Absolutely lovely venue would definitely stay again - Air-con in the room was a real plus.
Pros:

Air-Con and fridge in the room (we stayed during the June 2026 heatwave)
Hi and Low shower options as well as a bath.
Complimentary tea /coffee / water / hairdryer / towels / shower gel in the room on arrival
Lovely breakfast
Large double bed (which was actually two singles pushed together)
Lamps with USB and USB-C charging ports
Ample car parking space

Cons:

If there was one improvement I would suggest at this lovely hotel it would be that the bedroom could have done with having blackout curtains - we had a rear facing room and with sunrise at just after 4am (June 2026) the room was daylight very early on.

Het was schoon en netjes

Cons:

We wilden om half 8 ontbijten, maar de eigenaar gaf aan dat dat pas vanaf 8 uur kon. Ze was er nog niet aan toegekomen om het op de website aan te passen, en overigens ook niet in de informatie op de kamer zelf.
Wij hadden juist deze locatie gekozen om op tijd de ferry in Dover te kunnen halen
Uiteindelijk gaf ze toch toe en konden we alsnog ontbijten (helaas met aangebrande toast)
De eigenaar was een beetje chagrijnig en niet vriendelijk naar het meisje dat haar kwam helpen, ook dat is een verbeterpunt

this was only a one night stay, but myself and my 2 sons had a very nice stay, it was all clean and friendly, nice food and aircon in rooms was great. we are all saying we will make a return

Felt this was a home from home stay and good value for money.
Pros:

Lovely decor, clean, well stocked tea and coffee supply. It was hot when we arrived and there was a very efficient air conditioning unit. Lovely breakfast and evening meal and fantastic staff really helpful. Good car parking.

All ok.

Fijne accommodatie met vriendelijk personeel.
Pros:

De aanwezigheid van airco op deze hete dagen was erg fijn. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk. Lekker gegeten en goed ontbeten.

Cons:

Je merkt wel dat de kamers aan een opknapbeurt toe zijn.
Alles was zeer schoon maar oud. Dat maakt dat de prijs voor een kamer te hoog is.

Nice hotel to stay for visiting Kent
Pros:

Good place to stay with accommodation separate from the pub
Close to Dover and coastal walks and beaches

Avoid Canterbury as it was not that good

Food was good as was breakfast

Aircon in bedroom was needed as it was warm in the evenings, pleased it was working beautifully

Oh and fridge in room, needed for keeping drinks cool
Some hotels don’t have these or aircon

Pros:

This was definitely a 10/10 stay absolutely beautiful.
Food was outstanding 10/10.
Friendly place to stay everybody that works there are amazing I cannot fault this place and I highly reccomend a stay here.

Pros:

Vlakbij Canterbury was fijn. Leuk dat je 's avonds in the pub kon zitten. Ook buiten zitten is mogelijk. Bed was redelijk en de douche goed.

Cons:

De kamer was erg gedateerd en smakeloos ingericht. Vecht vieze vloerbedekking en achterstallig onderhoud in badkamer. De raambekleding kon niet helemaal dicht dus het was erg licht op de kamer.

Nice place with great staff offering good value for money.
Pros:

We visited Howletts and for that reason the location was perfect. The pub was good and we had as very good meal

Cons:

The decor is a bit 1980’s - but so am I!

We always enjoy our stay here,clean,quiet,friendly and great food.
Pros:

We have stayed here before,it’s in a lovely quiet location.On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly staff and popped back to the pub after taking our bags to the room.The staff,and locals were very friendly and polite,in the morning breakfast was excellent and checkout isn’t too early.
