Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento

The high quality service and facilities matched the cost. If I'm spending the money...I expect it and that high quality was there...from the introduction of the facility, the comfort of the beds and service in the rooms, fresh squeezed juice upon our arrival, to the guy at the pool laying our towel down for us to reservations when needed and the beautiful breakfast buffet on the terrace. Beautiful.

Our stay at Hotel Mediterraneo has been exceptional from the moment we arrived. One of the things that stood out most was how accommodating the entire team has been. After a long journey from Sicily, being welcomed with an early check-in was incredibly appreciated and immediately set the tone for our stay.

The level of service here is truly remarkable. Every staff member we’ve encountered has gone above and beyond to ensure we are comfortable, and it never feels forced—it feels genuine. The attention to detail is what makes this property so special. From the thoughtful turndown service each evening to the small touches throughout the stay, it is clear that guest experience is at the heart of everything they do.

Breakfast each morning has been absolutely incredible. The selection, quality, and presentation are among the best we’ve experienced, and enjoying it with those breathtaking views makes it even more memorable.

As someone who travels frequently and experiences many luxury properties, what makes Hotel Mediterraneo stand out is not just the beautiful setting, but the people. The warmth, hospitality, and dedication of the staff have made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable experience.

Although not resident in the hotel we booked a table for cocktails on the beautiful rooftop terrace accepting the minimum spend of €40 per head. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table and then - nothing! No one came, no service, no drinks order taken for well over 15 minutes at which point I was so annoyed (there were staff around, just not coming to us) that we left but not before telling them why we were leaving. Gorgeous location but the service was poor. We will not be returning.

ALL the hotel staff were fantastic, the Courteous Bus was brilliant the Location is Good.
We needed a break from everyday life and we achieved it on this trip.

We just returned from a week at this hotel, and after seeing many of the other properties in the area, I can confidently say this hotel has the best location and some of the most breathtaking views in Sorrento.

Pros

The Staff
The staff truly made our stay special. We especially want to recognize Aniello Somma. Every interaction with him made our day better. He has an incredible ability to lift your spirits and make you feel welcome.

We would also like to acknowledge Rossella (or Roxalina—I may have the name mixed up), the dark-haired front desk associate studying to become a teacher. She checked us in, immediately made us feel at home, and went above and beyond when our return flight was disrupted.

Christina at breakfast was wonderful. No matter what was on the menu, she made it sound exciting and special. We also appreciated Alex at the pool, along with Salvatore and Angela at breakfast, who were consistently kind, attentive, and welcoming. There were many others who contributed to making our stay memorable, and we apologize for not remembering every name.

Location
The hotel sits on a cliff overlooking the water and offers spectacular views. It is about a 20-minute walk into town, and the complimentary shuttle runs every 30 minutes, making transportation very convenient.

Pool & Beach Club
The pool area was beautiful, and the staff ensured we were comfortable throughout our stay. The beach club had a fantastic atmosphere, excellent food, and attentive service. The water was chilly but refreshing. One thing to note: the elevator from the beach stops operating at 7:00 PM.

Special Excursions
The hotel helped arrange several private excursions for us. Thomas, our driver, was excellent—professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. We also had a private guide, Johnny, in Pompeii, who did an outstanding job making the experience engaging and educational for our teenagers.

We also visited Positano and Ravello. Both were beautiful, but if I had to recommend one destination in the area, it would be Ravello. The views are stunning, and it feels far less crowded than some of the more famous towns along the coast.

The Hotel & Spa
The hotel itself is elegant, beautifully maintained, and incredibly relaxing. We enjoyed a couples massage at the spa and found the pricing reasonable compared to other luxury resorts. The only downside was that the elevator to the beach passes through the spa, so occasional foot traffic could be heard during treatments.

Food
The food was generally excellent, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Most importantly, my son has food allergies, and the staff consistently made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay.

Cons

I hesitate to list any negatives because we truly loved our stay, but a few items may be helpful for future guests:

During our six-night stay, there were three weddings on the rooftop terrace. We only had one opportunity to enjoy the rooftop views because our excursion days overlapped with the days the rooftop was open. This was one of the features that initially attracted us to the hotel, so it was disappointing to have limited access.

The rooms and bathrooms are quite small. We stayed in three different rooms during our visit, and two of them felt particularly compact. While smaller rooms are common in Europe, these were smaller than expected.

One evening's buffet dinner was average compared to the otherwise excellent food offerings. That said, the live band performing that evening was outstanding.

The pool menu was somewhat limited, with several burger options but not a great deal of variety.

Overall, these are minor criticisms and would not prevent us from returning. In fact, after researching and seeing many other hotels in the Sorrento area, I still believe this is one of the most beautiful and best-located properties available.

Whether you're visiting as a family or looking for a romantic getaway, I highly recommend this hotel. The views, service, and overall experience made for an unforgettable stay.

We returned here having stayed 25 years ago. The pool was lovely well maintained. Very courteous friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. Room was very clean, well maintained, lovely view. Complimentary water every day in your room nice touch. Easy safe parking. Loved the yoga session

Beach pass access

Imagine the most beautiful hotel in the most beautiful place with the friendliest, warmest staff. This is Hotel Mediterraneo. From the moment we arrived Guiseppe and Francesco made us feel like old friends. They took care of our every need, even before we knew what we needed. The rooms are impeccable, the food is amazing, the pool and beach club are beautiful. I cannot imagine a more magical place to stay in Sorrento. We will be back.

We have just retuned home after a wonderful week at the Mediterraneo Hotel. We were with our son and his wife and the 4 of us had an amazing stay. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Every single one of them, they so friendly and attentive.
We had breakfast everyday. It was hard to draw yourself away from the fantastic views. Lunch at the pool bar was also great. The courtesy bus into Sorrento is handy and very prompt. The whole feel of the place is total relaxation with the best of service. We have stayed at a few top class hotels over the years, and this rates up there with the best of them. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff.

My husband and I stayed here based on a recommendation from Grace at Flora Travel. This hotel truly provides the finest Ritz Carlton White Glove experience and then some!! It is beautifully located and every detail is perfect. What makes this hotel truly special is you feel like family. Giuseppe and Ainello and their team from Cortana to Rosabella made our stay simply the best. It’s been two weeks since we’ve been home and we cannot wait to return. Sorrento was our last stop on our two week tour of Italy and we truly saved the best for last. Grazie!

This is, quite frankly, the best hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed for a week while visiting Sorrento this year and we were devastated to be leaving. It had been a hard year for our family, and my mother had injured her knee just before we went, making mobility difficult. We were desperate for a relaxing getaway where we could relax and enjoy the Italian coast while being mindful of her injuries.

The rooms are beautifully appointed, clean, and the housekeeping staff are incredible. The rooms were always refilled with amenities, fresh water and the beds were always made immaculately. If they notice you have dirty laundry, they provide bags for it to keep it out of sight. They are happy to schedule cleaning for later in the day if someone in the party is in the room through the morning. There is a laundry service available and room service is incredible. Yes the rooms are perhaps a little smaller than hotel rooms across the world, but this was absolutely not a concern for us. The balcony was beautiful and I spent many nights out there!

The breakfast is divine. The food on offer is just spectacular, fresh and locally sourced, and the staff are happy to tell you about the origins of all that is on offer. Aside from the buffet selection, there is a variety of freshly cooked breakfast dishes that can be ordered from the menu. The coffee is spectacular and you have never met such friendly and attentive staff. The bar by the pool does a wonderful lunch spread of fantastic food and drink from 12pm - 3pm, including some of the best pizza we have ever had and the bruschetta was addictive. There is a wonderful selection of brilliant restaurants around the hotel, including several partner restaurants with brilliant sunset sea views.

A huge thank you to Carmen, who was always so kind and helpful, and the incredibly kind blonde lady who's name we unfortunately did not get but who was always so helpful, and who we ran into on our way back to the airport! She kissed our cheeks and wished us a safe flight - so kind!

Vista Sky Bar was a wonderful experience. Yes its luxurious but the service and food is well worth the price. Another huge thank you to Antonio and Michael, who made our night absolutely delightful, and were very patient with my father who can sometimes find dining out a little difficult. They answered his questions with patience and made him laugh so much! The view was as beautiful as advertised!

On our second day, we took the hotel's smaller yacht out for a day trip to see Capri and the Italian coast, at the suggestion of Guiseppi at reception (thank you for being so kind despite my father's embarrassing attempts to haggle with you) who told us the weather would be impeccable. He was right!

The boat trip is one of the best things we have ever done. The boat captain, Marco, was incredibly thoughtful, kind and knowledgeable. Despite claiming his English was poor, he was able to converse with us easily. His English was far better than our Italian! He took us to five or six beautiful hidden spots around the coastline, including hidden caves, and a small freshwater waterfall running through the remains of a Roman villa, letting us run our hands under the water. It was the most magical thing I have ever seen. We swam in the sea and he even had beer for the men!

The restaurant he recommended on Capri Island (Bagni Tiberio) had some of the freshest seafood we have ever tasted. Capri itself was beautiful, but be advised it gets very busy and there are long queues to get up and down the island!

The pool area is immaculately maintained, and the staff were so helpful, offering fresh towels, umbrella services and free little drinks. The pool was amazing and I spent many hours in the jacuzzi! The seating options are varied and all incredibly comfy. Another huge thank you to Alessandro and young Rafello who were incredibly charming, kind, and patient with my parents.

Hotel Mediterraneo is stunning inside and out. It is maintained to incredible standards, and we have never had such friendly and helpful staff. Do not hesitate to book this hotel, we can guarantee you will not be disappointed. We are already planning our trip back next year!
