DoubleTree by Hilton Galveston Beach

Tiny balcony, old carpet, crud that they painted over, rust on different parts of room, cable went out for a day possibly longer and front desk could care less in their tone of response, chester drawers were old and1 wouldn't shut. Sketchy back parking lot. People in car just sitting there with drugy looking person receiving something from the occupants in the truck and walking off into the nearby neighborhood. Our friends stayed at another hotel same price but much cleaner and superior in service. Will never stay at a Double Tree again.

Since we were there for two nights, our trash accumulated, so maybe a larger trash bin would have been nice. Other than that, we were well pleased with all of the accommodations!

The only problem I had with our stay was we had no hot water.

The AC unit in our room was extremely NOISY. I couldn't sleep, It was just bad. I couldn't rest. The room was hot and then cold, but it was like having an 18 wheeler in the room, the noise was unbelievable, not a white noise coming from an AC.

And some of the employees at the bar. No greeting, no quick service, no smile, no friendly environment, and the food (shimp tacos) 6pcs of shrimp 2 tortillas, a side of rice??? And and old side of pico de gallo. Ni flavor at all, employee tried to fix it brining avocado after telling me he never saw a taco with avocado...

The trip was fine until breakfast. My boyfriend and I took my kids down stairs for breakfast which the guy server told us the buffet was $22.00 per person. We told him I had paid for the breakfast when I made the reservations they asked for the voucher. We walked up to the front desk to get the voucher she said it was paid for was pulling something out of her drawer then told us she would bring it over. We told the servers she would be bringing it over. One of the girls says we will wait. She we sat there for several minutes waiting the lady at the front desk wasn’t bringing them over. I was thirsty and we weren’t being served so I took the free drink voucher up to them and asked how that worked. They said I had to use it outside at the other bar, which opens at 11 am so it was closed. So I sat back down to wait, for the breakfast that I had already payed for to be verified like we’re just there to steal breakfast. The lady finally comes over then the guy servers says okay we got the vouchers y’all can eat now. The guy comes up and ask us if we want something to drink, at this time we are already upset about the whole thing. I ask him for milk for my daughter. We go fix our plates when we get back all the cups have been removed from the table, no milk. In fact they were standing around because the only other table in the room was one other couple who was being served very well. We were being ignored. The guy wasn’t even around for a while cause I was waiting for anyone of the three employees to come check on us, during the meal. At this point I pull a hot coke out of my purse, and drink a hot coke at breakfast because not one of the three employees could be bothered to even acknowledge that we exist, Until it was time to pay the bill that had already been paid, that we had to sit and wait on the verification of, only to be told the bill was paid but the gratuity wasn’t included! Disappointing Stay – Poor Maintenance and Unpleasant Pool Area

There was a strong musty smell in the room, even though the A/C was set very low. One of the lamp shades was rusty, which is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. The lack of maintenance was evident throughout the property — even the chandelier in the lobby was dusty.

The pool was another major letdown: very small, overcrowded, and with no shower available on the deck. The water was cloudy and looked unhygienic. It was honestly unpleasant and far below expectations.

This place needs serious attention to maintenance and cleanliness. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Had to pay for parking.

Blinds were VERY hard to open. I also did not like how there was not a spacious breakfast area for our family to eat at. I am very used to these, would have been nice to have this.
