Good Location, Historic Hotel with recent updates
Pros:

You really can’t fault the Palace Hotel for location — right on the shores of Lake Como and incredibly central. I do think this review needs to be taken in context, as we travelled in the off-season. At peak summer rates, the experience and expectation might feel quite different.

A huge shout-out to the maintenance and service staff, who were exceptionally friendly, as well as the restaurant team, who were excellent throughout our stay. The reception experience, however, was noticeably less warm. Having previously worked in a five-star hotel myself, I always make a point of making eye contact and greeting staff, and that simply wasn’t reciprocated here — reception staff rarely looked up from their desks.

We stayed in a lake-view room that had been recently refurbished, and the room itself was difficult to fault. Overall, it represented good value for money for a winter stay, but I’m not convinced I’d feel the same paying peak-season rates.
