Unhappy night's rest due to bad bed and wedding reception music made the stay in a lovely hotel very unfortunate.
Pros:

Beautiful facility, remodel and/or restoration very well done.
Lovely staff, pleasant restaurant and good food.

Cons:

Proximity of our room to a wedding reception party meant that the loud dance and celebration music was pounding until midnight.
The bed was the most uncomfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. It was surprising because the rest of the room was very nice.

Pros:

Excellent breakfast but poor evening meal due to lack of staff and a large number of guests. We weren't charged for the evening meal which was not expected but appreciated nevertheless.

Gem in the Borders
Pros:

The rooms have been renovated recently to a high standard. Rooms are big and clean. Diner was very good, the menu had a good selection and the food was fresh and well prepared. Breakfast had a great selection to choose from.
