We liked the traditional feel of the building. It was really nice that you could get snacks and drinks all day. Breakfast was very good as well. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall incredible stay.
The only small issue is that it’s hard to get to with Ubers as they don’t have access to the old town so you have to walk with luggage.

Use the buggy up to hotel
Lovely room, excellent and comfortable common areas with snacks throughout the afternoon made the hotel a great place to relax and enjoy a siesta. Breakfast was excellent. Neighborhood was a little touristy during the day due to the castle but quiet and residential in the evening and morning. The hotel staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful, and the transfer to the hotel from our train station was most helpful.
It did not much affect us but it is difficult to reach public transport other than a bus or taxi from the hotel as the neighborhood restricts cars and rideshare vehicles up by the hotel. The hotel is very up front about this in its communications and makes it as easy as possible for you to get to and from the property.

On face value the property is stunning. A beautiful blend of modern -clean- facilities and traditional aesthetics to create a truly wonderful location. The property is not only located right next to a beautiful landmark -Castelo de São Jorge- but the property is also apart of its very history -formerly the kitchens to the castle- with its very own museum to showcase (and if you’re lucky you may get to enjoy one of the local peacocks roaming the hotel grounds). Not only is it located next to a historical landmark but it is situated very well with a lot of things in its surrounding areas such as supermarkets, restaurants and other shops. The staff were a delight! Very kind and always helpful. We didn’t use the taxi service as we enjoyed the walk but it’s great the hotel offer it as the roads may be difficult to traverse if less abled. Cannot recommend enough, we had a great stay. Thank you so much.
Nothing, we loved our stay!
Beautiful location on the highest hill in Lisbon surrounded by a castle! Our room was perfect with windows and doors that lead in the fresh air! Peacocks roam the property making it feel like a fairytale! Oh, and did I mention the breakfast! It was more than superb and I’m so sorry. I slept in the following day and missed it altogether. Jet lag!
Just a short, but lovely walk into town. Would definitely recommend it Solar de Castelo!!!
