The location and staff made the stay worthwhile
Pros:

Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was amazing

Cons:

I asked for early access to my room when I booked it, they never replied and did not grant it. The room needed some repairs.

Suitable accommodation for a few days' trip to Galveston.
Pros:

The hotel's location is very good, and the view from the room's balcony is fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they helped us with any problems we had.

Avoid!!!
Pros:

The room was moldy. Had a terrible smell. The blankets were beyond dingy. As soon as we walked into the room and noticed we immediately left. It’s hard to believe that this is a doubletree by Hilton.

Nice hotel close to the beach
Pros:

The hotel is conveniently located right across the street from the beach. It is also a short walk to many of the sites in Galveston such as the Pleasure Pier, Bishops Palace and some nice restaurants. The rooms are clean and give a 50s beach feel. The pool area with a pool bar is very nice. All rooms have a balcony and face the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Perfect view of beach.

Cons:

Tiny balcony, old carpet, crud that they painted over, rust on different parts of room, cable went out for a day possibly longer and front desk could care less in their tone of response, chester drawers were old and1 wouldn't shut. Sketchy back parking lot. People in car just sitting there with drugy looking person receiving something from the occupants in the truck and walking off into the nearby neighborhood. Our friends stayed at another hotel same price but much cleaner and superior in service. Will never stay at a Double Tree again.
