A truly special stay - heartily recommended for all Hanseatic fans
Pros:

I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and one of my key criteria for how much I enjoy my stay is character. Merchant's House Hotel has some of the best character I've ever experienced. My friend and I were surprised to see how large the Board Room Suite was, but even more than size, it was the decor which charmed us. Bits and pieces of old wooden furniture and a set of enormous couches dominated the space, with the ceiling being a massive wooden panel from an old house being the icing on top. It felt like a miniature gallery entirely free of charge. Beyond the decor, the location is excellent - right near the town hall in Old Town. It felt like we could get anywhere very easily. The bed was exceptionally comfy, and the bathroom (while somewhat bizarre and with poor drainage) gave us the chance for a bath, which is unusual at this price point. The staff provided us with recommendations for what to do and see, and were on the whole pleasant and professional. Special shoutouts to the sauna, which I can heartily recommend to anyone who visits the north. I loved my stay here and will be trying to bring more of my friends back in the future.

Cons:

The breakfast was fine but nothing special. The fact that the rooms were old-fashioned key locks made splitting up a bit of a challenge. Tallinn old town occasionally smells a little of sewerage, but I believe this is an issue for the place in general since it presumably has old plumbing.

Sehr schöne Betten. Alles war super sauber und das Personal sehr hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist einfach perfekt. Zentral aber dennoch so ruhig das man Nachts gut schlafen konnte! Wir würden immer wieder dieses Hotel wählen.

Historical hotel and city
Pros:

Excellent location in the Old City. We were able to walk from the hotel, did not require public transportation.
Staff helpful and welcoming. We really appreciated they started breakfast for us a little earlier. They gave a great layout of the city- and they were right on.
BTW: if you enjoy history, this is the perfect hotel and definitely the city!
We would stay again.

There were also several highlights that made our stay enjoyable. The location is fantastic, situated right in the heart of the old town, making it easy to walk to many great restaurants and bars nearby. We also really appreciated the staff, who were consistently friendly and welcoming. They took the time to show us each room, which made us feel well taken care of and added a personal touch to the experience.

Cons:

Overall, our stay had some positives, but there were a few areas that could really use improvement. We decided to book a massage during our visit, which unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations and felt quite disappointing compared to other spa experiences we’ve had. The spa facilities themselves could also benefit from more attention to cleanliness, as the shower area did not feel as well-maintained as we had hoped.

In addition, when we first arrived in our room, the floors didn’t feel as clean as expected and had a slightly sandy texture. While these issues didn’t completely overshadow our stay, addressing them would definitely make a big difference in the overall guest experience.

Pros:

Henkilökunta on todella ystävällistä. Huoneessa ilmeni ongelma aamulla suihkun jälkeen. Lattiakaivo ei vetänyt. Kun lähdimme kaupungille ilmoitin asiasta respaan. Takaisin tultuamme asia oli jo hoidettu ja siivoojat olivat viimeistelemässä pesuhuoneen siivousta. Seuraavana aamuna respan virkailija pahoitteli asiaa ja tarjosi meille kuohuviinit.

Pros:

Loistava aamupala, valmistettiin tilauksesta. Mahtava henkilökunta ja palvelu. Todella siisti huone, sisäpihan puolella. Sijainti täydellinen Vanhassakaupungissa.

Cons:

Hotellin sisäpiha oli menossa remonttiin, joten vähän sotkuista. Mutta remontin jälkeen varmasti aivan ihana paikka terasseineen.
