The room we had was very small. It was just okay.
An efficiency hotel room with all the necessities except a toaster would have been nice ... includes fridge, microwave, kettle, dishes/utensils for 2, Keurig coffee machine. Decent size TV with good channel choices. Soap is teenie, tiny (bring your own). Bed is very comfortable but the room is very tight everywhere, especially in summer with a room air conditioner on the floor connected to the window for exhaust. Staff were fine and did their job adequately. The building itself is rather ugly but once in your room, it doesn't matter.
I booked a room for 1 night but I found out my other hotel let us stay one more night so capital suites was nonrefundable.
This is a garbage place. I don't say that normally but this is why.... They start cleaning your room and removing your stuff before check out time.
I checked into this place between AirBnBs for just two nights. My room wasn't properly cleaned there were hairs in the bathtub and the furniture. But since there isn't anything available around here I stayed. It's only two nights right?
My day of check out I was working at the airport and I brought my luggage with me so I can come back and check out at 11am quickly. I left my food in the fridge so it wouldn't spoil. When I got there they had cleaned the room and taken out all my food from the fridge... Why? Because people check out without telling them. My bill was paid in full prior to this.
In conclusion just get an AirBnB and you won't get rude staff and you know where you stand.
Best of luck if you chose to stay
Overall I had a pleasant stay here at Capital Suites Yellowknife. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The only issue I found was they do indeed need to soundproof the walls as you can hear a lot of noise from other nextdoor rooms/put in the hallway. However when I stayed I never had an issue when sleeping at night.
Yes, there are some interesting characters that hang around but I found them all over Yellowknife, not just at this hotel. I never felt unsafe. Staff were pleasant, facilities were okay. There are no dining options nearby but I was happy to take a short walk into town.
If you expect a 4 star hotel this is not it, but if you are happy with a budget hotel you should give it a go. I would stay again. Thank you.
Overall excellent work
I told every staff person on their shift that the bathroom sink did not have a strainer or stopper, that i can see straight down the pipe. No one did anything about it. Therefore I had to keep the soap tray in the bowl so nothing would fall in. The tile on the shower wall was cracked. The soap was so small that I could not take a shower.
hey when there is nothing available this place really shines! lol
it is decent enough and clean enough so no worries there,
you can walk downtown from here without any worries, parking could be an issue if the hotel is busy.
it would be about my fourth choice in hotels arriving in yellowknife.
Not worth comment
Worst customer service. They don't pick up phoned when at the airport. There is no ambience of a lobby which is always locked like a cheap hourly motel. If you have to stay here, don't stay on the parking lot side. 6AM beeping of trucks backing up or garbage trucks collecting trash making noise. When you park you deal with hotel and local workers smoking under the cover of the parking. Butts and garbage near the lobby and parking area. We were stuck here because the other hotels were booked. No food here. Rooms were ok. You need to leave windows open for fresh air, but you deal with noise on lobby side parking lot. Please pass on this place
The hotel was great
The staff when I checked in was somewhat helpful but rude to others and the staff in the morning was rude to me. I found it very inconvenient to have to take a slow elevator to the only door they allow you to smoke at and threaten you with a $500 fee if you smoke in your room (2.5x what I paid for the room). There wasn't much for food besides some overpriced junk food in the lobby. The AC had a torn hose that I asked front desk to help me with and only gave me a roll of tape to fix it myself. Was told the night before I would be allowed a slightly late check-out (12pm instead of 11am) and then the morning staff said that they would bill me half a day fee if I stayed past 11 so was rushing to get out at 11.
This was my first time here and Im not impressed. Highly struggle a change of attitude from the fornt desk staff and a clean room before hand.
I will no longer being staying at this hotel.
Poor parking accommodation. Smelled in hallway on 4the floor. Remote control for tv was missing - replaced by front desk - found the original remote on the floor by the night stand. Stand alone a/c very noisy. Mostly substandard accommodation for $200 per night room.
It was altight
There was no AC in the room and they provided a portable AC which kept turning off all night making it hot to sleep in. The service guy came and fixed it once at around 2:00 AM but it soon after went off again. Turn off and turn on, works and then goes off again. Also, the elevator was busy all the time with people coming down to smoke. The entrance area was always filled with people smoking making it very unpleasant. I guess you get what you pay for. The staff is great and very helpful but facility needs some updates.
Simple and basic but it was nice enough and clean.
Didn't like that the entrance door is locked all the time and to get a second key card my husband needed to show ID. Also only one face towel and one hand towel were provided for a 2 person room. Air conditioner was a separate unit right beside the bed, very loud and blowing air directly on the guests.
The room was clean.
Excellent customer service
When i first checked in the damage deposit they wanted was ridiculous and they gave me a room that was already used.
