Good but entertainment let it down
Pros:

Back to one of our favourite Iberostar hotels, which always feels like home on arrival. Greeted with a welcome glass of cava and a smile, which is perfect! A few minor negative issues, but on the whole love the Cristina and look forward to returning if, they can sort the entertainment issues.
We knew it would be different holiday with no familiar animation team faces, after the departure of Shane. But I did feel that the team weren’t really 100% committed to Cristina. Lucas the head of animation, was entertaining and good with the guests. But something was lacking with the rest of the team, not that bothered about involving guests in activities was just one of the issues. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t rude, just not to the standard, we have got used and expect of Iberostar. I do hope Iberostar can sort this issue out next session and don’t take on animations staff, who are using the Cristina as a stop gap, you need staff who really want to be there. The shows weren’t up to their usual standard, they were very poor and during one African acrobat show, there was a child standing in the swing area, the acrobat was on! Very dangerous and no was keeping an eye on this.
The wine tasting, well this is red wine, and this is white wine, was all the information we got! But hey we got free wine not included in our All Inclusive Limited! The tye dye t-shirt activity done in mass, was a great idea and we all came home with one! Also darts mid-morning was great and well attended but didn’t always follow the schedule which was displayed. Bring back sholbeck!
The pool was its usual welcoming self! However, I was surprised to see the pool towels being handed out by the lifeguards, which considering the incident last year, I would have thought their attention should be 100% on the pool and safety. I hope the refit, involves new sun loungers! Always enough to go around and plenty of parasols. I do like the new kids playground, which would have been invaluable in our early visits.
The positives far out way the negatives, the restaurant is amazing, the waiting staff to name just a few Daniel and Lorenzo. I must mention Bamba at the bar and his specially named shot. These staff go way beyond the call of duty!
The new Star Café was a great addition, and a very good idea, it served warm and cold drinks and pastries, sandwiches during the day and into the night. Very handy to grab a latte on the way to bed or a pastry.
The rooms we had a family room, same as usual, I do believe there is a refit for Summer 2026, so this will be interesting to see. The rooms are adequate and within no time become your temporary home. The cleaners weren’t as attentive this year, but I guess this is the pressures, of less staff and more work.

Great hotel with great service
Pros:

We had a lovely time at the hotel and were impressed with the service. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The buffet offered a great range of options everyday and always had a ‘theme’ for dinner which kept things more interesting rather than just the same food everyday. The room was lovely and bright and beds were comfortable enough. Our only complaint is that there was no real seal between the door into the room and the ground which meant noises coming from the corridor were particularly loud, especially in the morning. Kids screaming and people talking were heard very clearly and sometimes was a disturbance. This was on the 4th floor so unsure wether this is an issue on other floors too… perhaps the noise was slightly worse for us as our room was near the lift so there would obviously be more foot traffic. Asides from that we had a great stay and would definitely come back… hopefully when it’s a bit warmer out during the summer months!

Fantastic winter holiday!
Pros:

This hotel was by far the best and cleanest hotel we have stayed, the 4* are more than reflective of the reality.

We stayed in a family room and found it to be immaculately clean when we arrived and continued to be held to that standard after each housekeeping visit. Only slight drawback was the height of the sink as our daughter couldn’t reach the soap. (Such a minor point in reality!)

The food was incredible, every day there was a variety of different foods as well as the staple for the less adventurous. The dedicated kids section was a very good idea and came in handy when our 5 year old just wanted easy food.
There was always a section dedicated to a different theme each evening. (Spanish, Asian etc)
The staff are so very hardworking and always aim to please.

Although no real kids splash pool there is a very child friendly section in the main pool close to the sun beds for doting parents.

The evening entertainment was fantastic, Lukas, Omar and the team put in so much effort for the kids, the daily mini disco felt fresh and not the same scripted display every evening. The main event shows are also to a high standard and aim to entertain all ages.

The location is perfect for the beach (we spent most days there!!) and also the buses into Palma. €2 per person is a bargain as well.

As per the rules by the Spanish government the alcohol is not all inclusive and is restricted to 3 drinks at Lunch and 3 with the evening meal. You can purchase more than this of course and I found it to be reasonably priced. (€5 per large beer)

Another special mention for Lucas and Omar, they made our daughter feel like she was special and always made an effort to speak and make time for her.

Great job guys!!!

Great hotel but my least favourite Majorca resort
Pros:

If you've stayed at an Iberostar before you know what you're getting. We LOVE the Iberostar chain and are always happy with their rooms, restaurants and their communal areas. We've also benefited from the children's clubs which, theoretically, include teen club offering activities for 13-17 year olds. Whilst this sounds great I always find they should do more for this group. The Cristina hotel didn't offer one activity for the "Eagle Camp" during our 10 day stay during the summer holidays. My son joined in one adult game of water volley ball during our stay but the young kids were allowed to join in that too. I love all ages getting involved but if you're a 6'5" 17 year old it's obviously good to have a competitive game too! I think that Iberostar need to offer at least one water activity a day for the Eagle Camp/ Adults during the school holidays.

POOL
The pool area here is really nice and we always got sun loungers at any point in the day.

RESTAURANT
We stayed B&B as we prefer going out for meals and the breakfast selection was nice and the restaurant is also a pleasant area. I did sometimes have to ask for English breakfast tea and wait a while whilst someone found some - first world problems I know but one that could easily be rectified if someone is responsible for keeping this area stocked (note for the hotel rather than future guests!!).

ROOMS
Lovely and clean with everything you would need. Nice view of the sea, though not sure it was worth the extra we paid.

STAFF
All the staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. I always find Iberostar employees to be really efficient and approachable.

RESORT
We've stayed at several resorts across Majorca and this is my least favourite. It felt like Magaluf for Germans. The hotel is far enough away that this doesn't need to be an issue, particularly if you are All Inclusive, but we enjoy walking out at night and it often involved walking past large groups of drunk people. I went to Magaluf twice when I was young but it's not somewhere I'd choose to go as a family, nor the German version!

There are loads of nice restaurants all within walking distance though. El Patio is right next door to the hotel and we ate here a few times, nice food and good service. Al Faro beach is situated opposite the beach and we enjoyed lunch here most days. Really great food and fabulous service. Both these restaurants are nowhere near the hustle and bustle of the busier area.

BEACH
The beach looks beautiful and it's huge so loads of space. However, there was always an unpleasant smell of sewage which was off-putting!

We will definitely stay at Iberostar again but we won't go back to Playa De Palma.

Expensive and not 4 star worthy, don’t recommend
Pros:

We were very disappointed with this hotel.
- Most of the staff speak to you in German or French and when we spoke English, we sometimes got blank stares back as they didn’t understand us.
- They run out of certain dishes (for example sides like fries and rice) very quickly, because everyone goes for the same food, and they don’t restock, especially when it’s busy.
- Tables aren’t cleared in time so if it’s busy and packed you won’t find a clean table to sit down at.
- Cutlery and silverware was always dirty and you had to find ones that were clean.
- The fridge in the room was old and useless.
- We bought an apple juice for €3 one night and the glass was only filled 2/3 of the way, not to mention it was warm.

The first night at dinner I was sat at the table by myself whilst my family was getting their food, I didn’t know how the drinks worked and an older waiter came over and was quite disrespectful. He persistently asked me my room number in German then French whilst I was eating and I replied in English once I swallowed my bite but he was very being very insistent. It was quite humiliating as people sat on the tables next to me were laughing at the whole interaction.
We also booked 2 rooms online based on which room number we’d like so my family could stay next to each other. They sent us an email to let us know that they changed our room numbers and we then replied and only got a response back 2 days later.
Considering this is a 4* hotel, we were extremely underwhelmed. We stayed in a 3* hotel last year that was much better than this.

Looks 4-star but feels budget
Pros:

We just returned from a three-week stay and I want to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good:

The entertainment team was great, especially the girls.

Our baby absolutely loved the mini disco and Starky and Stella.

Some staff truly stood out for their kindness, like Vero, Emma, and Cassia, who always took time to greet and interact with our baby.

We also enjoyed the 20:30 live music in the bar.

The Bad:

We paid a €30 deposit for an iron, which we were fine with, but the one provided was dirty and unusable.

Food was repetitive, almost the same every day, and it was very difficult to find anything suitable for a baby. Even simple, plain options like cooked broccoli and cauliflower or chicken/turkey were hard to come by.

Vegetarians will struggle too: only sides, endless pasta, and no real variety. On top of that, food labeling was unclear and often incorrect, which makes it especially difficult for vegetarians or anyone with allergies.

No soundproofing at all from the hallways. Sometimes housekeepers shouted in the hallway, even with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and other guests were even less considerate.

The elevators were a constant frustration. Always occupied, often too long to wait with a stroller, and used by staff as well. One time it even stopped three times in a row, full of housekeepers with carts.

We booked all-inclusive thinking it would make things easier with a baby, but it wasn’t worth it given the food situation.

There were no activities specifically for 0–3-year-olds. The Kangaroo Club only held one activity during our entire stay, even though we were told it would be daily, with the explanation that “there wasn’t enough interest.”
The Ugly:

Our bed on the first night was unimaginably squeaky, to the point where we couldn’t move without risking waking the baby. It was adjusted the next day and it improved a bit, but it still squeaked enough that we had to be careful how to sit up and lie down. On top of that, it was pretty uncomfortable.

The bathroom sink backed up with black grime and wouldn’t drain.

Curtains were badly moldy. Shockingly, our baby slept next to them for nearly two weeks before we noticed. They were replaced the same day after we complained, but mold should never have been an issue in the first place. (also the whole place smelled moldy)

The pans in the restaurant were in awful condition, with the Teflon coating completely peeled off. It’s a health hazard, those should be replaced the moment they’re scratched. I was even told the black flakes in my food were “pepper” but they certainly didn’t taste like it, and pans were not addressed.

When we raised concerns about baby food, a manager invited us to create a simple menu, which we appreciated. But after I did, we were told it was “too detailed” and redirected to whatever was already on the buffet, like porridge, vegetables, or pasta with pesto. In practice, this meant nothing extra was offered, and since those items weren’t consistently available, the problem remained unresolved.

Overall, the whole experience felt like a budget stay dressed up as a 4-star hotel. For the price we paid, we expected much better. Between the squeaky and uncomfortable bed, the sink clogged with grime, moldy curtains by our baby’s bed,, we honestly had the same experience in our first apartment rental, down to the mold problem, for far less money.

Percent amazing wonderful Hotel and staff
Pros:

Waves Cristina is perfect on every single way.
We checked in and accepted a lovely welcome drink on behalf of the hotel which was a lovely touch.

The room, 378, is so comfortable and nice and bright and airy:

The bed is so comfortable and the room is immaculately clean and very well maintained.

The air con is at a perfect temperature and a nice balcony and 2 chairs with a garden view.

Every single one of the staff members are so amazingly friendly and this is so nice for us both,

There are so many areas to sit around and the building flows through perfectly,

The breakfast is plentiful and really great.

Every single room is decorated so amazingly with so much attention to detail,

We are still staying at the hotel, until 12th September and feel very lucky and honoured to staying in this absolutely perfect and totally faultless hotel.

It is perfectly located and only a 5 minute walk to a lovely beach and plenty to do so in an ideal location.

There are rooms providing entertainment and something for everybody,

There was a man singing and he was brilliant and so polite and friendly, an absolute pleasure to listen to, claps galore.

We really have
Never stayed in such a beautiful hotel ever before and will certainly recommend it to everyone we know:

We had the best nights sleep ever,

Waves Cristina deserves to be a 5* Rating as it’s so prefect and so welcoming and friendly,

We can absolutely not thank or praise this
Hotel enough,

Thank you to every single member of staff for a perfect stay and we are so looking forward yo spending a further 10 nights with you,

The Best hotel ever, thank you very much

Great nights sleep

A great hotel, lovely and clean and fab staff.
Pros:

Just returned from a lovely 4 night stay here. We had a family room for myself, 13 year old daughter and my mum. Room was really clean with a double balcony overlooking the pool. The room had a fridge but we had to ask for a kettle and some mugs so we could make a cup of tea in the morning (absolutely no problem though).

The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff were always happy to help and looked happy to be there. The entertainment staff were absolutely brilliant, looked like they were always having fun and never too busy to stop and have a chat/say hello. We did a couple of the cocktail workshops and bingo in the afternoon and really enjoyed them as the entertainment staff were so entertaining! My daughter enjoyed the pool party, foam party, Acro aerobics and all the free inflatables/pool noodles from the recycling point at the back of the pool.

We stayed half board and always found there to be a great selection of food, lots of freshly cooked to order options too. We appreciated the free glass of prosecco and chocolates on arrival, very welcome! Lots of lovely little touches that made the hotel special - free paella and sangria one lunchtime, nachos and Corona another time, staff handing out watermelon wedges around the pool.

Hotel is about 3-4 minutes away from the beach so very accessible. There is a land train that can take you along the beach, lots of bars and shops to mooch around/get food shopping.

We would definitely stay again!

Great hotel for families
Pros:

Had a wonderful 5 night stay at this hotel. Excellent customer service from all the staff. The front desk staff were always happy to help. Welcome drinks and chocolate were a nice touch upon arrival.

There were plenty of food choices to cater for all and quality was very good. Dinner theme was different each night.

The room was clean and bright. Air conditioning worked well. Only gripe was the sofa bed was on the soft side to sleep on and the walls are thin, could hear noise from neighbouring rooms.

WiFi connection was straightforward and signal is strong enough around the hotel. The app is very useful, contained all the information about the hotel and provides instant breakdown of what you have spent and the invoice. You also get a message on your phone informing you the room is cleaned.

Great location, 2 mins from the beach, 15 mins from the airport by taxi, and buses run every 10 mins into Palma Old Town which takes around 25mins.

Fun activities and great entertainment were put on by the wonderful animation team.

Tennis and Padel courts next to hotel were easy to book.

Overall a great experience and would happily stay here again.

Pros:

Brilliant stay! Everything's just so good here. If I were to be perfectionist, I would only hope that the aricon can be a tiny bit more controllable - it could be either slightly too cold / too warm. Other than that I really enjoy my stay with my mate so much!

Lovely hotel with great staff, just a few improvements needed
Pros:

We have just come back from a week at the Iberostar Waves Cristina. Having stayed at several Iberostar hotels this one was my favourite.

Positives: I liked the layout of the hotel and the way it flowed, it was easy to navigate and find things simply. The decor was fresh and white and clean and modern which I love, and we had a ground floor family room which was a great location and very central for the pool and dinner.

The staff were super helpful everywhere you went, from the reception to the cleaners, and the bar staff. All happy to be there too which is not often the case at all hotels so it was great to see everyone friendly and smiling and happy.

On reception, everyone was really helpful especially Suanny who really went above and beyond to help facilitate requests. A big thanks to her.

The entertainment team were REALLY fantastic, full of energy and great at getting people up and involved. They worked so hard doing all different kinds of roles from morning until late at night! There was a constant range of activities and programmes throughout the day to keep kids and adults entertained - we all really enjoyed this. There was often an afternoon adult activity like Sangria making or Mojito making which Omar was very good at doing and we all enjoyed.

The playground facilities were excellent, having had a newly fitted trampoline and swing area located perfectly near the dining area but also near the evening entertainment area meant that children could play safely without being out of sight which was a HUGE highlight for me. I could relax knowing they were busy and happy and safe. They also had a separate bigger play area at the bottom of the pool which my child and the friends he made used every afternoon to have a break from swimming.

The proximity to the beach was great, it looked further away on a map but it was just a 3/4 minute walk. Supermarket at the end of the hotel too which was handy.

There were however some parts that definitely need improving.

Negatives: The sofa beds. We made friends with several families and every single one of them complained about the ‘sofa beds’ in the family rooms. They are completely inadequate for sleeping on and have zero support. Had we known this we wouldn’t have booked a family room as the sofa bed was for my dad who is 70 years old. He woke up so sore and in pain from the sofa bed and we were told nothing could be done as every room was the same. They literally had cushions underneath the frame pushing it up to support it from collapsing and a metal bar across the middle which went straight into your hips. We ended up converting it back to a regular sofa and he just slept on the ‘L’ part of the sofa for the whole week which was really a huge downside to the holiday. If the bed was being used by a small child I imagine it wouldn’t be as bad but an adult can absolutely not use that as a bed which we were not aware of.

Evening entertainment variety: the downside of having stayed at several Iberostar hotels meant we had seen the majority of the evening shows. Some of which were fine to watch again but a couple were not great and very cheesy like the magic show. Would’ve been great to see a better variety of shows that lasted longer!

Evening entertainment length and disconnect: The night time entertainment lasts for 90 minutes and then it’s all finished. The quizzes start at 8.30pm for 30 minutes and then there is a 1 hour show 9pm - 10pm. At 10 everything is pretty much finished and you have no choice but to go to bed. Again this was a huge talking point amongst guests we met there as some nights you want to be able to stay up later and have some live music on, or a bar environment. At other Iberostar hotels once the main show finished you can move into the main bar until 1am where you can play cards, games, have drinks, hear live bands or DJ sets…. But no vibe after 10pm here. They also really need to sort out the disconnect between the children’s entertainment which starts stupidly early at about 5.30pm when the majority of guests are still in the pool. This finishes around 6.30pm and then there’s nothing on until 8.30pm.
Seems silly, the kids entertainment should just start later so that adults don’t have to cut their evening short, and then continue straight into adults entertainment so you can make an evening of it.

Dinner drinks: we were half board and obviously knew we had to pay for drinks, but at evening dinner if my 6 year old wanted water there was no option to have a glass of tap water even though there are water machines everywhere! They are not in use during dinner time and we were told each night that we had to buy him a large glass bottle of water in order for him to drink, which is crazy. This needs to be rectified as it is a stupid policy. Water at dinner should be free.

Dinner: the dinner options were mainly good but quite hard to find options for children to eat, the childrens food station really didn’t have very much for them to choose from except chips and some hotdogs. My child hardly ate anything at breakfast or dinner and I ended up having to buy lots of things throughout the day that he would eat.

All in all it was a fab hotel and we really enjoyed it, they just need to improve a few things to make it excellent!

Not great at all
Pros:

We stayed in room 100 pool view trust me it has to be the worst i’ve ever stayed in. Every morning at 7am the whole room vibrates and has a very loud humming noise much like from an extractor being outside the door and window you cannot sleep past that time it is horrendous. Reception not helpful at all. The pool beds are very uncomfortable and there are not enough of them. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room which is very disappointing and no iron and ironing board to touch up anything that may have got creased on your travels. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep all night as walls and doors are so thin you would think they are made of paper. Really disappointed we came for our 24th wedding anniversary so booked a double pool view room and was given a twin room, they did eventually make it a double but I had to ask three times for this to get done. Overall a clean hotel, good location as only a short walk to the beach and restaurants some very nice staff. The money we paid to stay here could have been better spent elsewhere.

Friendly clean hotel
Pros:

Spent 5 days here at the start of July. It's a lovely hotel in a great location - only 10 mins from the airport, a short walk from the beach and loads of shops/restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is lovely and modern and very very clean - everywhere was spotless! The food at the buffet is decent quality and pretty healthy but we are a vegan/vegetarian and there was very few options for us, particularly at dinner. The labelling of allergens was very hit and miss and some of the food at breakfast was cold or even still frozen in the middle. The hotel is much bigger than it looks online and I'm not sure the buffet and pool are big enough to accommodate the number of guests as both were very busy. One huge plus of the hotel is the staff, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and if you're travelling with kids they are so lovely and make such a fuss of them. There are 2 outdoor play areas and also 2 indoor ones for babies/toddlers with play mats, toys etc which is brilliant for getting little ones out the heat. Overall it's a nice hotel, the food did let it down for us but still an enjoyable stay and the positives really did outweigh the negatives.
