The rooms are lovely. The staff was amazing.
The location is too crowded and the breakfast was average
It is a beautiful, unique historical building right by Zócalo !
Tastefully renovated.

Centrally located to the city center with plenty of great food close by. The hotel is super clean and a true gem! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The restaurant upstairs should truly be reviewed by the Michelin guide. Service at the restaurant was just as amazing as the service downstairs for breakfast, which was included. Can’t speak enough about this stay!

I wish everything was included for breakfast

Casa de la Luz lived up to all the expectations I had and beyond. I chose this hotel for its excellent location (close to the center of town and easy access to the metro), it's historic charm and the regular high ratings from other travelers. Each of these made it the perfect hotel for me. First, location meant I didn't need to use taxis or public transport much to get to the locations I really wanted to visit--they were all just a short walk away. The building originally formed a part of a hospital built in the 16th century, so it was really amazing to stay there. The rooms themselves were huge with massively high ceilings. The bathrooms were spacious and modern. All in all, quite comfortable. The other reviews I read about the hotel were spot on. The staff were so helpful and really pleasant and helpful at all times. The breakfast was regularly delicious and filling. In short, I loved it.
I guess there are some bad points to every hotel, and sure there are a few here. None that would make me question my decision to stay. First it is on a well travelled road in historic Mexico City and right across from a popular public square. As such, it could be loud in the evenings although it was quiet during the wee hours of the night. The neighboring establishments could also contribute some noises. All that considered, it was not a problem at all, really.
Nestled in the heart of the Historic Zone, the property is easy walking to many sites around the Zocalo, yet thanks to sound proof windows, the room remained quiet. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the breakfast cafe on site was amazing.
The historic building is amazing and the hotel actually is boutique. It has a few rooms spread over three floors. We opted for one of the largest rooms. Bed linens were perfect as were the pillows. Wonderful restaurant on the top floor. The hotel environment makes for a relaxing respite from on otherwise at times chaotic city. Location can’t be beat.
The square directly across was a little disturbing upon arrival. Apparently it is one of a few legal locations around the city where marijuana use is allowed outside in public. We stayed four nights. It was a non-issue. The square was almost completely empty by the evening.
