Long Puddle of Water with Green Algae Growing Beside the Swimming Pool
Pros:

Beside the swimming pool there is a long puddle of water with green algae. A quick Google search revealed the following: green algae, particularly blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), can produce toxins that are harmful to humans and animals when present in drinking water. Exposure can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and even liver damage. I also saw sand in the swimming pool. It made me wonder if they cleaned the pool at all. Should be reported to the Galveston Health Dept. Stayed there 7-27-2026 to 7-29-2026.

Nightmare at the DoubleTree Galveston
Pros:

This is the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. I will tell anyone who is planning to stay here not to stay. The pictures on the website are misleading. The room we stayed in had a very foul odor, the carpet was worn and dirty, the ceiling had white paint over what appeared to be mold or something black. the bathroom door was old and rusty, housekeeping did not clean room or bathroom, elevated was old, slow, and had a musky smell. This place is a rip off. This is the last time I will stay at a Hilton property

Heartbreaking decline of a former favorite. The staff deserves so much better.
Pros:

This hotel used to be a fantastic, budget-friendly favorite of ours, but returning after a few years, it is glaringly obvious that ownership has completely stopped investing in the property.

The Room:
The moment we opened the door, we were hit with a powerful wall of mildew. The moisture levels in the room were so high that the bedding actually felt damp to the touch. The carpet was worn and old. The main elevators also did not work and we had to use the slow service elevator.

The Restaurant:
Breakfast was incredibly frustrating. I ordered from the menu, and my food arrived well after everyone else in my group had completely finished eating. To make matters worse, my glass was dirty, and my daughter was served spoiled milk.

The Only Saving Grace:
The only reason this is not a one-star review is the staff. Every employee we encountered was exceptional, working tirelessly to "make lemonade" and provide great service with the severely limited resources they have been given.

Ownership should be ashamed of letting this once-great property run completely into the ground. It feels like they are intentionally letting it rot just to knock it down and rebuild, completely disregarding the guest experience in the meantime.

We were there for the beach but it would have been nice to feel a little more pampered for the price
Pros:

The location was directly across from the beach and not too far from restaurants. The beds were very comfortable.

Cons:

When we checked in we were not given pool passes, cookies or a car tag.. We noticed other guests the following day getting these things + information. The area around the pool looked moldy and the elevator smelled bad.

Pros:

The view from the room was wonderful.

Cons:

The room was outdated. The dresser was broken and wear and tear in the bathroom. Also it looked like someone let their dog poop in the balcony and it was shoved in a corner.
