The front desk staff was friendly. Complimentary beverages in the lobby.
Had our car broken into while it was parked overnight at the garage that the hotel is contracted with. Over a $100 worth of belongings stolen. I called the hotel and was provided the garage’s phone number and no further assistance.
Bad neighborhood at night. Lots of intoxicated individuals and aggressive homeless people surrounding the building. No mini fridge or microwave in the rooms, despite paying $250 a night.
Cleaning staff was inadequate. There was what appeared to be dried blood on our bathroom wall.
Location and jacuzzi tub
No ice machine
What a lovely hotel, reminded my husband and I of hotels in Europe, particularly the bar, sitting area in the lobby where you could grab a drink and hang out.
Staff was helpful, bed comfy, linens soft and fresh. We were in Charlotte for an opera and the theater was a few steps away from The Dunhill. We enjoyed the onsite restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The food was unfussy southern comfort food.
When we return to Uptown Charlotte we will stay here again.
Location
The noise on the road.
A very relaxing place to enjoy a cocktail while waiting for our spooky haunted tour of the town. So we got there a little early and had two cocktails before our tour. And funny now, we also enjoyed two following our tour.
An interesting history and good cocktails. Really good cocktails.

Bed was comfortable. Shower pressure was amazing and hot hot water
I asked for coffee pods at front desk and they said they have no more coffee. My room was near the road and they were drag racing all night til 3am. Loud crowd was arguing in the hall and shouting at 4am, very rude.
Such a hidden gem, I think moving forward I will make an attempt at staying at historic hotels much more often.
The bad: on the 5th floor late at night you could hear the occasional car revving engine with loud muffler. This overall was really minor.
The AWSOME: The ceilings are high, the historic room was in a simple word charming. Giant walk in shower with tons of hot water, Bed was 100% perfect and the staff was always visible but we really never needed them. Even the doorman fully dressed all with huge smiles.
Self parking super easy. Location to downtown 100% perfect.
We loved this hotel so much we are planning another trip back.
Lots of ambience and comfortable accommodations. Close to lots of restaurants and bars.
Very noisy on Saturday night.

Review for The Dunhill Hotel, Charlotte, NC
SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN - NATURAL GAS SMELL IGNORED BY MANAGEMENT
My wife and I had to evacuate our room at The Dunhill Hotel due to a strong natural gas odor that posed a serious safety risk. This was not just our concern - multiple other guests also detected the same dangerous smell.
What Happened:
Strong natural gas odor in both elevators that service the hotel we Immediately reported the safety hazard to hotel staff member Louis on October 27-28
Louis claimed they would "check on it" but allegedly found nothing
Multiple guests confirmed they also smelled the gas - this was not isolated
We were forced to leave early for our safety
Hotel's Response:
Refused to provide any refund despite the legitimate safety concern
Dismissive attitude toward what could have been a life-threatening situation
Failed to take appropriate action even with multiple guest reports
No concern for guest safety or well-being
The Bottom Line: When multiple guests report smelling natural gas, any responsible hotel management would immediately evacuate the area and call professionals. Instead, The Dunhill Hotel ignored the safety concerns and refused compensation when we had no choice but to leave.
Natural gas leaks can cause explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. The fact that management (General Manager Jordan Kayser and Assistant General Manager Sole Keyes) were notified but took no meaningful action is deeply concerning. No guest should have to choose between their safety and their money.
Not only that Sole berated me and was super disrespectful and said that we would not get a refund for the nights that we did not stay there. Both of these managers should be fired.
We needed a nice place to stay while we were having renovations done on our home and thought that we should support a local non chain hotel. BIG MISTAKE.
I strongly advise potential guests to consider other accommodations until this hotel demonstrates they take guest safety seriously.
The staff, went out of their way to assist us with our reservation. Sole and Sylvester took good care of us. Hotel was beautiful and restaurant was great!
I didn’t like the fact Booking.com did NOT process our CONFIRMED reservation!
The room was spacious and clean!
Great staff, room, parking, and location. Will stay again!
My room felt cozy and roomy. Perfect corner room for me to get great sleep. Front desk, restaurant and bar staff made me feel welcome . Will be coming back for sure
After a very long day flying from Mexico my tv did not work. So I tried to call front desk and phone doesn't work. I go down to desk 2x. Nobody there. Third time a charm and gave him remote to fix while I had a late night bite. Go straight to my room only to find one side with a large blood stain Fromm a woman's period. Can't call down so I slept on coach. Told the gentleman at front desk my issues upon checkout. He offered me no remediation or suggestions how I can be compensated. However your general manager was a charming and gracious individual who opened the bar so I could have a cocktail. I did not express any of my frustrations to him. This is not acceptable behavior in a fine hotel. Do you agree?
