Vila Gale Marina Resort Hotel

This is our second visit and the location couldn’t be better, a few minutes walk from the marina and right in the centre of Vilamoura. Our room was on the 5th floor with a beautiful view over the marina and out to sea. We were B&B and the breakfast was lovely, not too busy and a plenty to choose from. The only negatives are that the hotel is definitely in need of improvement in the communal areas especially, it’s clean but very dated now, dreadful old carpets in the corridors. Staff are however very friendly and helpful. Didn’t use the pool as it was October but we did enjoy drinks and snacks at the pool bar.

Spent a week at this hotel in early January. While there were relatively few residents (mostly golfers), the hotel was fully staffed and fully functional.
Check in was flawless and a room was assigned was on the 7th floor with a perfect view of the marina. There are certain balconies that would appear to get more of the sun than others, which may be an issue for some, but wasn't for us.
The twin standard room was spotless, perhaps a little on the small side, but larger rooms are available in the hotel. The servicing of the rooms and hotel in general was exceptional. Staff were regularly seen cleaning windows , floors and communal areas.
The breakfast selection was excellent, as were the restaurant staff, ensuring all food options were replenished and tables kept clean. It was also a pleasure to have fresh omelettes and eggs cooked to order. Obviously this was off peak but we couldn't fault the breakfast.
We tried evening dinner one night and once again we not disappointed. Food and service was excellent. Perhaps it was the fact it was off peak meant there were very few in the restaurant.
Check out was also flawless and it was a pleasure to stay here.

Nice hotel.

Our rate included breakfast which had a good choice.

Good walk in shower with toiletries provided.

No tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room.

Had to take our golf clubs to the room as there is no storage facility provided.

Three minute walk to the Marina and beach where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

The facility could do with investment, it’s a bit tired. The beds are comfortable and the rooms
are clean. Good views of Marina

First of all I dont normally write a review im easily pleased and normally shut up and put up, but feel as though I need to inform people who are going to book this and think  this is a good quality 4 star hotel to think again!!!
Pluses First of all fabulous location.
Rooms are spacious along with the balcony and if you enjoy your TV whilst having a bit if chill time in your room plenty of channels to choose from. Pool area is good plenty of beds but quite a lot are in the shade which i suppose is not the hotels fault thats just the design and location i guess.

Now for the negativity.
Make sure you bring your own beach/pool towel the ones given by this hotel are just about shy of being a teatowel. A trailing socket would be recommended to bring the few plug sockets are nowhere near any mirror which makes it very awkward for us ladies to do your hair and makeup. A kettle can be acquired if you ask at reception but replenishing supplies is impossible.
The hotel bar inside is drab and virtually unused but live bands play on a regular basis which I actually feel sorry for playing to non existing crowd, a lot more thought by the management by using some soft lighting inside would make it more inviting, same as the outside bar area dark and dingey no soft lighting at all.
Breakfast very average nothing special at all but is edible.
Think twice about choosing this hotel thinking its a four star it definitely needs regrading at the very most a 3 star hotel!!!!

Big hotel in an ideal location, minutes from the beach and marina .

Rooms :Nice big rooms ,big bathroom with a lovely shower.Only downside is there's no tea/coffee facilities in the room ,you've got to ask at reception for a kettle .Also no iron.Beds are comfortable enough but pillows a bit too hard .Nice balcony with good views .Big mirror in the room but no plug socket nearby .
Tv with lots of English channels,(we only had it on whilst getting ready to go out,but ideal if you have kids with you).

Pool:Pool area is well laid out but it's only a sun trap later on in the day (no sun on any of it early morning).No problem getting a lounger late September.

Dining :We had breakfast a few mornings, nothing special very basic but it's OK, don't know why there's only small plates though.

Hotel : well first of all it's classed as 4 star but I would only rate it 3 star ...night time you can drink outside near the pool area but the lighting is bad ,the bar inside was dead every night even a Saturday night when the singer was on ,only 2 people in the bar as I passed at 9.30pm .This might  have something to do with the fact the bar area although quite big is dark and unappealing, it has no character at all.
Management I think need to change things to make the bar area more appealing...singers may be on now and then but never advertised .

Over all for the price you pay for this hotel is too expensive, it must be because it's a good location. (Ive stayed in the Luna olympus next door and it's much better and cheaper usually.

we were a group of 20 male golfers/drinkers and loved our stay (2nd year running), we have already booked again for next Sept. Hotel is good with the sea-view rooms being best and have great beds. Breakfast we ok with plenty of choice but to be honest I was sick of eggs after a week, staff in all parts were great. location perfect. I do not understand what some people want with the poor reviews....mainly adult hotel.

The hotel is a fantastic location, super close to the marina, on that respect I cannot fault it. The pool is a good size and we never had any issues in reserving sunbeds (though I appreciate this might not be the case in peak summer) we had great views overlooking the pool and could see the sea from our balcony.

The cleanliness of the room was quite a let down, the bedside lamp was covered in hair and dust and I also found hair rollers on the floor which didn’t belong to me so showed the floor had not been cleaned properly. I felt the rooms were dark, there only lighting is lamps around the room (no “big light” and there is a lack of plug sockets. For any travellers wishing to style their hair you might struggle as the plugs are nowhere near the mirror in the room and even if they were it’s so dark you wouldn’t be able to see anyway. The restaurant and bar also had a dull atmosphere and again felt really dark. I feel like this hotel is definitely due a refurb, it feels dated and I’m not sure it reflects the 4 star rating.

This 4 star hotel is in the perfect location to stroll to the beach or marina. We found the bedroom very comfortable and well serviced. The breakfast was great, so much variety. Lunch at the pool bar is recommended. The chicken salad was delicious, the toasted sandwiches are very good value and tasty. Good choice of drinks. The staff are very welcoming. We were extremely grateful to receive a complementary bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries for our anniversary stay at the hotel. The hotel caters for golf groups, adults and families. The pool is small for the size of the hotel but safe for young children. There is no baby pool and sunbeds can be scarce. The outdoor jacuzzi is very popular. There is a kids club but my 8 year old didn’t have much interest in attending so can’t comment on this. After spending 4 nights here both my husband and I agree that we would love to return for a longer stay in the future.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights and it was very enjoyable. All the staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. Rooms are well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, great choice of food, both continental and cooked. Would definitely return.

Was a very poor stay.
The hotel itself was clean and tidy, rooms were cleaned everyday which was nice and the view was stunning, a bit dated but it was suitable for what we needed. No issues there.

However, the staff were not friendly at all. Reception staff on arrival were very unwelcoming, staff at the pool bar were also very rude, service was extremely slow, we had to ask 3 times for part of our order after waiting for so long. A lady at the pool bar would just throw the receipt down and was not pleasant at all.

They had a man working at the reception, Angelo, who made a comment regarding us being brits shaking his head, we also had him on check out and he took my key card and said "thats you done" no questions on the stay or a goodbye. Felt very unwelcomed whilst staying there.

The breakfast was very poor selection, if you are not down there before 8:30 be prepared to be waiting in a massive queue to be seated. Some waited 30 mins plus. There was the same scrambled egg, cocktail sausages, bacon, bread and beans for cooked breakfast.

If you want a bed in the sun only one part of the pool area gets it all day, the rest are in the shade for either majority of the morning or the latter part of the afternoon. Of course not their fault, but a heads up in case you like to sunbathe all day.

The ladies doing the massages at the pool and the reps were really nice and friendly but that was about it, we looked forward to leaving each night to go elsewhere for food.

Will not be looking to return.

Rooms were clean, but that’s the only positive. Staff were cold and unwelcoming from the moment I arrived. Breakfast was a joke — a 15+ minute queue stretching into reception for a disorganised, low-quality buffet.

Lunch by the pool was a comedy of errors: waited over 45 minutes for an ice cream, and when my salad and wrap finally arrived, there was no fork. I asked for one and was told to “come grab one” — how exactly am I meant to eat salad without cutlery? The attitude from staff was lazy, careless, and completely indifferent.

Never in my life have I been so disappointed in a hotel or felt so much like a burden just for asking for basic service. Sunbeds were like gold dust, the hotel looks stuck in 2005, and the whole place feels like a money-making machine with zero interest in its guests.

The location is the only redeeming feature — and even that isn’t worth enduring the queues, bad food, and appalling service.

We visited the spa to stock up
Found groups of men on stag and golf trips like this location, but did spoil it for us .

We visited with our family and grandchildren ages 11,6 and 4
Who loved the pool . The hotel is constantly cleaned

There was evening entertainment in the bar which was always empty

I would come back as value for money was good with jet 2 for 9 of us with free child places .
If it could sum the hotel up in one word which would be adequate .
If you want luxury , waiting on hand and foot , or to feel like a lord on holiday pay more .
This hotel is clean and tidy, location Is great and good value for money .

Weird observation was the Neptune character that appears by the pool in the morning about 9 waving at children , it’s a bit creepy and you don’t see it again until the next morning . Creeped my grandchildren out .

Well I have never reviewed a hotel negatively before but I've sitting in the hotel reception still waiting for our room to be cleaned. We left the room at 9am this morning and it's now 4.40pm and I have spoken to reception 3 times in the last 2 hours for some in housekeeping to service the room and I've been told new guest rooms are given a priority and it coukd be up to 5.30pm before it gets done. God forbid if you to need to go somewhere!!!!

Please read the full review as there are really good things about the hotel - referenced first but there are also areas for huge improvements.

Booked through Jet 2 as a 4 star package for a week - had been several years ago to the same hotel and thoroughly enjoyed. Not cheap but expecting to be good and relaxing for our wedding anniversary.

- Room - very clean and spacious and well kept - good storage and good sized shower room with great water pressure.

- Housekeeping - a bit on/off - sometimes did not come even though sign out but can live with that

- Staff - breakfast area staff brilliant - as was the choice at breakfast, but some bar staff and reception staff were sour faced and grumpy. We asked for tea making facilities that should have been provided, by day three the lady on reception was clearly cheesed off that we were still asking for them.

- Facilities
- Outdoor pool and bar - good and clean and well stocked - lots of sunbeds and a hot tub - you can observe them cleaning and chlorine dosing the pool
- Indoor pool - small and has to be pre booked and only for 1 hour, will be busy in colder seasons
- Entertainment - each evening in the bar and generally good but felt sorry for the artists as often playing to nobody but sure will be one Summer season kicks in
- Kids club - we didn't use but observed taking place and kids looked happy and entertained
- Free towels for the pool which is great, saves packing lots of beach towels

Downside which totally spoilt our holiday......

Is used by large groups of chaps on golfing holidays - some very pleasant but others not.

Unable to relax at the pool when they were on site - they literally took over and shouting, swearing, throwing stuff at each other, dive bombing into the pool, playing loud music round the pool (Eminem and other rap not suitable for others), tipping each other in from sunbeds, inappropriate wolf whistling to ladies, being permitted to take drinks into the pool and hot tub despite signs not permitting.

MANY FAMILIES AND COUPLES AVOIDED TIMES WHEN THEY WERE THERE AND WHEN WE DID COMPLAIN IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE HOTEL ACKNOWLEDGED WAS AN ISSUE BUT COULD/WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT

Simple maths, 40 chaps drinking pints of lager at 8 euros each every half hour, then the hotel were raking in over 600 euros an hour- complained to a manager who acknowledged that was little he could do - also went to reception to log a complaint to be advised by Little Miss Surly that they don't have a complaints procedure/form or any mechanism to complain!

Same chaps - when not hogging the pool were like vultures at breakfast - no use of tongs, grabbing food. pushing into the queue and generally being really loud, lots of swearing and bad language

Same chaps - when coming home drunk at 3 in the morning charging along corridors, shouting and swearing, on one evening a full blown fight in a room on the floor below could be heard and when sitting on balconies playing full blast music - no real thought for others.

A hotel should treat all customers equally and fairly, we accept that this large group were here to enjoy themselves the same as us - in the case here, there is too much blind eye profit going on - maybe they should rebrand themselves differently as a relaxing hotel it is not - I know that this group are ones we experienced, but having now looked at other reviews, which we did not before, it seems is a common occurrence.

Had I wanted to be in the middle of this type of behaviour then maybe I would have chosen a very different holiday at a much lesser price - possibly on the strip in Benidorm??

My self and daughter have just spent 4 days at The Vila Galé Marina and really enjoyed our stay.I had read a few mixed reviews for us it was great.Our room was modern and spacious and was cleaned daily with fresh towels.The location was ideal literally opposite the marina and close walk to the beach.We found the staff friendly.We only went bed and breakfast but that was tasty and hot and the food served for lunches outside was really tasty,we became slightly obsessed with the ham and cheese toasties and very reasonably priced.There was never an issue getting a sun lounger but I don’t know what this would be like in the height of August.There was nothing on in the evening entertainment wise but that did not bother us as I said you are so close to all the bars on the marina.I would definitely stay again 😀Only tip i would give is we stayed in room 622 and this side of the hotel never go the sun on the balcony morning or eve so not great if you that is something you like.

Rooms are clean and spacious with a good view overlooking the marina , and the hotel is in an excellent location only being a short walk to the marina 5-10 mins so can easily get to the bars and restaurants. And is also not a long journey from the airport.

Hotel is a bit old, rooms are small and outdated. Breakfast was average with little selection. Best part of the hotel is its location a few steps from the marina.

We spent 5 nights in Vila Gale Marina for a golf trip and could not fault anything. The breakfast was standard but lots of options including freshly made omelettes. Beer was reasonably priced at €5.50 which for a hotel is expected. Towels changed daily and room cleaned daily. The views were also very good from the balcony it overlooks the pool and you can see the Sea a small bit. The hotel is literally 3 minute walk from the Marina so you couldn't ask for a better location. All in all I cant fault this place and we are already planning to return in 2026.
