Really poor hotel and nowhere near any other 4 star I’ve stayed in in the Canaries.
Kids splash area looks nothing like in the photos - it’s tired and the water in the small circular pool was nothing short of disgusting…. Wouldn’t put a dog in it never mind my child!
Food never warm and very repetitive, other guests were joking that when it was Italian night that every night is Italian night!
The hotel looks tired and really needs to close to update certain areas.
The Amstel on draught tasted totally different dependant on the pump it was poured from, only reason I can think of that the pipes must need a clean.
The cocktails out of the machine are terrible and watered down beyond belief.
Some of the staff were ok but some were downright rude and very happy to shrug their shoulders with any issues you may have.
The glass in one of the lifts was smashed and they had used the smallest bit of sellotape to fix it. Massive health and safety in a family hotel and it was like that the whole week we were there.
The hotel is at very best a 3 star (on a good day) and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Piscinas, pequeno almoço
Funcionários na entrada desagradável, barata no meu quarto
Absolutely amazing stay, really clean and attentive staff ( Yasmin) on reception in particular made our stay even more memorable and was so lovely to our little girl Willow. The kids mini disco was brilliant each night made our first family holiday so special and we will definitely be back !! Hasta luego X
Tutto
For context, I am 6 months pregnant and stayed at Abora for 10 nights with my husband and our 17 month old daughter in late April - early May 2026. We booked a package with Jet2.
The corridors are a little tired-looking at first blush, but our family room was spacious and clean. A travel cot (with bedding!) had been set up for us as well as a play tent and a toy, which was a nice touch. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard. We stayed in the block furthest away from the main reception, close to the children’s splash park. There was a little noise at night time from the bars across the road, but with the doors shut it was fine.
The main negative was that the bed is made up of two singles pushed together. This was surprising for a family room and it really was a bit of a pain as the beds kept on moving apart. This made for a few uncomfortable nights. We ended up pushing the beds up against the wall, which helped a little.
The food was varied and tasty. Fresh food was constantly being put out. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and attentive, and there were plenty of high chairs already set up at the tables which was a big help. We didn’t use the snack bar much, but it was handy to grab a quick bite if passing through and meant that we could have an early lunch on our last day.
We did find it a little unusual that there was no bottled water on offer at the hotel, but the water dispensers were fine, although you are not allowed to top up your own bottles.
All of the pools on the kids side of the hotel were very cold, but it didn’t deter our toddler from enjoying the splash park or the slide in the pool. The main pool, on the other side of the hotel by the stage, was heated but still a little chilly.
Our toddler loved the mini disco, which starts at 8.30, but she quite enjoyed staying up late! One criticism however is its location. It is held by the stage next to the main pool and so it is quite dangerous for little ones who are running around and getting over-excited.
The short walk to the promenade is nice. There are lovely views down to the beach and across to the sand dunes. If you walk left along the promenade, you’ll find a shopping centre with bars and restaurants. Access to the beach from the promenade is down about a million steps, so we didn’t try it, as it’s not pram or pregnant friendly!
The free shuttle bus to the beach is handy. There are lots of shops and restaurants there and we walked along to the sand dunes, which are well worth a visit.
We stumbled across a large market just across from the hotel on Wednesday morning, which was good for souvenir shopping. I wouldn’t bother walking to Lidl - it’s a horrible walk and is definitely not pram friendly!
Check out was at 12 noon which was fabulous and meant we weren’t rushing around packing up on our last morning. I wish more hotels were like this!
All in all, we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend this family-friendly hotel.
Las instalaciones
Las camas q no son de matrimonio y no se puede fumar solo en la parte de atrás del hotel
Music from tge pool is loud and constant. Not relaxing at all
Room - 6th floor spacious, kettle, fridge, safe (payable), balcony. Cleaner arrived daily. Our room did face stage which was loud at night while acts were playing but didn’t affect my little ones sleep.
Food - booked half board could not complain warm not much of a variety but never went hungry, as other reviews can get extremely busy considering we stayed after off peak (outside school holidays) I wouldn’t be in a hurry to stay during peak summer months.
Night entertainment- kids disco nightly which she enjoyed (8pm- 8:45pm), another act would start 9/9:30 for an hour or a little over.
Pools- hotel has two large pools these were heated not very warm but ok (found the water at the beach warmer to be honest) there was also a number of shallow pools which were not anyway heated which was a pity as they were really suitable for babies/toddlers.
Daily activities- kids club for kids over 4, they had games for adults and older kids near main stage. No pool games.
Beach- hotel provides free bus would defo use this if you have a buggy as you would have to get down a considerable amount of steps to reach the beach. Bus run frequently.
I enjoyed my stay however probably would not stay again as there was no pool activities during the day, nice to watch or get involved.
I recently stayed at Abora Buenaventura and had an overall pleasant experience. The hotel is well-located, making it easy to access nearby beaches, shops, and local attractions. The facilities are spacious, and there are plenty of activities available throughout the day, which makes it a good choice for both families and groups.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, although some areas could benefit from a bit of updating. The staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any questions or requests.
The food offered a good variety, though the quality could be inconsistent at times. Still, there was enough choice to suit different tastes.
Overall, it’s a lively and convenient hotel with a good atmosphere. With a few improvements, it could be even better.
We stayed at this hotel as a couple in our 40’s from the 16th-30th April. We booked this as a Jet2 All Inclusive holiday and paid around £750 per person, which I think was excellent value.
My review takes in to account the price I paid and that this is a family friendly hotel.
We arrived around 11.30pm and the checking in was very friendly. We paid €2 per night for a safe and a €50 deposit was held on our card for the room.
Even at this time, we could get a drink and a sandwich in the lobby bar area.
We headed to our room, 120, which is actually ground floor, a level below reception. I had read these rooms can lack privacy but thought, let’s give it a go.
We were very pleased with our room, it was a good size, with fridge and kettle. It was clean and modern, yes, on closer inspection it was tired in places and it could have been cleaner.. but we were pleased with it. The two single beds were pushed together, I must say we slept very very well and the mattresses were firm and comfy. The balcony was ok, we found it got limited sun due to the shade from trees, and the views were of the sunbathing area.
The restaurants we used for all 3 meals and we found there to be a good choice, the food was cooked to a good standard and the staff were absolutely fantastic. They are all happy, helpful and friendly.
Overall the restaurant was very good. We used the snack bar many times too, this was always well stocked and great for hot dogs and burgers.
The pool area was quite busy, apart from the cloudy days. We sunbathed each day on the Astro turf area. This had a good mix of sun and shade and there weren’t many people in this area.
It is a very family friendly hotel, I’ve never seen so many young children and toddlers at one hotel. This for me was the only downside, there was a lot of noise, screaming and kicking footballs.
I cannot comment on the entertainment as we didn’t join in or go watch any, but our room was always very quiet on an evening, so that was good.
Overall, for the price I paid, this was a great value hotel, good food, excellent staff and service and overall clean and well maintained.
I would definitely another hotel in this group. But one that’s less family orientated. We liked the location of our room, it was easy to access the restaurants and the pool area.
I’ve read this hotel 4/5 as it was a lovely stay and good value for money.
