We got a very good impression and can definitively recommend the historic important Grand Mercure Renmin Dasha as an optimal location for Xi'an - perfect service and very friendly staff. Best evaluation. Special appreciation is given for the helpful manager Wang Yiming 王毅明 who showed us the way to 鳩摩儸什 草堂寺!
if we need to run this hotel, we could not do it better
the carpets may be comfortable in cold wintertime, but are a hygienic problem

Room was probably the largest I have ever stayed in in my life! Very spacious, plenty of room to spread out, repack luggage etc. The room was very clean but the hotel overall has seen better days - it's a little tired and worn out but this is just an aesthetic issue, it did not impact negatively at all on our stay. I had the best sleep in this hotel out of our whole holiday in China! Staff friendly, professional, courteous and went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable.
Breakfast was adequate but not fantastic.
Loved the location..it was a beautiful oasis in the middle of town. Within the old city walls.

Location was excellent - close to subway station & either walkable or a short taxi ride to anywhere in the city. Room was clean & quiet. Breakfast was fine. Would stay again.
Breakfast was fine but a little awkward as there were probably more staff than customers - we were obviously there at a quiet time. Room was a little smaller than anticipated but perfectly adequate for a 1 night stay.
