The location of the hotel was great, lovely grounds and very dog friendly 😀
We booked a garden room which we thought would be on the ground floor, but it was upstairs and no lift in hotel to the floor the room was on.
The hotel is situated in its own grounds which is nice if you want to have a gentle stroll around. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It's a peaceful setting, ideal for a weekend getaway. The hotel is close enough to the motorway for guests to be able to get to places to visit in the area quickly but far enough away to still be peaceful. It was an enjoyable stay.
The bed was not made both bins where still full and general cleanliness was poor
Excellent welcome from staff at all times. Dog friendly.

And clean spacious room
Maybe too hot in bedroom but easy to remedy by turning of radiator and opening window
Would
Preferred a walk in shower
Beautiful building in wonderful surroundings. Nice restaurant with good food. Bar was a nice area to relax.
Slightly understaffed. Would sometimes have a wait to get a drink at the bar, there is a sign saying go to reception to find staff but in a Mercure I feel this is a bit poor. Staff however were all friendly
Lovely peaceful location but close to everything you might need
No pool
Good location, lovely property, relaxed and helpful staff, excellent room in ‘old part’ of property
Continues to look a bit tired in high-volume traffic places, private road to the hotel is as pot-holed as it always has been
Location
Floor is making so much noise you can hear everything. Someone was walking outside your room and when you go to the bathroom or something, your floor was making such a bad noise. You can’t even sleep all night.
Lovely rural location and excellent service
Great location with plenty of grass to walk our dog. Comfortable bed with hot shower and a good breakfast offering in the morning so ticked all the boxes in terms of what we were looking for in an overnight stay whilst visiting friends in Bristol.
The hotel is dated and the corridors and rooms, particularly the bathrooms could do with refurbishing. Our bedroom window in the main house was in a very bad state of repair and the outlook onto the messy flat roof was worth avoiding looking at.
Breakfast was fine
Hotel was old, tired, in need of new carpets and a refurb.
The food was lovely , most staff friendly
It needs serious work doing to the property very run down , not the cleanest in areas . Young staff behind the bar should watch their language ( heard swearing ) also eating while on shift ?
Very comfy bed, good location, pleasant staff
Expensive yet mediocre restaurant.
Staff were lovely, proactive and professional. Thanks to events team for a great job.
This is a beautiful property that has been allowed to become shabby, grubby, uninvested it and is shameful. Whoever the leadership team are who take the money without investing in the infrastructure and potential should be ashamed. It claims to be a 4-star - nowhere close. This is an example of neglect, and lack of investment.
Room was lovely. Big, comfortable and clean.
Food in the restaurant was ok but not great.
