, and a spacious modern bathroom with a stall shower and separate soaking tub. Plenty of room for both your toilet kits, as well as a drying rack for towels or swim suits. Ample towels were provided, we did not need housekeeping during out stay. They still left us water bottles each day, and there were more in the mini-fridge. The room was clean.
The king bed was quite comfortable, and we had a partial view of the ocean down Jackson Street. HVAC was controlled though heat pumps - they can be finicky and Linda helped us with those. The separate living room was a great place to store our luggage, watch TV while my wife slept, get changed, etc. If I came back, I would stay in this unit again.
The hotel provides a $30 voucher per day credit for breakfast or lunch at the Mad Batter. This will just about cover coffee and a breakfast item for two, exclusive of tax and tip, if you do not indulge. You'll probably spend a bit more, whether on the fresh squeezed orange juice, a Bloody Mary, or crab in your omelette. I enjoyed the corned beef hash and an order of pancakes - was less pleased with the omelettes which are more American diner style than French. Portions are generous. Service from Jose and Angel was great.
You also have a 30% discount on dinner at the Mad Batter or 15% off at the Cricket Club, the hotel's other property around the corner. We enjoyed a dinner at the Cricket Club to take advantage of the discount.
You should understand the parking situation before you book. The hotel provides a permit tag to allow you to use the municipal lot at 608 Bank Street, about three blocks from the hotel on foot- cutting through the Washington Street shopping area. This was not inconvenient for us, and better than paying for daily parking, but if the weather isn't great, or you have challenges, it could become an issue.
Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this property.
We stay at the Carroll Village Hotel every year for our Anniversary. Loved staying here for many reasons. Location to the beach and shops! Nightly entertainment at the bar area in the hotel. $30 voucher for breakfast served at the restaurant in the hotel called the Mad Batter! The food is amazing! This is the first year that we actually never went to another restaurant for dinner. Always ate at the Mad Batter. Not only were the breakfasts delicious, but the dinner options offered the best food ever!!!! Food options include appetizers, pizza, burgers, salads, and many other dinner entrees. Absolutely the best! Would highly recommend!
Great place! Beautiful old Victorian place, so much atmosphere. We love it and always come back!
This was our 4th stay at Carroll Villa, and it was another great time!
We enjoy the Villa and the amenities along with the terrific perks we get by
booking direct. The weather was fine and we enjoyed walking in the town and did some serious shopping!
My husband and I came to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Our favorite room was ready and much to our surprise a newly remodeled bathroom. The hotel is beautiful and the staff can’t do enough to make our stay perfect. Breakfast at the Mad Batter never disappoints. Dinner at the Cricket Club was delicious. Live music at the bars complete the evening.
Very clean and comfortable room. Included parking can be pain because it’s a 10 min walk or so. If you leave something in your car it can be a hassle. Food at Mad Batter is good and so is live entertainment. Very walkable to lots of shops, restaurants, bars.
Steep stairs and no elevator so be JJ so be aware if
Our visit to the Carroll Villa Hotel was fantastic. The receptionist at the desk was most helpful with suggestions and information to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed our room with a comfortable bed and all the amenities to meet our needs. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Cricket Club restaurant around the corner which is affiliated with the hotel. Breakfast at The Mad Batter, located downstairs, was also a good treat. The location is convenient to the Mall. Also the beach block location was convenient to the Promenade and the beach. The visit to this hotel is well worth the trip to Cape May.
We have stayed at the Carroll Villa numerous times and thoroughly enjoy the family owned establishment. Booking a room was easy and there was excellent communication via email and text reminding us of our reservation and asking if they could be of any help before and during our stay. The room and bathroom were clean and well appointed. The location was ideal and beach, shopping and restaurants were all within walking distance. The restaurant and $30 breakfast voucher added to our enjoyment and the service was great. Highly recommend staying at the Carroll Villa and we will be back!
Always a wonderful stay at Carroll Villa. Hotel is conveniently located near the beach and Washington Street shopping. The Mad Batter restaurant is located on site as is a bar with live music. Food is excellent and the bar has a nice selection of IPA'S and wines. Everyone my wife and I came in contact with were very friendly as usual. We've stayed in other hotels in Cape May through the years. Carroll Villa is the one we come back to.
Thanks,
Jim and Susan Fryer
Stayed in room 25 was small but adequate for me was clean.Staff was very nice and accommodating I had sciatica when I got there so I couldn’t walk around Capemay as planned but it was still a peaceful trip and my relatives came and ate with me at The MadBatter the food was awesome never disappointed and large quantity of food
I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Caroll Villa. The room was clean, comfortable and on point. The restaurant, the Mad Batter, as always was excellent. As a guest there is always a discount at the restaurant so definitely take advantage.
I couldn't recommend this place more. Centrally located between the mall and the beach, it is a winner!
Love The Carroll Villa Hotel in Cape May! From the moment you check in until check out they treat you wonderfully. The coupon for breakfast is great. Best place for breakfast in town. The Blue bar is also great for entertainment every night. We will be back!
First, they were very accommodating when I needed to change my reservation. The staff is the best, both at the hotel and at The Mad Batter. Then, they were kind enough to give us credit towards a future stay when we needed to leave early due to an approaching blizzard. We look forward to our next visit!
This is such a beautiful hotel and is great for couples! The hotel has the original Victorian style feel throughout it while also having a refreshed bedroom look with updated furniture and bath appliances. The staff is very friendly and was there to help us with anything we needed. We especially appreciated the attention to detail the cleaning staff took to making sure our room was as perfect as possible. Look at the swans! The Mad Batter Restaurant is also a great place to get any meal you please. We went for dinner and breakfast and were very happy with our experience there. We also really appreciated the $30 voucher the hotel provided for breakfast. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come stay to stay at the Carroll Villa Inn if we’re back in the Cape May area!
Our first time staying here. We booked in January while having breakfast at their Mad Batter restaurant. Check in was very easy. The room was just as pictured. Very comfortable bed. We had a great turkey sandwich at the bar. Met some really nice people. We received a voucher for breakfast. Service and food were excellent. Love how close it is to the restaurants and shopping in town. This might be our spot to visit Cape May more often.
We had a great experience at Carroll's. The people, great. The location, great. The room, great. The breakfast, great. Cape May, great.
I could go on but you get the idea.
This was our first time at Carroll Villa Hotel. The rooms were so nice, the food at the Mad Batter was excellent! The customers and employees at the bar were so friendly and welcoming. We were so close to the Washington Mall and other great sites. The history, charm, location, food, and staff make the Carroll Villa Hotel an all time favorite, and we can't wait to come back. See you soon, and thank you for your impeccable hospitality.
My husband and I visited Cape May to unwind from the holidays. The staff made us feel most welcomed, and the rest is simply a great testament to the hotel and restaurant management, the bar staff, all waiters, waitresses and the seashore feeling that comes while walking the streets of Cape May. This was our first time staying at CV and it won't be the last. We loved it! Our room was perfect. Free parking, effective 1/1 was a great plus. Thank you to every single person who made our couple days at the hotel, a wonderful and relaxing experience. Jessica xo
The hotel is a beautiful old house and our meals at the restaurant were very good. Our room was pretty but very small (my fault for not thinking about sq footage) and was fine for a one night stay. The only downside to a historic building is the heating unit in the room did not warm the bathroom. This would have been ok, but we only had lukewarm water for showers.
