The hotel and grounds were fabulous, the food was great.
Our only concern was that the mattress was soft, which we're not used to.
It was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful.
The bed was excellent and the shower was perfect. Food is available in the restaurant and the bar, with slightly different menus.
They could have provided hand and body lotion in the bathroom, but everything was so good that it is only a small criticism.
Room was comfortable but needs updating, slept well, bed was comfy but pillows too soft, Breakfast had a wide and variable choice but difficult to keep hot when self serve, coffee machine was broken on both days. Bar meal was excellent and one of the best Burgers I have tasted.
We were delighted to receive an upgrade on our room. We had dinner in the hotel which was excellent as ws the breakfast the next morning.

The bar/restaurant food. I would not advise eating here. We wanted a chilled first night, so went to the hotel bar, as we couldnt get a table in the restaurant. I had the chicken ceaser salad (chicken £8 more) and my husband had the club sandwich, with a side of fries. The chicken in both was dry, and flavourless. The lettuce was brown and soggy. I spoke to the manager, who took it to the kitchen. The outcome a dessert or free drink. Oh and they took the only nice thing off the bill, which was the fries. It was £55 for an old ceaser salad, unflavoured club sandwich, a spirit and mixer and cider (small bottle £7!). I was told they batch and precook the chicken. I dont know why as the restuarant looked empty and the bar was not busy. Its also the same kitchen as the restaurant. So we cancelled the table for the next evening and ate out. The hotel messaged me on booking.com, to ask how our stay was (the next day) and to let them know any issues. I did and they have still not replied...So eat out. I recommend the Flintgate Pub on the main road. Oh and the windows need a clean and a dust. Some lovely big cobwebs on them in the room!
Facilities and location in large grounds are good. Restaurant and bar service excellent.

It was a nice building. The room is spacious and the bathroom is updated. However, the room decor, furniture and carpets are a little tired.

When we 1st checked in and given room in 1st fl0or,we ended up on walking in on someone as room was occupied. Coffee from machine at breakfast not nice.
