The front desk employees were courteous and made genuine efforts to assist me. The employee working when I arrived personally came upstairs and replaced the batteries in my malfunctioning door lock. A different employee later attempted twice to contact the neighboring guests regarding the excessive noise. Although the disturbances were never resolved, I appreciated both employees’ efforts. The location was convenient, and complimentary breakfast was included.

Extremely Disappointing Stay — Repeated Noise Complaints and Poor Room Conditions

I booked a three-night stay at Days Inn by Wyndham Hattiesburg while evacuating Alabama ahead of a hurricane. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had.

I arrived at approximately 1:00 AM on October 9 with two duffel bags and a cooler. My room was on the second floor, with no elevator available. After carrying my belongings upstairs, my room key wouldn’t work. I returned to the front desk to have it reset, went upstairs again, and encountered the same issue. Eventually, an employee came upstairs and replaced the batteries in the door lock.

Once inside, I found a cracked sink countertop, a cracked toilet seat, stains in the shower, and bugs inside the lamps.

I finally went to sleep around 3:00 AM, only to be awakened around 7:00 AM by children running and screaming in the hallway outside my room.

I reported the problems to the front desk. Unfortunately, the hotel was completely booked, so I was told another room wasn’t available.

Later that evening, the disturbances continued. Children were running between nearby rooms, playing in the hallway, and making considerable noise. There was also a baby crying.

I complained to the front desk multiple times. The employee acknowledged the situation, said he could see the children on the security cameras, and attempted to contact the neighboring guests.

I personally heard him knock loudly on their door on two separate occasions. Nobody answered, and the disturbances continued.

I even recorded video evidence from inside my room demonstrating how clearly the noise could be heard.

By approximately 9:55 PM on October 9, I had exhausted my patience. I had repeatedly asked for assistance, but the disturbance remained unresolved. With no alternative room available, my only practical choices were to tolerate the noise or leave.

I chose to leave.

Pros:

Good location, great price , and the staff was friendly.

Cons:

Even with a good price, the room needs to be cleaned period. I literally took a rag with soap and hot water to clean the bathroom sink that had dirt substance on the front where it's not cleaned. The side table next to the bed also had a residue I had to wipe down. And the bathroom did not vent properly so the ceiling is flaking bad from showers.
