This was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We were put in a stuffy windowless room then told we'd have to pay an extra £20 for the pleasure of a room with a window, which we did. The room wasnt much better, bathroom unclean and smelt like a public toilet. The hotels dated, stains on stair carpet. It needs a massive upheaval.
Location perfect breakfast was great
We're the room was in the basement
Area was beautiful, main lobby stunning and staff were very helpful.
1 Lift was out of order leaving just one small lift servicing a very large number of rooms, we were on 4th floor and that unfortunately meant a lot of waiting around with our luggage.
The room was pleasant but only had one plug socket, it which the tv and mini fridge were already plugged in. For a room that accommodates 3 people this was very frustrating as we couldn't charge phones, use the fan and other appliances at the same time.
Not a lot
Tea bag pot filthy. No toilet paper. Couldn't get the lights to work straight away. Electric box coming off the wall. Only one small lift. Windows filthy. Only one staff on at reception so couldn't get to help us.
The hotel is close to the beach; that is its only advantage.
The hotel is nothing but filth, a bad smell, and bad food.
Nothing
Foisty old smell all over the hotel. Window had to be open due to heatwave and the birds outside all the windows made it impossible to sleep !
Never got any sleep at all
We go every year for our anniversary and it's brilliant. Nice room with a great view of the south bay.
Great location to get to town, the front, parking at npc balmoral.
Some areas of the hotel are run down but it's never bothered us.
Everything at the Grand was of very poor standard, the hotel was uncleaned in the four days I was there, the rooms were also very poorly kept. My 83 year old mother's shower had at least 3 years of lime scale and sprayed straight out of shower and in her face. They ignored our instructions that she was partially sighted and had walking difficulties and needed a walker and to be kept on floor 2 or 3. She was put on the sixth floor, to top it off only one lift was working in the whole hotel for four days . Meaning she could have a minimum of 20 minutes to wait to get into lift to go to reception and the same to go bk to her room. So there was absolutely nothing to like about our stay there.
Location and hotel room dated but comfortable
Lifts were broken ,, a dead pigeon outside
Always love it
Very clean
Room was not what i booked and was in the bottom of the hotel with a window that didnt face anywhere and the smell was bad as well
Rooms are well sized for families
Only one card to enter the room as a group. Reception wouldn't give access to everyone. So couldn't gain access to our Room once the person who had the card went to bed early. Had to sleep in reception. Very poor service. Would not recommend the hotel
This hotel is not pleasant to stay in. Rooms lack basic essentials. No toilet roll holder, no bathroom shelf to place toiletries, no towel rail just a hook on the wall. Decor tired and poor. Furniture in room looks like it was picked up from charity shop. It was noisy and chaotic and not at all relaxing. The housekeeping staff were seen once in the corridor. No one came into our room the 4 days we were there. You have to ask at reception if you need anything.Found what we thought was a quiet area on the 3rd floor, but constant traffic and doors slamming. Food was okay, didn’t starve but not very imaginative. The staff were friendly.
