It was so fun to stay at such a historic property! It was absolutely beautiful. The practice was great. Staff was so friendly and helpful. What a special place!
Beautiful part of Lisbon and in a historical area beside the castle.
Very traditional Portuguese style accommodation..
Courtyard was a haven to enjoy after a busy day or for breakfast.
Staff were all very accommodating and friendly.
The beverage station all day was a nice touch.
The happy hour at 6 was also a lovely touch in the lounge and courtyard.
Some taxis were not able to go to the hotel because of road restrictions, so if you get offered a free transfer by the hotel, take it.
The hotel also have a golf cart they can take you and your luggage too the taxi meeting point.
Room service is somewhat limited but there are lots of eating options within 5 minutes walk of the hotel.

I loved this hotel. It was one of my favourite hotels across 5 continents. The staff were lovely, the hotel was charming, the location was ideal for what we wanted (old town), and although our hope was that we might briefly get to see a peacock or two, it got to the point that my daughter was almost bored of them. They were always around, looking gorgeous and entertaining us with their antics. The breakfast was nice and there were always little cakes available. And the history of the hotel was obvious and celebrated.
Nothing that I can think of. I didn't like that we didn't stay longer. I was worried by some reviews that the walk between downtown and the hotel was uphill and challenging and I didn't think we'd want to stay very long if this were the case. Once there, we realized that the location was really nice and well-worth a little extra walk. Our downtown hotel that we changed to was "centrally located" and not nearly as interesting and didn't have as many restaurants, cultural locations, and shops nearby.
It is very cool to stay in a hotel that is within the castle walls. I would definitely check out the museum that is downstairs. It is tiny, but it has very interesting history. They also had a bottle of port in our room and we had champagne every night on the patio. We also had a lot of peacocks. It was fun to see them all. If you want to stay in a private and quiet area of town than this may be the place.
The only draw back is that you have to take a sanctioned Taxi to the hotel, as uber and bolt can not go there. And it is on the top of the hill. So there is a lot of walking.
Wonderful hotel, with intuitive and responsive staff. Quiet location close to good restaurants and tourist sites. Walkable if you can handle hills. Good breakfast set up in lovely surroundings. Absolutely no complaints.
Amazing location!

Intimate hotel located in the heart of the old town next to the castle. Rooms nice overlooking a courtyard garden and a partial river room. Flannels provided, which is a rarity in most hotels these days.
Tea, coffee and snacks available all day, including wine at night as the hotel doesn’t provide a food service other than at breakfast due to the amount of restaurants in the area.

A beautiful property, plus my room was large and luxurious. The staff were very welcoming, kind and helpful. Delicious breakfast.
Not a lot of natural light in my room specifically, but it was so beautifully appointed, that it didn’t affect my stay at all.

Excellent location. Small boutique hotel with only 20 rooms.
A little bit more attention to detail would have made this a 10/10 score. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms - instead they are all on a table in main lounge area together with a selection of cakes/pastries. You just help yourself all day. However, at times staff a little slow to replace items. Similar story at breakfast, had to wait 15 mins one morning for the scrambled eggs to be replaced.
The location so close to the castle, the decor, the peacocks and very helpful staff made for a wonderful base in Lisbon.
