Holiday Inn Express & Suites Destin - Miramar Beach by IHG

Unfortunately there was an issue with the machine that makes the room keys. It was annoying to have to wait to be let into my room each time for over 24 hours.

After returning to the hotel the first night my room was unlocked. The bolt to the door was opened which didn't allow for the door to close. When I went to the desk the clerk was very nonchalant about my room being open and accessible to anyone. All he said was "I'm sure it was a mistake. "

That response is unacceptable. I had spent good hard earned money to pay for that room. The dayshift clerks did apologize but weren't much better in understanding my concerns and annoyance that anyone could've stolen my belongings and also that anyone could've been hiding in my room when myself and roommate returned. We're two single women traveling alone.

The next night the same thing happened to ky friend two doors down.

I've never experienced this issue anywhere else and I travel often.

Didn’t have a broom in the room to sweep the sand.

Not very clean, very short staffed no room service/housekeeping ever. It took them Three days after I checked in for them to clean my room properly

Old, dirty, stated renovation but nothing about the hotel was renovated. Asked for another room in the beginning, staff said no other room was not ready/clean. Carpet in elevator smelled, room, especially near the AC smelled bad as if a rodent/lizard had died. It wasn’t wiped anywhere in the room so we didn’t even do breakfast next morning.
Around the property isn’t family safe either as an incident happened. Staff seemed like they knew that this has been happening when notified at checkout.
I don’t recommend this place.

We had to wait two hours after check in for our room to be cleaned. The breakfast was a little stale with some things and the pancake maker was broken.

There was no clean towels the whole weekend we had to go to Walmart and buy our own towels they wouldn’t clean our room the whole weekend we ended up having to get supplies to clean the room ourselves

I didn't like the fact that there was food in the sink from previous customer. The Toilet had not been cleaned thoroughly. There was a spot on the floor where someone spilled something and tried getting it up and there were also remnants of paper left in the pull out bed from previous customer. We had to ask for bed linens for the pullout because there weren't any in the room. Other than these few hiccups, everything else was okay. Oh, the freezer was overloaded with frozen ice, so not too much could fit in the top. The parking wasn't that great! A couple of the customers parked taking up two spaces or parked so terrible that you couldn't park beside them fearing your vehicle would be hit. Last but certainly not least, I didn't like the fact that the customers came to breakfast in their bed clothes and barefoot. They were coughing and not washing their hands. Small children were allowed to fix their own food. They were just getting things and not eating them and opening the tops of food to see what is was because they couldn't read the signs. One of the guys were not courteous he would reached over me to get something from the front desk and putting back and did not even say "excuse me."

Some of the staff was rude. Didnt give clear answers. They gave me one pillow and a small blanket no sheets for the pull out and said to lay on it bare. Overall, my experience could of been better.

Not a heated pool or privacy fence but it was well maintained .

1. The body wash bottle in the shower was empty.
2. The bathroom door did not shut. Room 413
3. The internet was very slow. Even too slow for the unpaid internet.
4. The television channels were all weird channels and the normal channels were not available. Such as ESPN, cnn, cbs, NBC, etc. there were only weird internet streaming channels.

When we checked in and went up to our room. The room was not clean. The floor had bet been swept or mopped. The bedding was dirty. I went back down to the front desk and the clerk told me that they had several housekeeping staff walk out that morning and the “manager” was still working on rooms but they would not be able to come back and clean our room tonight. He offered a discount and to give me fresh sheets to put on the bed. I explained to the front desk clerk that this mindset of thinking it was acceptable and ok to check guests into dirty room and telling them to sleep on dirty bedding and walk on dirty floors is unacceptable and regardless that the room must be cleaned that same day. I can understand the stress of loosing staff as I worked in hospitality for 5 years but we never allowed rooms to be left dirty. The manager said they would not clean the room before leaving for the night. So we asked to cancel our reservation with no penalty. Booking.com was able to verify with the location that they were going to allow us to cancel without penalty. Unfortunately they had already placed a $150 incidental fee that too away from our trip spending money and will not be released back to the card for several days. We had to quickly look and book another hotel. The stress of this whole situation was unbelievable. I just can’t get over the fact that the manager thought it was ok to make guest sleep on dirty bedding and walk on filthy floors. This hotel does not deserve to maintain their IHG flag.
