The Golfview is really special. Particularly the setting and the rooms it feels old fashioned but cosy. The room we had was beautiful but the bed needed a refresh or just a topper it wasn’t particularly comfortable at all. The grounds and the hotel are just so special particularly with the beach so close. You can’t beat it. They left a lovely birthday message in our room which was super kind.
While we had a lovely stay, some of the customer service needed ironing out. The cleaning staff were outstanding, so friendly and chatty. Breakfast in the morning became less enjoyable as the week went on. The staff are frantically rushing, everything seems like a bother to ask and by the end of the week we just didn’t bother going. The highland breakfast varied every day - one day delicious, the next day undercooked and unappealing. Similarly the dinner service is rushed and again it feels like you are inconveniencing the staff. This isn’t across the board but it is a large majority. We didn’t feel you got that personalised approach that you’d expect for the price. The spa staff were excellent.
The room and view were wonderful - and the bath in our room was amazing! The staff went out of their way to be helpful, especially given a few setbacks that were not their fault. We really enjoyed the private afternoon tea and the location was stunning - amazing gardens, beach, and sunsets, yet still a fairly easy walk into the main business district of the city for restaurants and shopping.
The lifts were out of order which was difficult for some of our travelers, particularly those on the top floor with 4 sets of stairs, but the staff was wonderful about handling our luggage at check-in and check-out. The lack of air conditioning is likely not an issue most times of the year but in late July was missed. However, the hotel provides fans and the windows opened to allow breezes off the sea to cool things down.

Just change from a coffee machine for breakfast as tastes horrid. Fresh coffee is best.
The view is beautiful and close proximity to the beach. The spa is nice and enjoyed the outdoor plunge pool and hot tub. The food was lovely at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner
Cold shower and the receptionist wasn’t very helpful when checking us in and one of the waiters chased us to our room and banged on our door because there was no card linked to the room even through even though we were staying in the hotel

We have stayed in this hotel before, every member of staff we interacted with is polite and friendly. The main chap running the restaurant ( and possibly the Hotel too!) was absolutely delightful and always found time to talk to everyone in the restaurant. The spa area is nice and the pool is great. We have stayed in the same room a number of times and even though it has it's quirks it is gorgeous! All in all a great stay, thank you. x

The lift wasn’t working while we were there
Went off for the weekend to a hotel with a spa due to a fairly horrible forecast (which turned out to be inaccurate Metoffice). Fantastic service, great staff with a really nice room, despite it being the only one available. Ate there all days incuding breakfast and dinner. Raspberry creme brulee to die for. Spa immaculately clean and plenty of avaialability.
