What a fantastic stay at The Retreat! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this is a place where every little detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
The facilities are truly faultless — from the beautifully designed rooms to the immaculate communal spaces. The spa was absolutely top-notch, offering a relaxing and luxurious experience that left us feeling completely rejuvenated. A special mention must go to Leanne in the spa, whose exemplary customer service made our visit even more memorable.
The heated outdoor pool was a real treat, such a unique and relaxing touch.
Breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of high-quality options that catered to all tastes. Every bite reflected the same attention to detail seen throughout the rest of the hotel.
The staff, without exception, were warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Their dedication and friendliness truly set The Retreat apart.
Highly recommend, and we’ll absolutely be back for another visit soon.
Great place with fantastic decor and great atmosphere
My balcony room was overlooking the car park and got no sun which was disappointing. Outdoor pool is really lovely and good number of sunloungers to enjoy the sun. Spa was incredible, I don’t use them often but the massage was sensational. Breakfast kept running out of food and dinner seems a touch overpriced. Restaurant staff do their best and are lovely but are essentially untrained sixth formers. Nice place but wouldn’t rush back.

This was our first stay at this wonderful hotel. It won't be the last. the total and grounds are beautiful. The service was exceptional.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Amenities are great. Bed was super comfortable. Would have been 5 stars all round except no wardrobe in the bedroom.

Terrible room. Noisy and small. Apparently we shouldn't have booked the Classic room. Based on our experience I'd advise others to think twice before doing so.

We enjoyed our stay, we loved that there was a pantry with drinks and snacks in, and the staff were so friendly from reception to breakfast the next morning. The pool area was good, and we'd come back again.
The staff are fantastic and so friendly, making the stay really comfortable. However, the outdoor pool was quite dirty, including the loungers and the pool surfaces with bird poo and staining on the tiles. Also our room did not have air conditioning and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep the first night. After this we had fans on which the hotel supplied. We had a lovely stay despite the small issues.

Absolutely perfect stay here. The decor, the staff, the food, the atmosphere was all wonderful, honestly couldn’t fault it here. Staff were helpful and kind, the cleanliness was perfection and the spa was heavenly.

The pros: The spa is a bit small but nice, the decor is fun, great cocktails, good food, our room was quiet, the tennis court was fun
The cons: The beds were hard, the vegan breakfast options limited, difficult to get a booking at the restaurants or spa without booking well in advance and the whole place feels a bit big and not boutiquey
We loved our 2 night stay here, the restaurant was great (unfortunately couldn’t get a booking at Yu Pan Asian) and we loved that the outdoor pool was heated for swimming in winter.
The spa facilities do get extremely busy and noisy on Saturday but Friday evening and Sunday it was really pleasant to use.
Our massage treatments were amazing, very relaxing.
We stayed in a Heritage double room, very comfortable and with lovely personal touches to the room. Could use a few hooks by door for big winter coats and a place to store shoes and better pillows.
Service was overall very good, extremely friendly staff. It did seem that some staff were not as well informed as others as when we enquired about a few things, we got mixed answers but nothing major - like I said everyone was extremely professional and friendly.
We were recommended good local walks, the grounds of the hotel are lovely too.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and we can’t wait to come back.

We had probably the worst bedroom with no views over the garden, but immediately over noisy bin storage.
Shower over bath with no safety handles. Dangerous.
