Great time . Enjoyed the train ride and accommodations and lunch at Grand Canyon layover. If it was cut short an hour it wouldn’t hurt. We didn’t get back until 6:00 pm 5:00 would have been a little better . Long day
Upon arrival we were greeted by some nice receptionists.
We went to our rooms and saw that they were okay, and not too clean. But what was really horrible was the food ! It was absolutely disgusting and seemed like it had been there for days. The buffet was free, but at what cost? You’re better off eating at McDonalds or at the pizza restaurant in the downtown area. Food was frozen hospital food with no flavor whatsoever. Please improve the food! I know it isn’t a five star hotel, but it’s really unacceptable.
The train was so fun! Although you don’t get enough time at the canyon, the experience is beautiful, if you want to ride the train, just take the train. This hotel is below average.
Also, the alarm went off twice in the middle of the night and woke my mom up.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the vacation package that Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel offered. The room was decent for the price. The train ride was absolutely memorable, especially with the care of our PSA, Rob! There were entertainment, laughs, information, and snacks throughout the trip. However, the breakfast and dinner from Fred Harvey Restaurant were the low point of the trip. The presentation and the taste of the foods were not up to par. Still, we would love to return for the train ride and the stay.
The train that takes you to the Grand Canyon was a great experience. Train staff were very professional and personable. The crew member in our car was a great guy and made the trip very enjoyable. We took the train into the park on a Friday and came back to Williams on Sunday. Luckily we had the same crew member in our car (Rob) on both days.i highly recommend the train. It is a great way to visit the Grand Canyon and learn alot about the area on the way.
We stayed here as part of the railway package. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Staff was excellent, well trained and polite. Package while not cheap, was a good value as it was one night accommodation, round trip to south rim, breakfast and dinner at the buffet.
The mock robbery on the train covers up the actual robbery of when you buy a ticket. Save yourself the heartache and simply drive from Williams to the canyon. You have more freedom and $1,200 in your pocket to have a truly great time when you get there. Not at all worth the $$$
We stayed in room 1158 and the room was gross hair stuck to ceiling in the bathroom and some yellow nasty goo all over ceiling. Don't eat at there buffet expensive for what little there is. We stayed on new years eve we went out side to bring in the new year firework show it was raining and cold they had heaters out but knowone could light them finally one person got one going and a man came by and said we cant use the heaters. So the kids are cold and wet but hotel didn't care about families staying warm.
I stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and took the grand tour bus to the canyon. The staff was friendly. The views were spectacular and the bus spared us from too much time on our feet. Everything was timed so you had to keep your eye on your watch so that you were not late for the train or the bus. My day was wonderful.
I stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and woke up to a complete power outage, making basic amenities like light and heat unavailable. The room was dark and freezing, with temperatures in Williams as low as 25 degrees. I couldn’t charge my electronics, and the complimentary breakfast was missed because the restaurant’s power was out. Staff said the power would be restored by 10:30, but our check-out was at 11, so we left without any of the amenities we paid for. When I called to inquire about compensation, I was told they would only refund the breakfast, despite being charged for a room that lacked essential services. The lack of meaningful compensation or assistance from management, including Director Alexander Anderson, was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel if you value comfort and fair treatment during unexpected issues.
The company must have Emergency Preparedness Plan in case of Power Outage for immediate execution. No light was provided in rooms when the power went out .
Given the time of year, I expected there to be a lot of hustle and bustle but to my surprise all of the staff were kind, friendly and very helpful throughout the entire stay. I also believe I got the most bang for my buck experience. I would most definitely recommend staying and taking the train ride to the Grand Canyon.
Beware: If you value your Right To Privacy and Right to use Medical Marijuana, don't come here, they will discriminate. The Management here has harrassed me the entire time. One guy came to me twice while outside in smoking area patio to tell me I cant smoke. Even after I put it out.
He said I have to be 20 ft from the patio but the door has a sign that said 20 ft from door. I was 20 ft from door.
Then later someone else smoked in their room yet they came to our room to harrass and blame me again even though we did not smoke in the room. These people are petty and small and do not treat disabled guests with any respect. They did not even say sorry for invading our privacy and falsely accusing my family of smoking in the room!!!
This place is run by a joke of a management team.
I do not reccomend that come here if you value your rights.
This hotel was decent, not amazing but not horrible. It's great for kids during the holidays although riding the train with kids can be annoying.
Other than its good location, this hotel is solidly average. It’s clean, but nothing else is beyond acceptable.
Rustic and inviting! Great family place or just a get away place. Location is close to everything. Friendly staff and very helpful. Highly recommend
Overall was cute, cozy, and a nice experience. Busy and fun for kids for sure. Only real issue would be I don’t recommend the restaurant, buffet food is not good. The people were nice and it was good.
The adults enjoyed this trip but the children were the true joy to watch. They were fascinated! The train ride was very well done!
The Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel is a well maintained facility, has friendly and informative staff, and the rooms are soooo comfortable.
The trip was amazing. The hotel was great. The train line was super fun. Our kids loved it and we had a great time
Our server Justice at the restaurant was amazing, we loved him and so did our kids
We traveled with our daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids. They had an upgraded room, which was nice for the four of them. Ours was a standard room, both very nice. Everything was so fun. The logistics of staying one night, taking train to GCNP for a night then back to Train Depot hotel seemed complicated but it was seamless. They handle your bags, they appear in your room upon arrival on both ends. The buffet food was good, although it’s so busy they had trouble keeping up, at times. The staff there were all friendly, even though it was busy. We added the Polar Express our last night and loved it. Watching our grandkids, 9 & 6, was special. Bring your Christmas pajamas!
I highly recommend this package, it was an unforgettable time.
