Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento

I stayed for an all too short, but wonderful stay in august with my family (3 teenagers). From Guiseppe's warm welcome and comfortable check in, to the staff's friendly and helpful service at breakfast and poolside, to the nicely updated and well appointed rooms - our stay exceeded expecations. We especially appreciated the good a/c during the heat wave. The La Marinella beach club set up was a total treat and offered great value to our stay. We found the shuttle helpful, but didn't mind the occassional walk home too from city center. I'd highly recommend this updated property with great amenities to those looking for a 5 star escape.

Sorrento was a great trip for us made even better by the hotel. Hotel Mediterraneo was brilliant. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff were kind and accommodating. Nothing was ever too much, and we noticed that throughout our whole stay. On arrival, Giuseppe sat us down and took us through everything we needed to know. He was a real standout throughout our visit. He'd catch up with us most days as we walked past reception, asking how things were going or what our plans were. We had plenty of laughs and friendly chats with him. It wasn't just a quick hello - he built a genuine rapport with us, and that made the stay feel more personal. It's very clear why he's the first person you see. Alessandro, who greeted us at breakfast most mornings, was also a standout. He was very friendly and would remember little things which is really impressive given how many guests he must see. Someone that clearly tries very hard in his role.

Breakfast itself was excellent. There was a lot of choice from the buffet plus à la carte menu with plenty of options. The cooked dishes were just the right size. Not too much, but enough when you're also helping yourself to other bits. And the view while eating breakfast was incredible – a very nice way to start the day.

Our room was fresh, airy, and comfortable, and for the majority of our stay, it was very quiet. There were a couple of evenings right at the start, over the weekend, where music from the rooftop bar could be heard until around midnight. The rooms are soundproofed to a degree we’d say, but on those specific nights the music was still quite loud from our first floor room. After a full day of exploring, we sometimes hoped to be asleep by around 11, so on those nights it did make that difficult. Perhaps keeping the volume a little lower later on would improve the experience for guests who aren't using the rooftop bar. The bathroom was great too. One small thing I'd flag is the shower head. It looked a bit older than the rest of the bathroom and a bit out of place. It seemed like it had reached the end of its life and could do with replacing. It did seem to affect the water pressure on and off, but it certainly didn't feel like a cleanliness issue.

The complimentary shuttle into town was fantastic. We ended up using it more than we thought we would. We enjoy walking, but on hotter days, the shuttle was a great option. Even when one was full, they were often very accommodating, putting on additional runs where possible.

The private beach did sound very cool when we booked but we didn't use it in the end. From the way it's advertised, we thought it might feel a bit more private to hotel guests. However, when we went down to take a look, it was very busy with lots of people around. It looked perfectly okay, but it wasn't the relaxing vibe we had imagined, so we decided to stay by the pool instead. Honestly, the pool was so good that we didn't feel like we missed out. I wouldn't call it a negative; it's just something to be aware of.  On that note, the pool area was a highlight. Plenty of sunbeds, good service, and a really nice atmosphere. The only thing I'd say is that the lunch and snack menu felt very limited and a bit pricey on the days we stayed by the pool. A few lighter options would have been good.

The rooftop bar had incredible views and the service was excellent. The problem for us was the pricing. At 25 euros for a cocktail and a silly amount for a bottle of wine, we would have loved to spend more time up there, but it just didn't feel justifiable. We did go up twice. Once to see it and once for the fireworks on our final night, which that was nice. However, the atmosphere just felt noticeably different from the rest of the hotel. It did feel like it was aimed more at a wealthier clientele, which felt excessive. It made the space feel a bit separate from the otherwise welcoming, normal vibe elsewhere. The drinks we did have were well made, the views and service spot on, but overall, it just felt more exclusive than we expected.

The turndown service in the evenings was a lovely touch, and the cleaners did a really good job of keeping everything tidy.

Overall, the whole experience was great. The hotel was honestly a real highlight for us and while there were a few small things that could be looked at, nothing that would stop us recommending it or coming back again in the future. Thanks to all the staff as they really are brilliant.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Even before arriving Pina did everything she could to organise our stay so it was unbelievable. The service by all staff at the hotel was out of this world. The Vista Skybar was beautiful and the view of the sunset from up here was incredible. We had a stunning meal in the Vesuvio Panoramic where Luigi really looked after us and the food was amazing. Angela at breakfast was fantastic each morning and looked after us in the pool restaurant too. I would love chatting to Rossella on reception each evening about where we had been to eat. We had a lovely room on the front with a seaview, which I would highly recommend. I cannot say anything negative about my stay here and we have stayed in some stunning hotels over the years. I will definitely return to this hotel in the future and highly recommend.

Mijn partner en ik hebben de luxe gehad om negen nachten in dit prachtige verblijf te overnachten, dichtbij de Italiaanse hotspot: Sorrento.
Bij aankomst werden wij van harte welkom geheten door het hoofd van de frontdesk en liet ons landen door middel van een glas cava en lichtte ons toe over het hotel zelf en haar faciliteiten, wij hadden hierdoor vrijwel geen vragen meer. Na een korte rondleiding van hem in onze kamer was onze vakantie op locatie dus echt begonnen.
Het ontbijt was iedere ochtend een feest. Niet alleen was het uitzicht adembenemend, maar was het ook erg lekker en proefde je goed dat alles vers was. Het zwembad die bij het hotel hoort is zelf ook vijf sterren en de bijhorende zwembadbar met haar vriendelijke personeel en lekkere keuken zorgde ervoor dat wij op niks hoefden te letten.
Hotel biedt ook toegang naar de beachclub door middel van een lift die zelf in het hotel zit. De spa is ook een feest geweest met een massage die ons geheel tot rust bracht.
Niet alleen voldeden de medewerkers aan hun werk om ons een complete onbezorgde vakantie te bieden met schone kamers, lekker eten, prettige dienstverlening en telkens goede tips om te gaan dineren, maar bieden zij een helpende hand. Mijn vriend was zijn zwembroek de laatste ochtend kwijtgeraakt en hadden hierdoor helaas geen tijd om nog verder te zoeken. Niet alleen heeft het hotel deze zwembroek nog gevonden, maar hebben zij hem ook weer terug naar Nederland gestort en de kosten hiervan gedekt.
Kortom: een super hotel en gaan hier zeker weer heen, mochten wij ooit weer in dezelfde regio zijn. Dikke aanrader!

Amazing 6 days at this wonderful classy hotel for my wife'sbirthday , superb location , amazing service & staff , beach club & pool perfect we will be back

We spent 7 nights at the Mediterranean, it is just outside Sorrento however we did walk to the centre a couple of times and didn't find it that far, maybe 25mins. The shuttle takes you to just outside and is very convenient. The staff were superb always helpful and keen to create a lovely experience. The hotel offers a skybar and a fine dining restaurant , we ate at lunch time and the food was perfect but chose to go out in the evenings. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with super views over the bay. We also used the sunbeds down on the small beach. It's set aside from the public area and does feel very tranquil first thing. The drinks are expensive being our only gripe. The rooms as you will read from other reviews are a little small and have limited storage but they are high quality and the cleanliness is excellent. We travelled to Pompeii using the train from the local station which is a short walk away. I would not hesitate to recommend and in fact we are likely to return but will try and avoid the summer as Sorrento gets very busy. There is a little sandwich type shop we also used for lunch that serves drinks across the road. It's a fraction of the price and very good. We used it a couple of times.

The view was fantastic. The food was ok.. little and heavily overpriced. Valuetrapp. We was 6 friends from Norway.

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful location, fabulous staff and great facilities and food. Faultless. But check room size, ours was fine in terms of facilities/cleanliness but a bit small. Our mistake not the hotels’.

The pool, beach club are superb. No service issues considering it was very very busy. Very welcome shuttle service into Sorrento (although it’s an easy walk) which runs every half hour. This hotel has thought of everything….highly recommend.

The staff is incredible. The views are so outstanding. The food and drink is 5-star. The beach pass is key and all the amenities. Very kind and accommodating people with a great sense of the full Italian experience.

La vista dal terrazzo è bellissima

A magnificent hotel in a great location with a crazy good breakfast and incredible staff.
We used the hotel as a base and did day trips all over the region. Everything was top notch.
If you want to chill, the pool and beach access are incredible. Both areas very different but really great in their own way.
Also complimentary shuttle to and from town every 30 minutes was a fantastic feature.

Location cleanliness pool area and beach area all clean and beautiful. Gym well supplied. Shuttle into town was very convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was incredible. Hard to believe it was included.

It was our first time in Sorrento and my husband and I definitely chose the best hotel to stay. From the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty and all the staff are warm, friendly and attentive. Everything and I mean everything about this hotel is fantastic but it’s the staff that make this hotel truly special. I’d like to thank all the staff for making our holiday a magical one that we’ll never forget. We’re already planning our return trip!

The high quality service and facilities matched the cost. If I'm spending the money...I expect it and that high quality was there...from the introduction of the facility, the comfort of the beds and service in the rooms, fresh squeezed juice upon our arrival, to the guy at the pool laying our towel down for us to reservations when needed and the beautiful breakfast buffet on the terrace. Beautiful.

Our stay at Hotel Mediterraneo has been exceptional from the moment we arrived. One of the things that stood out most was how accommodating the entire team has been. After a long journey from Sicily, being welcomed with an early check-in was incredibly appreciated and immediately set the tone for our stay.

The level of service here is truly remarkable. Every staff member we’ve encountered has gone above and beyond to ensure we are comfortable, and it never feels forced—it feels genuine. The attention to detail is what makes this property so special. From the thoughtful turndown service each evening to the small touches throughout the stay, it is clear that guest experience is at the heart of everything they do.

Breakfast each morning has been absolutely incredible. The selection, quality, and presentation are among the best we’ve experienced, and enjoying it with those breathtaking views makes it even more memorable.

As someone who travels frequently and experiences many luxury properties, what makes Hotel Mediterraneo stand out is not just the beautiful setting, but the people. The warmth, hospitality, and dedication of the staff have made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable experience.

Although not resident in the hotel we booked a table for cocktails on the beautiful rooftop terrace accepting the minimum spend of €40 per head. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table and then - nothing! No one came, no service, no drinks order taken for well over 15 minutes at which point I was so annoyed (there were staff around, just not coming to us) that we left but not before telling them why we were leaving. Gorgeous location but the service was poor. We will not be returning.
