From the room, to the restaurant, to the atmosphere I would give the entire establishment 11 stars if I could. My wife and I are already looking for the next date we can return. If you're into crabcakes, wow! If I were to complain about them, too much crab in the crabcakes.
What didn't I like, the fact that I had to leave to return home. I know you're looking for additional sentences, but I'm hard pressed to find anything negative to say about Tidewater. It's our new escape place.
The Tide Water Inn was excellent. The shuttle existed and was there - thank you James! We saw the staff and they were so nice. Checked the beds and no stains! We’ve been traveling 18 years and we’ve been everywhere: this is the best place we’ve stayed. Thank you Tide Water!
My Richmond, VA, friend and I stole away for a couple nights in Easton at this hotel. It was a delightful visit and the hotel was perfect. We stayed on the top floor and it was quiet. The staff were extremely accommodating. The restaurant was pleasant and the food very good (I recommend the fried green tomatoes). The hotel and its furnishings didn’t seem dated at all and we enjoyed its unpretentious feel . Nicely landscaped with outdoor seating for relaxation (its courtyard) or dining. We treated ourselves to the spa package and were delighted by our facials and massages. Located in the “movie set” downtown and walkable to many shops, fine dining and galleries, the rooms were clean and significantly less costly than other Eastern Shore properties. Excellent for a quick trip from DC, Northern Virginia, and, of course, Maryland! It was just what two old friends needed.
Dinner was pleasant.
No breakfast the day we left.
Location, location, location. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast meals were quite good.
The Tidewater Inn was perfect for our recent family stay. We had the family suite, and it was clean, modern, and well designed. My son LOVED having his own room for a change and having two bathrooms was great. The hotel was also in a great location and made it easy to walk around town and to get dinner and ice cream. The hotel staff was lovely.
Bathroom sliding door did not close fully
First, the positives. The staff is super friendly. The morning coffee in the lobby was good quality. Also on the plus side was that our room was comfortably arranged, furnishings-wise (we had a roomier King room with a sofa/sitting area).
However, here are a few notes about the overall experience, that underpin why we wouldn't stay at the TWI again.
1) It's crazy that in this day and age there was no decent breakfast option for early risers, and/or people who want quality food options. Not all of us want to eat sugared yogurt or carby microwave sandwich options, and even those weren't available in the lobby on Friday morning (with the restaurant not opening until 8 AM). Cheap chain motels often do a better job.
2) While super friendly, as noted above, the staff was unable to tell us where we could walk nearby to get a real weekday breakfast. If in fact there IS no place nearby (meaning walkable, which is why we chose the Tidewater - to be right in town) that is open early (say, 7 AM or so) then it is all the more unacceptable that the hotel doesn't have a way of taking care of its guests who would like a proper breakfast. There was no room service option, either.
3) The bed pillows were too bulky and too firm. We both had neck aches so gave up using pillows at all on the second night.
4) My husband stepped on a previous guest's tuxedo shirt stud in our room, barefoot. Not good, and points to careless vacuuming (there was also a sort of blonde hairball on the carpet).
We felt like the TWI wants to be 'upscale', and it's a shame that it misses what in our minds are easy opportunities to stand out and be in a truly better category. It seems like it might be geared more around hosting local weddings, but not really attuned to serving lodging guests with finesse. Someone we met while in Easton mentioned that the rumor is that the Inn is about to be up for sale. If the Inn has been having business difficulties, I can see why that might be. It's too bad, because it's a pretty place and the location is ideal.
VERY tired old place. Our room was way too hot and humid because the a/c wasn’t working in the room. Had to leave the room door open to get the cool air from the hall. Friends who stayed here the same weekend had a toilet that did not work at all the entire time. Minimal response from management. VERY poor management. Do NOT recommend.
Professional staff, very pleasant demeanor.
Na
Hotel location was good with close proximity to everything in Easton.
Front dek staff helped with a TV issue which was nice. Grab and go breakfast was a nice touch.
Room was generous, but needs a deep clean. Corners of carpet were dirty with lint and dus bunnies. the bed skirt was hanging off the end of the bed. the mirror is too deep for the sink and I hit ym head everytime I brushed my teeth.
For the price, I expected it to be a little more dialed. The hallways and doorways are showing their age.
The location was good. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient.
The rooms are extremely small.
We use to live in Easton and whenever we get back to visit family we love staying at the Tidewater Inn. It’s a beautiful hotel updated rooms nice fun bar area. Historic building and great location for walking all through the town of Easton.
You never made the reservation,
Will never use booking again 😩
