Positiva, struttura ottima e tranquilla, posizione facile da poter raggiungere località turistiche da visitare.
Location meravigliosa, personale impeccabile!
We visited this hotel as part of a tour group recently. There are not tea or coffee making facilities in the room. The shower was dark, small and mouldy. The plug in the washbasin was broken and the toilet flush just kept running until you banged it. No matter which controller you used or how often you switched it off the television kept switching itself on even in the middle of the night in the end my husband unplugged it. There was no hot food for breakfast not even a toaster and no restaurant on site. To eat at night you must negotiate a dark drive to an American diner.
We booked to stay for 8 nights but had to leave early. I can’t praise reception staff enough - always professional, responsive and helpful. We had a room with a mezzanine bedroom - lovely but I hadn’t thought that our bedroom would be on another floor and have arthritis so it wasn’t ideal. We were moved to another room the next day while we were out. It was lovely.
My suggestions for improvements would be 1. Charging €2.50 per person per swim to use the pool is overpriced and it was not a surprise that nobody used it during our stay. 2. Service at breakfast was hit and miss. A female member of staff and her male colleague were really smiley and helpful but the other female colleague appeared to see her job as an imposition getting in the way of her ability to flirt with contractors and resented being asked for anything.
3. Having experienced a number of your mattresses because of needing to move I’d suggest an audit and overhaul as half of them are past their best and frankly uncomfortable.
As others have said you really need to have a hire car to stay at Calamidoro Hotel. As a base it was great and we enjoyed Florence, Volterra, SAN Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa and the excellent Italian train system. As a driver most fellow drivers are chilled out compared to stressed UK drivers so don’t be afraid to give it a go!
This hotel could be more than it currently manages to be. It’s got the location but needs attention to housekeeping and waiting staff customer service standards.
Take Piriton tabs with you - in Italy it’s not licensed for tablet form and tbh nothing is a better antihistamine (unless you are driving)! There are millions of small biting insects in Tuscany.
Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff
Long way from Pisa in industrial area
Restaurant was closed for restyling and nearest alternative a taxi ride away costing 40 to 50 euros
Stayed for a week here September 2019 having booked with Fleetway Travel. Told it was a relaxing place to stay which it certainly is. The staff are very helpful and attentive, rooms comfortable if a little dated, cleaned everyday, shower hot, breakfast good. However, the hotel is situated in a commercial area on a fast moving road, entry via a petrol station. There is no longer a restaurant on site, you have to go outside the gated entrance to find a couple of places to eat, an American burger bar or The Kings Angus steakhouse (very expensive, no menu offered or prices to view). Il Barrino cafe bar, next to a pharmacy, is good for an evening drink.
A car is really a necessity to get anywhere, otherwise you are stuck here. Extra expenses incurred to go out by taxi then train to places nearby like Pisa or Lucca, this takes over an hour depending on train times. Lovely as Tuscany is, you would hope to be able to leave your hotel and wander round the local area to go to a for a drink or shops. You cannot do this here unless you want to walk along an extremely busy road without a proper footpath to the local supermarket or Lidl for 20 minutes! Not what we were expecting at all and we were both quite disappointed.
Excellent service, the staff was superb, very helpful and friendly. Location is very good as you can easily access Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena.
We had really good time and will come back.
Rekommenderas om du söker lugn och avkoppling. Trevlig serviceminded personal.
Ottimo albergo, servizi e disponibilita’. Pulizia impeccabile cosi come tutti i servizi connessi all albergo. Nonostante alta stagione prezzi ragionevoli e qualita prezzo decisamente ottima. I miei complimenti.
Mooie omgeving bij een golf baan.
Rustig gelegen nabij diverse uitgaansgelegenheden. Nabij Pisa en Lucca
Nice hotel om a golf course. Very Nice relaxing place.
Close to Pisa and Lucca.
An amazing property! Whilst it seems to be along the road, it is actually rather secluded and we could not hear any noise (except for the disco bar outside the hotel gates). The premises are split into a number of small villas which have rooms. The rooms are of a very good size and the bed is comfortable (though the pillows could be of a better quality). There is a beautiful lake at the hotel premises and the area is gated, so very safe. Ample parking outside the hotel gates but there are a number of parking lots inside. There is a lovely swimming pool with a pool bar, so a great opportunity to relax :) The breakfast was basic but offered the normal variety - yogurts, hams and cheeses, fruits, etc. All in all, a great hotel for a very reasonable price! Would return for sure!
We just stayed the one night at the end of our package tour of Tuscany. This hotel was the perfect way to round off our holiday. When we checked in the staff were concerned that we may have problems with the room we had been allocated, so they showed us that room and also an alternative. We chose the alternative room as we agreed with them the original room may cause us some problems. So we thank them for their consideration and their kindness. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and have everything that you need and are of good quality. Rooms are warm, and windows can be opened to cool down. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is continental and has everything, but no hot food. The hotel is a gated resort, so we went for a meal just outside the resort gates and were taken and collected by the hotel minibus. We would recommend this hotel.
Hotel precioso.
We travelled by public transport from the airport with a major glitch as we were told to use a bus from Pontedera which was the wrong one. The buses don't seem to have numbers. However, when we arrived at the hotel eventually, the staff were very welcoming. We were given a voucher for a free bar drink which was a cocktail-nice touch. The villa (Rosa 322) was lovely. Cosy, clean and roomy. Our sitting area was downstairs with a balcony bedroom. Room cleaned every day. Well stocked mini bar with fruit juice, beer, wine and nibbles. As it was my husbands' birthday while we were there, one of the girls had made him a beautiful fruit flan with a Happy Birthday message on. Bathroom well stocked with smellies and a handy table in there. Shower a little bit narrow and the shower curtain is towelling! I also thought a restaurant was advertised but think this is just the breakfast area. A few places just outside the gates (see separate reviews) and over the road. Bus stop outside the complex which was useful for our trips to Pisa and Florence. Bus to Pontedera then train. About an hour for both destinations. We didn't think we would be bothered by mosquitoes travelling so late in the year but have come back with bites so take a repellent. Special mention to receptionists who we had to bother on a few occasions but who were very helpful.
Great location for visiting Pia, Lucca and the beach.
