Hotel Astoria Rapallo

Room was very clean. Excellent shower head. Comfortable bed. Great ocean view. You are right on the Main Street and if you open the windows you will get a lovely ocean breeze but it can be noisey until the crowds leave but with the window closed it is quiet. I’d stay hear again and would recommend it to my friends

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman and after checking us in led us to the lift for the modern refurbished part of this boutique hotel which I was slightly nervous about as we wanted a bit of charm and character.
But on entering our room, waw it was lovely, and the only thing we felt lacking was a walkout balcony which some of the other rooms had.
The bathroom was spot on with the best hotel shower I think I’ve ever had with plenty of power ( could do with a little shelf to hold toiletries, but that’s just finicky I think)
The bed was massive and very comfortable, tv seemed only to have Italian channels, but we weren’t there for tv! Air con was spot on and very adjustable as we like a cool room!
Only thing missing ( according to the ‘boss’) was a full length mirror!
Breakfast was generally good with plenty of continental options, but did get a bit monotonous after a week’s stay! Would definitely recommend a coffee machine for hotter drinks and to help the lovely waiters!
Hotel has no bar as such and does not offer evening meals which suited us great! A little off putting was to see cleaning equipment every morning by lift door, but on the whole thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Astoria! now

From the moment we entered our fourth floor room, overlooking the Ligurian Sea, we knew we had made the right choice. Clean, comfortable, good size room and bath, centrally located, ten minute walk to railway station, near all seaside restaurants, delightful breakfast and, most of all extremely pleasant front desk staff, especially Elena.
Thanks to the Ferroviaria workers, who staged a nationwide 24 hour strike, we had to stay one extra day in Rapallo and the staff accommodated us.
Perfect for day trips to Cinqueterre and Portofino.
Highly recommend.

How on earth did this hotel get such high ratings is question- we’ve travelled extensively around Europe and the world. Really this hotel needs a good revamp. The staff make it but the staff can’t do much to make up for poor taste of the linoleum, art and old furniture which doesn’t qualify for charming. Poor use of spaces.

-furniture is old and not to standard of 4 star
-floor covering is awful; either it is plastic or linoleum! No rug to at least reduce the ugliness
-safe didn’t function properly
-art work is gaudy and really ugly….i did see this artists work elsewhere in Rapallo but it must the only place in the world that displays this truly awful work
-breakfast area is poorly furnished and crowded but staff work really hard.

We enjoyed a wonderful 7-day holiday at this lovely hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, always ready to help with anything we needed, and made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless, well-maintained, and cleaned daily to a high standard. Breakfast was varied and fresh every morning, and the location was perfect – close to the beach, but still quiet and relaxing. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the warm atmosphere. Definitely a place we would be happy to return to!

Drainage issue every time took a shower water was all over the room

Fantastic staff. Very nice and helpful. We spoke Italian but they are fluent in English as well. Very accommodating and plenty of suggestions if needed. Didn't get to use spa but nice breakfast each morning , good espresso and you can walk to virtually anywhere in town. Close to boat rentals as well. Will be back when we visit Rapallo again

Excellent breakfast, lovely rooms with nice furnishings. Very clean. Close to everything. A great place for me and my two adult children to stay for a few nights.

Our stay at the Astoria Rapallo, was perfect but not long enough. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Will be back one day.

Breakfast is decent with good options
Parking with the hotel made life so much easier and highly recommended
Only one thing to be aware of is that noise insulation is not terribly good so you can hear your neighbours and the street noise but it did not bother us
