Pros:

Virtually perfect. Yes, I know that is a ridiculously high bar but I genuinely struggle to think of anything I would change. We stayed for three nights in a Palace Room (their most basic), the hotel is a serene haven, the room lovely. Food (especially breakfast) is outstanding, The pool area (there are 3) has more luxury cabanas than there are rooms so you can always get one. The staff are exceptional, often anticipating what you want before you ask. The only possible shortcoming might be the vibe. If you are looking for a busy nightlife and food photography it’s not the place for you. It is peaceful and classy. You are not allowed to take photos by the pool (hooray!). A totally luxurious retreat you will leave utterly re-charged.

Pros:

The hotel staff misplaced one of our bags that we only realised after we had departed . We were then asked to pay over £100 to return the bag to England , despite it being the hotels mistake . When questioning this I was initially offered a 30% discount on postage & only when refusing to pay this amount did the hotel agree to cover the cost .

the bag finally arrived in England over 6 weeks later but an item was missing . The hotel will take no responsibility for this . Extremely disappointing service which ruined what was supposed to be a special occasion.

Wow!
Pros:

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Being at Son Net feels like you are in a dreamy postcard. The service was second to none. Special shout out to Luigi for tending to our specific needs. The only disappointment was having to leave!

WARNING DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS
Pros:

Note I would love nothing more than to update this review and hope this situation can be corrected. Need to share my experience.

My wife and I booked Grand Hotel Son Net to celebrate our honeymoon. Mallorca was a bucket list destination and this was going to be our splurge on a luxury experience we worked so hard and saved for.

Unfortunately Covid happened and our dreams came to an abrupt halt. Immediately we had to go and cancel or bookings. However Son Net decided to deny our request. It is standard for hotels to have 2 week cancellation policy which we were well within. This place apparently had a zero cancellation policy that was never explicit in our reservation.

This is an expensive hotel and a stretch financially but Mallorca was our bucket list and it was our honeymoon. We were not only devastated about missing out on our honeymoon but also $700+ that we really needed.

We eventually worked with the hotel that kept our money to apply to a credit we could use a a future stay.

Fast forward to April/May 2025, my wife and I finally saved up enough money and time off from work to visit Mallorca and use our credit.

When we went to book they told us our credit expired!? In the hotel communication there was no stipulation on our credit expiring.

They took our money and provided no services. Did not even offer a partial refund which would go along way to make this right. They are doing nothing to make this situation correct and basically stole our money.

I want everyone to know our story and to not give this place your business. There are so many beautiful places to stay in Mallorca so please consider those options before you book here.

Perfect!
Pros:

Just beautiful - everything - the setting, the house and garden everywhere you look there is another photo. The staff are amazing - everyone went over and above to help. The electric bikes were a new experience for us and one we will be repeating. What can I say - Thank you.

Gorgeous views and massages but a few odd aspects
Pros:

The space is stunning. The staff are lovely and the location is great.

Few minor downsides that are annoying for such a new, high end hotel, for example:

- plastic water bottles everywhere (gym, spa, room);
- weird LED lights in the room (aircon etc) impossible to switch off so none of the ‘pitch black’ I love from hotels;
- we checked out two days early due to a home emergency, and whilst we don’t expect any refund, when this has happened in the past, the hotel we stayed at had given us vouchers for their restaurant as a goodwill gesture. Nothing like that here.

There were a few other bits and pieces that seemed a little off (no aircon in the gym, no robes in the spa etc) but I imagine these are due to the hotel being brand new, and will be solved soon.

Overall, I’m not sure I’d return, though the staff and view are wonderful. I may go for a massage - one of the best I’ve had!

Disappointed - will not return
Pros:

Having previously stayed at the wonderful Finca Cortesin we were looking forward to our stay here. Well what can I say apart from the complete and utter disappointment with this hotel which we were all so looking forward to.

Let’s start with the positives mostly excellent staff and very good food. Clean and comfortable.

The negatives
Some staff have bad attitudes especially the maitre d of the main terrace restaurant who acted like there was no issue with the fact that we had sat for 2 hours waiting to get our starter! And the whole meal didn’t end till midnight having sat down at 8.30

The manger of the hotel was appauling and extremely unhelpful and in considerate of the fact my friend got ill having slept in what one can only describe as a fridge as his air conditioning in his room was broken and set to freezing and would not turn off just stuck on 18 degrees. And when I relayed some issues with the staff at the restaurant she didn’t believe i had been told things by her staff and basically looked at me like I was lying!

When you visit a 5 star hotel you do not expect to be treated like a second class citizen. We had to move out one night early because we felt so uncomfortable staying and longer

As far as I’m concerned for the price that they charge there are many better places to visit in Mallorca

Very much enjoyed our stay
Pros:

Excellent hotel - we stayed here for a week in July. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the pool is big, scenic and super relaxing. Staff are unbelievably attentive, friendly and professional. The hotel entire experience oozed grown up sophistication!

The character of the hotel was very Mallorca which I loved. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was because although the food was exceptional, the choices were limited and we were there for one week. I would suggest doing 3 nights for anyone looking to go as it does get a bit repetitive. Also we had a cottage room (with access to the private pool). The room was lovely, very nicely decorated, large bathroom and large terrace but given its such an old structure (nothing they can really do about that) the room was very dark and the air con didn’t work that well.

Exceptional stay at a beautiful property.
Pros:

We had an incredible stay at Son Net. The hotel is stunning - the materials and design are truly beautiful and everything is exceptional quality, even compared to other luxury hotels. We were very impressed. The staff is lovely and we enjoyed all of our meals, drinks, time at the pool and spa immensely. We are excited to return and will enthusiastically recommend our friends visit.

When the staff is more snobbish than the customers … 5 star prices/ not 5 star service
Pros:

We booked for my birthday dinner. At arrival no one was there to welcome us or guide us to our seat. There was staff in the room just looking at us. After we finally called someone over we got our seat we had to ask 4 times for the wine list. After we had our (expensive) wine and water, we had to call over the staff constantly to refill our glasses that were empty, while several staff just walked by, again totally ignoring us. We finally got up and refilled ourselves, followed by an upset staff aggressively topping up. Our cocktails were not the ones we ordered. The staff snobbed us because we took the regular fish instead of the more expensive fish of the day. We had to ask for the dessert menu again three times. At check out my payment didn’t go through and they said it was my cards problem, although they had internet issues all day. The whole time there was plenty of staff chatting and joking around among themselves. When the staff is more snobbish than the customer u know there is a problem. Not 5 star hotel service

Don’t come here if you have a baby
Pros:

Having previously stayed (and loved) their sister hotel, Finca Cortesin, we were excited to stay at Grand Hotel Son Net. While the hotel is nice, there were a number of things that left a bad taste in our mouth.

The good bits:

- The hotel and the grounds are stunning. Especially the pool.
- The breakfast is delicious and service excellent

The bad bits:

- On booking our room (which cost €1500 per night) we were told there’s normally a €95/night surcharge for bringing our 9 month old son but that we would not be charged on this occasion as it’s our first stay. It’s ridiculous that they would consider charging anything to bring a baby. We have never stayed anywhere that levies such a high surcharge for a baby.
- Before we arrived we requested a bottle steriliser for our baby; something that has been free in every other hotel we’ve stayed in. They emailed back saying it would cost €32 to “rent” one for 3 days.
- On arrival, we didn’t even know if we’d come to the right place as there was no one around to greet us (despite security having alerted reception to our arrival when we drove in). We had to go inside and ask at reception to get help. It didn’t feel a very welcoming environment for a 5* hotel.
- We asked for a bowl of puréed vegetable to be brought to our room to feed our son which they charged us €26 for. We didn’t expect to be charged the price of an adult main course for something so simple. We have stayed in multiple 5* hotels with our baby and things like this have always been provided complimentary
- The lunch restaurant doesn’t start service until 1pm and the earliest booking for the dinner restaurant is 7.30pm, both of which are too late if you have young children. We opted for room service but unfortunately the menu is limited and the only options for a main meal are either a salad or burger.
- You have to lock yourself into the room with a large metal key, otherwise the door just pushes open. While we appreciate this is an older property and they’re trying to keep the original features, it also didn’t feel safe.
- At the pool we asked for a water which was brought in a small bottle and we were then charged €7 for this. Again, I would not expect to be charged for water at a 5* hotel. It’s especially odd considering the same water is free in our room.

While the the hotel did their best to accommodate us, ultimately we didn’t feel itit was setup for parents with babies. We felt they were prioritising making a profit from our child rather than trying to make life as easy as possible for the parents.

We would not recommend coming here with a baby.

Superb hotel
Pros:

Beautiful hotel. Scenic location and historic building. Restaurant was exceptional. Breakfast and dinner were superb for service, quality of food and ambience. The bar too for pre dinner drinks. The hotel is focused on adults and not children (so we took our children into Palma and to golf) but for a family a pool villa is a good choice. The hotel staff went above and beyond to help. Highly recommend.

Stunningly beautiful hotel
Pros:

This is a really stunning hotel - 6 stars! Ignore any old photos that you might see online - the hotel has been fully upgraded and renovated in a palatial style and no photos can really do it justice. The drive up to the hotel is lovely and gives you an immediate good impression. Staff were very helpful throughout our stay. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a small two level terrace. We were in a "palace" room and the walk to the room and the room itself have been beautifully decorated with paintings, beautiful fabric wallcoverings and furniture. The courtyard (internal and external) are beautiful and everything looks brand new. The views of the surrounding hills are lovely on a sunny day. The spa area had only opened the day before our stay and was fantastic - every detail is of a very high quality. We ate in the Gazebo restaurant for lunch and the Green bar for dinner - all the meals were lovely. Breakfast was served on the terrace - I would have preferred a buffet but there was a lot of food available on the menu. The pool area is lovely with plenty of cabanas. Only two comments - we did not enjoy the road from Son Bunyola to the hotel as it is a very zig zag road used by 100s of cyclists and quite dangerous so find another route if you are coming from that direction. It is very easy to drive into Palma and the road is very good so better to come that way. Keep an eye on the rates for the rooms as there is a lot of volatility and you don't want to find you have paid over the odds for what is an understandably very expensive hotel.
We were fortunate to stay at a variety of other luxury hotels during our holiday and this was by far our favourite hotel. Highly recommended

The Most Amazing Hotel In The World
Pros:

This was the most INCREDIBLE hotel we have ever been to. The views, the interior design, the service, the staff, the food, the cocktails, the breakfast - everything was far better than we could have ever imagined.

Vanessa, one of the hotel's receptionists, was an absolute delight and gave great recommendations for local Mallorca restaurants and sights to see. Patrick, one of the hotel's bartenders, made cocktails better than any that we had in Madrid/Barcelona during the other legs of our trip. And finally, BE SURE to book the wine tasting experience at the hotel with Marcelle - we had so much fun with him and learned so much.

Overall, we'll remember our time at Hotel Gran Sonnet for the rest of our lives and cannot recommend this property highly enough.
