Dog friendly
Too many floaties in the pool to be able to swim
Too expensive for very mediocre room
Tiny fridge
No microwave
Very expensive drinks at bar
The property was beautiful. The beds are extremely comfortable and the cleanliness is good :)
Loved the fire pit outside and that they came to turn it on fast.
I wish there was more variety of food or even a continental breakfast for the 300$ we paid the night. And we did not like we had a pay a extra pay for parking
I wanted to a quick overnight getaway and a chance to swim after a long time. This was perfect, I was initially attracted the photos of the pool, the price was right and the location looked central. I was not disappointed, the staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby and rooms cute and eccentrically decorated, and the pool and large hot tub were fabulous. What a fun place for families with kids--lots of games for them and floaties in the pool and s'more kits for a large gas fire pit. I was alone but didn't mind the kids and was able to swim easy laps at 6:30pm and again in the morning--the pool was mostly empty until 11:30am. The poolside food service looked decent as did the inside/outside bar/restaurant though I didn't partake. Downtown and a Trader Joe's are a short walk across a park and pedestrian bridge.
While I was on the first floor in an area used as a walkway to get to the lobby, I didn't find it loud after 10 pm and super quite until after 8:30 am. I think the walls are thick enough....
It is always FUN staying at the Paradox! It’s a friendly place for kids and dogs. They know how to keep everyone entertained by providing games to play and homemade treats for dogs. The pool is one of my favorites.
The price during peak season.
Good location in Santa Cruz.
There was a whistling in our room coming from a leak around the window so when the door was closed the wind whistled through. People had tried shoving bits of kleenex into the fap to stop the noise, unsuccessfully. They were full and couldn’t move us. Offered to reduce the rate which I accepted but they never credited my card. Paid $247 for a terrible night. Had to sleep with earplugs.
The beds were very comfortable.
The air conditioning in our room did t work we had it worked on to no avail. You could tell the property was old and they tried to make it look new and cool it just felt dirty.
We had a great stay. The pool area was very nice, and the kids especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub, drinks, and snacks available nearby. We did not eat at the small on-site restaurant, but it looked inviting.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shower with stone flooring was a nice touch. This is a great place for families visiting Santa Cruz. We would definitely stay here again.
It is a Bonvoy - only reason. Chose a rate online for the free breakfast.
Loud HVAC in the room did not allow sleep. Construction on room 501 in the room next to me (ironically placed down the hall to avoid noise...) was very annoying. I would NOT recommend this
In a nice location, proximity to things.
Found dirty underwear under the bed. Also neighbors blasting movies/music all night long. Paper thin walls but staff won’t help.
Reception and foyer area was nice. Staff were friendly. The pool and gym were great and kept clean.
Given a room with an accessible bathroom which was not very clean and also the shower head over the bath was extremely low. I am 6’3” and taking a shower was painful on my knees having to limbo back under the shower head. Didn’t enjoy that part.
There was enough room for a taller shower head on a longer adjustable rail. Easy fix there.
We asked to have an earlier checkin. No effort was made. We were attending a wedding and had to leave by about 2pm. I do not believe that all the guests checked out at mid day. They could have had the room ready at staggered times. Considering how much we paid we did not receive any value.
It certainly wasn't worth the $500 a night that we paid. The rooms were very basic, the beds were comfortable but there was no effort to make our stay worth even $120.
