Our stay at the Grand Hotel de la Ville was nothing short of exceptional. Perfectly located in the heart of Sorrento, it made exploring the area incredibly easy while still offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The staff were outstanding, but a special mention must go to Rosalisa and Federica. They made such a genuine effort to greet our son George with a cheerful “ciao!” every morning and evening, which meant so much to us. Their warmth and kindness truly made our stay extra special—they are an exceptional asset to the team.
The hotel itself was immaculate, with cleanliness maintained to a very high standard throughout. Breakfast each morning was gorgeous, with plenty of choice and a lovely setting to start the day.
What really stood out was the overall atmosphere of the hotel—calm, welcoming, and effortlessly relaxing. It created the perfect environment to unwind after busy days exploring Sorrento.
Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable stay—we would return in a heartbeat!
We were upgraded to a full Napoli Bay View and our room was gorgeous with painted tiles and inlaid wooden furniture. The bedding soft was extremely comfortable a
Excellent hotel in a great location just a 5 min flat walk to sorrento town centre. Beautiful sea views, bar and restaurant. Perfect for a family, very clean! Large room with great facilities. Would recommend, we had a brilliant stay as a family of 4.
Beautiful rooms, super comfy beds, friendly staff and two incredible pools including the rooftop lounge area

People, location, rooms, breakfast
Drinks were weak, good ok
The staff are amazing, the food choice is broad enough for anyone and excellent quality, the rooms are clean and fresh, the outdoor areas beautiful, the proximity to central Sorrento is a short walk, there is a lovely lemon farm opposite to visit and also a great museum. We loved staying here, they make you feel like royalty, and would definitely come again.
La comodidad de la cama la situación y el desayuno.
El bańo tidavia con baňera, poco accesible.
El personal poco agradable y desconfiado.
A very convenient location, easily walkable from the train station and into town.
A beautiful view of the coast and sunsets from the roof top bar area. Amazing.
A big room, lots of space, tea/coffee making facility.
A large bathroom with bath and shower.
Fairly comfortable and large twin beds and electricity plug-ins reachable from the bed. Working tv and good air conditioner. A small balcony to sit on but sadly a very poor view of the town so not much used, I recommend you book a sea view.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
The elevators worked and were fast.
The breakfast was fresh, good wide selection and very nice.
The key negative is the noise in this hotel. The cleaning staff (2 per floor) start just before 7am and if you are rooms x01-x07 the cleaning station is just there, and they talk, laugh, talk on walkie talkies, have phone calls, talk with other guests, clack with booms and mops. Forget having a lie-in or relaxation, take ear-plugs. It was very annoying.
Do not have a room on floor 5. There is a gym with weights and the banging of weights on the floor just above us went on for hours. I think rooms 501-503 would be worst affected. Room x01 is right behind the lifts too so you hear those all hours.
The room was not particularly clean, given 2 cleaning staff per floor who are there for hours, with not that many rooms, it could do with a very good dust everywhere. The edge of the bath was black with dirt and could do with new grout. In general a good maintenance wouldn't go amiss, like fixing loose screws in the bathroom, since it all feels a little old.
No hot water - it is an ok temperature to shower, and probably ok in summer when you want a tepid or cold shower. But in March it was too cold. There was a bath which could be filled with cold water and then had to be topped up with many boiled kettles of water to get to some sort of nice temperature. And finally on the last day the water was turned off at 7.15 mid shower with soap in hair. The water was off for 30minutes. I guess these things can happen in an emergency but if it was planned we should have been warned, and there was no apology.
Exceptionally friendly staff, lovely food and bar. Fab location and views from hotel balcony.
Nothing - it was great!
My wife and I recently had a fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel de la Ville. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to be accommodating.
The Room (519):
We stayed on the fifth floor in room 519, and I highly recommend it. It offered a perfect balance—a partial sea view on one side and a beautiful view of the mountains on the other. The room itself felt like a great retreat.
Facilities & Grounds:
While the weather was a bit too chilly for us to take a dip in the pool, the area looked luxurious and well-maintained. The absolute highlight of the grounds, however, is the garden. The orange blossom trees were in bloom during our stay, and the scent was simply divine—it made every walk through the garden a sensory treat.
Dining & Value:
Breakfast each morning was quite good with a solid variety of options. While this hotel is certainly on the pricier side, we found the quality of service, the luxury of the facilities, and the overall experience to be well worth the investment.
We would definitely recommend the Grand Hotel de la Ville to anyone looking for a high-end experience in Sorrento. We can't wait to come back when it's warm enough to use that pool!
Cleanliness , decoration of common Spaces and rooms excellent. However , it is suppouse to be a 4 star hotel and you have to pay for sauna , the gym is too small and you have to reserve to use it, and if you ask for a tea bag to your room you have to pay 5 euros when generally that is for free. Also, i dont recommed asking for Food to the room , is bad quality and very expensive. Doesnt have indoor warm Pool . For me is a 3 star, averege hotel.
Beautiful, traditional hotel.
Loved the decor and ambience.
The staff are very professional and friendly.
Lovely garden terrace and roof top pool area.
The shower is dated and shoots water over the edge . The flimsy shower curtain does not keep the water in.
You never would have known we stayed the last week it was open for the season. We booked a beautiful top floor sea view room with a balcony. The view was fantastic. Gorgeous tiled floor. Small but lovely bathroom. Deep tub which was a bit high to step over for a shower. Just a long enough walk to the square. Breakfast and restaurant staff were wonderful as were all the staff. Coffee under the lemon trees in the garden was Amalfi perfection.
Staff very attentive
Clean and central location
