Theft inside hotel room – Management treated as a minor issue
Review:
During my stay on August 21–22, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Villahermosa Aeropuerto, I suffered a serious theft inside my hotel room (an 18k gold bracelet valued at $150,000 MXN). Evidence suggests the involvement of staff or individuals with access to master keys.
Even more concerning, hotel management treated this crime as if it were a minor issue, failing to provide immediate transparency, evidence, or cooperation with authorities. As a foreign guest and investor, this experience was alarming and unacceptable.
This is not a simple service complaint—it is a matter of safety and security. Until proper accountability and cooperation are demonstrated, I strongly caution other travelers about staying at this property.
The hotel room was nice but the overall hotel was extremely sketchy. It was like walking into a horror movie. When you pull into the property, it looks deserted, but then you walk into the lobby and it was a nice normal holiday inn. When we went to our room, I asked my husband what are those black boxes outside every door and he told me they were rat traps. Literally hundreds of them in the hotel. Then we went to walk out to the pool area and it looked like it had been deserted or shut down for years. Thank God, we were only there for one night. We slept with the lights on and never left the room until we left in the morning. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel

We do like this hotel, we make the drive twice a year and have made this one of trip stops for sure! The staff is friendly and mostly helpful, I know it’s not their fault but we travel with two service dogs. On the website it clearly states service animals are exempt from pet fees, however each time we get charged the pet fee. I understand I really do, but either make changes to the website or make sure your staff is aware of the service animals.

It's great that pets are accepted, however, these rooms are two flights of stairs down from the lobby with no elevator. Desk staff were reluctant to offer any solutions until I pressed them. Disappointing stay, overall.

Shower floor dangerously slippery. Elevator doors close after very short time. They close fast and hard so I have bruises on both arms from the fast closing doors.

They have a fantastic customer service manager Mr. Luis (first name). He is truly professional, friendly and especially helpful. We arrived at Villahermosa from Palenque a bit stressed because my husband had accidentally left his wallet in Palenque.
Mr Luis (first name) arranged safe, reliable, and economical round trip transportation to Palenque to retreat his wallet. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning and a good bed.
Great place to stay if you’re going to fly out from Villahermosa airport. Bonus: they have free airport transport to and from the airport. Since airport based taxi service is usually very expensive, having airport shuttle service included is a welcome customer perk; Thanks!
