Beautiful location
Nothing
As usual everything was great. The view from the room was terrific. The staff was exceptional. We forgot some items in the room and they sent them back to us. We enjoyed the area, wildlife and people.
The only hickup was the cleaning staff. We made a mistake and left the do not disturb sign on the door and they left a note saying that they did not enter because of it. The next day we did not put the sign on but they did not show up until about 4pm (my wife was taking a nap. For a few nights it was not a big deal.
We were gifted a stay at The Lodge at Bodega Bay for our anniversary. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more! This is a beautiful, unassuming place. We were greeted warmly and able to check in early. Our room was large with high ceilings and a lovely fireplace. The balcony faced the bay and we spent lots of time there taking in the beauty. We ate dinner and breakfast at Drakes, the food and service were excellent. We also enjoyed the pool, spa and sauna. A perfect place to celebrate 38 years. Highly Recommend!
Loved our stay. Amazing views, great bath and enjoyed our wine upon arrival. Great little gateway. Will be coming back to seek peace
The view, the property and service was excellent. Dining at Drakes was special too. The pool is heated at a perfect temperature and the hot tub is super spacious with amazing views. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the future.
My wife and I had a lovely 3night stay at The lodge at Bodega bay. Wonderful service and beautiful grounds.
One of the best lodgings we have stayed in.
Clean comfortable room. Good
View of the bay and close to public beaches. No air conditioning in the rooms so not sure about the rooms being
Comfortable in August.
Nice pool and sauna.
This was my first stay at The Lodge At Bodega Bay. The rooms, the staff, the restaurant, the grounds — everything was excellent. Highly recommend visiting The Lodge!
Searching for a nearby retreat with great views and excellent service led us to a familiar choice: Bodega Bay Lodge. We’ve been coming here for many years, but hadn’t returned since Covid. Obviously the views haven’t changed. All rooms have views of the bay and grounds.
Check-in was efficient and friendly. The clerk gave us a card with confirmed dinner reservations for each night. Parking for the 200’s building is directly in front. While spacious enough, there were two high steps to access the entry. My wife needed considerable help to climb up. A grab bar would have made this more manageable. The same could be said for the walk-in shower. Nothing to hold on to. The bed was very comfortable but so high off the floor that my wife—5’5”—had to fling herself to get in.
Meals were a treat. Although everything is à la carte, there were many opportunities to share and split. Supreme ice creams and sorbets. Try the Ube! Both Joaquin and Kelsey were very helpful and catered to every wish. Room service breakfasts were also fine with excellent smoothies and muffins. Cappuccino’s arrived hot!
We will definitely return but with requests for a room easier to access. Special thanks to Hannah, who helped with special requests.
Beautiful grounds. Nice room with a view. Comfortable bed. Would have been a great stay, except for the fact that the only available electric car charger that fit my car, which is not a not a Tesla, was broken. In the morning we checked out and went down the road for breakfast. And a charger that worked. I learned a lesson. Now when inquiring about a car charger I specify that I need the non-Tesla type.
This was place was beautiful, peaceful, charming, great views, great rooms, great location, and good restaurant.
I loved my stay, but it was really expensive and I did feel like it was little overpriced.
We went from the Bay Area here for our anniversary weekend getaway and really enjoyed the serene and peaceful experience. The rooms all have nice views and the location is walking distance to beaches and more. We loved ALL the food and cocktails at Drake's! Excellent service too.
Back in January, I had read an article about the opening of a new public area called the Estero Americano Coast Preserve. Wanting to be among the first to hike the area before it became overly touristed, we decided to make a beeline for The Lodge at Bodega Bay, located just five minutes by car from the Preserve’s Shorttail Gulch Trail. The property’s proximity, combined with positive guest reviews, made the accommodation choice an easy one for us.
That said, we did not have especially high expectations for our stay given the relative lack of high-end properties along the Northern California coast. While I would not consider The Lodge at Bodega Bay a world-class luxury property, we nevertheless had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to return should another trip to the area be in the cards.
The 83-room boutique lodge is set in an undeniably idyllic location. It offers lovely views of Bodega Harbor, Bodega Bay, Doran Beach, and a marshland featuring a boardwalk that allows for close-up views of local and migratory birds. The structures themselves are styled like country homes, giving the property a strong sense of place. It is not overly luxurious, but rather has the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere of a vacation home.
We stayed in the Captain’s Quarters, a 1,200 ft² (111m²) suite and the flagship accommodation at the lodge. The decor and furnishings combined rustic and modern elements effectively, giving the suite a fresh yet cozy feel. It was spacious enough to comfortably stretch out and relax, while the living room featured large sofas and a dining table capable of seating up to six people.
The massive deck had its views slightly obstructed by buildings across the parking lot, though the spacious sitting area still seemed like an excellent place to relax - assuming the weather cooperates.
We had dinner at Drakes Sonoma Coast and returned the following morning for brunch. Although we enjoyed the dining experience overall, we did not feel it fully lived up to the numerous accolades the restaurant has received over the years. The local oysters, beet carpaccio, and especially the Manila clams served with Della Fattoria sourdough were all enjoyable, while the halibut with honeynut squash purée and Brussels sprouts ended up being an excellent choice.
We finished dinner with a pear bread pudding, which we found somewhat too heavy and overly sweet for our tastes. Overall, everything ranged from good to very good, though aside from the clams, few dishes truly stood out as memorable.
Brunch was similarly satisfying, if not particularly mind-blowing. The meal was solid across the board, with the French toast being the clear highlight and an excellent way to start a day of hiking in the Estero Americano Coast Preserve.
The Lodge at Bodega Bay is certainly one of the nicer coastal properties in Northern California, though I would still give top honors to Harbor House Inn for its more refined service, superior dining, intimate atmosphere, and more luxurious accommodations.
staff was very welcoming and room was very nice. However it can get hot so we had to leave the sliding door open which was a little weird at night.
Bikes also didn't really work which made riding back up the hill a bit difficult from the bay.
That said, lovely property at a decent value for the price point.
Amazing experience for our 10th wedding anniversary and birthday celebration! Fantastic service and phenomenal accommodations.
