Nothing. It feels very unsafe and isn’t fit for purpose.
After checking in, we walked down to our room which was at the end of the row of rooms. Half way down the row, was a bunch of topless men blasting music out, the passing conversation I heard was one gloating about doing 7 years in prison.
From this point on, there was constant noise coming from one room that sounded like it had 3 men in, constant shouting, swearing, laughing extremely loudly that lasted until 2am. This was constant. We didn’t report them as we didn’t even feel safe enough to go out of the room to the desk, and didn’t want to be targeted by them for reporting. We heard them be spoken to by either a guest or staff (sounded more like guest) and it didn’t help. They eventually wound down at 2am.
The rooms from the outside have a view of lorry’s flying down the motorway, inside is accompanied by the noise of them. The insides of the rooms are quite frankly disgusting and they should be paying people to sleep in them, not the other way round.
Before staying here, we had requested to cancel the room. Our stay was booked for Saturday night. We were told that the manager wasn’t available to cancel it and would only be able to do so on Monday - which is completely bizarre considering the stay is 2 days before this date. The female member of staff that I phoned about this was also extremely rude.
Normally we have been to places like this and seen bad reviews, turned up and it’s not been as bad as the reviews. This time, it was the opposite. The place is worse than even the worse reviews. There are also very obviously fake reviews left over the previous weeks from made up names stating “exceptional 5”. Tripadvisor has a much more realistic rating for the hotel, but still generous IMO.
Save your money and pay the extra to stay up the road. Nobody should ever pay money to stay somewhere and feel as unsafe as we did.
Friendly receptionist. The unlimited breakfast was exceptional the next day.
