The Barfield, Autograph Collection

It was our first time to stay at the Barfield and we were not sure what to expect. However, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff who greeted us and checked us in were so polite and knowledgeable. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive. The valet staff were fast. And breakfast was so delicious and our waitress made an amazing ice coffee to rival Starbucks any day. Our room was very spacious and clean. I was in love with the the bathroom shower. We have never stayed in the City Center area before but we will definitely stay again.

It was our 34 Anniversary. We booked the room months before. We got checked in and the air did not work. They should have told us that. I had to call front desk to tell them if can’t fix we wanted a refund. Was told they were overbooked and no rooms. Then while we were in the restaurant they found us a room. They moved us and treated us to champagne. Very nice. We left at 5:30 the next morning because I was up all night with my back killing me. The bed was the worse bed I have ever slept on. Felt like I slept on a sidewalk. Terrible for the money of that room.

5. This is one of the best hotels I have stayed. Clean friendly staff conveniently located and town. Breakfast was outstanding very tasty and fast.

Beautiful hotel. Comfortable rooms and stay. All staff was incredibly friendly! I would definitely stay here again. My original plan was to visit the Soeakeasy, but I didn’t realize it was closed on Sunday! Would definitely come back here again!

Everything about The Barfield was top-notch. The service, the rooms, the restaurant and bar downstairs, and the valet parking. While it's on the more expensive side, you get what you pay for here. Fantastic experience! And check out Shi Lee's BBQ & Soul Food just a 1/2 mile from the hotel. Amazing soul food!

Historical and absolute GORGEOUS!!! I couldn’t believe we got a room as nice as we did for the money!

Everything in that place is thought out and time and money spent to make it unique. Plus the building is very old, yet kept up really well.

And the speak easy! Gorgeous!

I travel more than 36 weeks a year, and very few hotels stop me in my tracks the moment I walk through the doors—but The Barfield Autograph Collection did exactly that. Within seconds of stepping into the lobby, I knew this place was special.

The atmosphere feels more Texas heritage-meets-modern-luxury than typical hotel. The inlaid bookcase behind the front desk immediately caught my eye, it was warm, sophisticated, and welcoming, like the home library of an old friend. Every design choice tells a story: the soft amber lighting, the dark-wood finishes, and those elevator floors adorned with two beautifully inlaid pistols crossing at the barrel and cowhide accents on the walls, a subtle nod to Texas pride done with refined artistry.

Our guest room was pure comfort wrapped in elegance. The rich dark-blue walls paired with deep brown trim and textured wallpaper created a calm, inviting backdrop. The furnishings were thoughtfully chosen; modern yet cozy, each piece perfectly placed. Even the lamp shades had a Texas touch with cowhide accents. The artwork told the story of the state, and the mini-bar was stocked with care. It wasn’t just a room; it was a retreat.

The restaurant downstairs was equally impressive. From the first bite to the last sip, the food and cocktails reflected the same attention to detail as the rest of the hotel; authentic flavors, beautifully presented, and served by a staff who genuinely love what they do. Every team member we encountered did Texas proud with their warm, attentive, and welcoming countenance. It was clear they were proud to represent The Barfield and enjoyed their jobs. A rare and most appreciate attribute.

To whoever designed this hotel: bravo. You’ve managed to capture the very soul of Texas, refined, bold, and endlessly welcoming and turn it into a place travelers will never forget.

If you find yourself anywhere near Amarillo, don’t hesitate. Stay at The Barfield Autograph Collection by Marriott. You’ll arrive as a guest but leave feeling like family, taking a lasting impression of the goodness of Texas with you.

Renovated. Nice bar and restaurant. Room was comfortable but TV remote and shower door dis not work.

The hotel is beautiful and very clean throughout with many unique touches. The staff were all friendly, professional and well trained. The food at their restaurant for dinner and breakfast was delicious and beautifully plated! The Speakeasy bar is unique with great service and a fun way to gain entry from the prohibition days.
We stayed at the Barfield for our anniversary, which my husband told them when making dinner reservations. The staff put a floral arrangement at our table with a happy anniversary card from the staff. Several of the staff wished us a happy anniversary. Alexis, our server, was amazing and made our experience that much better with her attention to detail and kindness.
Highly recommend the Barfield Hotel and Toscana Italian Steakhouse restaurant. It is an experience everyone should have many times!

Poor shower and a dangerous leak from the shower..

This hotel has been very well renovated. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Note that there is limited self parking, especially on week nights.

Very cool hotel, pet friendly, great food, our dog Thor was welcomed to all the areas of the hotel (understandably not the Restaurant) but the downstairs hidden Speakeasy was a highlight for us and Thor! Definitely will stay again!
