We are leaving this hotel tomorrow and the stay has been amazing, please do not believe the bad reviews, for what we paid (£407pp, for 5 nights bed n breakfast, with jet2, with 2 cases and coach transfers) it was a right bargain, so I can only assume people are paying Travelodge prices and expecting The Ritz.
Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from, we had lunch in the snack bar a few times and it was very nice. We went down to the restaurant one evening but we didn’t like the look of the Buffett so didn’t bother eating there. Plenty of bars, restaurant a short walk to the hill, spar very close too.
We went to Vilamoura €10 in an uber and the old town €4.90 in an uber.
The pool area is clean and spacious with no scrapping over sun loungers.
All the staff (except one, older chap, in his 60’s I’d say) were lovely, friendly and helpful. We returned after midnight one evening and asked to purchase some water, he just said the bar is closed and walked away, my husband said, we appreciate the bar is closed, we just want some water to take to our rooms. Again he just said the bar is closed. We had to walk up to a bar for some water.
I would definitely return to this hotel, we have had a great time.
Clean respectable mid range hotel, definitely not a four star, pokey little balcony that you have to share with the air con unit, should you wish to use the gym you have to pay to use the spa as that’s where it’s situated however if you wish to use the pool in there you have to wear a swimming cap which coincidentally are available at reception for 4 euros
Spotlessly Clean, beds extremely comfortable with very spacious rooms. The pool was perfect for us. Breakfast had a very good assortment of fruits, breads, juices, coffee, Danish, yogurts but hot food area served food that had gone cold and was not fresh. Dinner menu was awful. Extremely disappointing. Pictures of food on your website very misleading, most of food advertised was not available. The food in the hotel would not encourage any of the group we travelled with to return to an otherwise excellent Hotel.
This was our 3rd visit to this hotel as its location is good for bars restaurants,We arrived about 11pm and at check in was asked for 100 euros deposit and tourist tax we have never been asked for deposit as we are pensioners and was told we could have the money back on check out, well we were checking out at 7am so was told by receptionist we could have it 24hrs before so thought that's OK,This hotel was 4 star 🌟 but unfortunately it has gone down hill, reception is nice but the cleaning leaves a lot to be desired buckets and towels in the corridor due to leaking aircon, rooms with dirty marks on walls filthy windows so bad we wrote our initials and date.We went for our deposit 24hrs before we checked out but was told no we were given wrong information so could only have it back on check out so just be aware of this.
Another great time at this hotel.
Location is brilliant. Not to far away from all the hustle and bustle but with enough bars and restaurants around it.
Great pool area and pool bar with reasonable prices and decent food.
Plenty of sun loungers getting most of the sun all day.
Rooms are very spacious with large beds and cleaned regularly. Down side balconies are small , couldn't even sit on ours properly and bathroom glass doors very noisy vibrating when opening or closing.
The hotel is spotlessly clean . Cleaners working till late at night. Great reception area and all staff very friendly.
Definitely planning a re visit.
Hotel Real Santa Eulália
This hotel feels more like a 3-star than a 5-star property — the service doesn’t live up to the rating.
What I liked:
• The beach is beautiful and easy to access.
• Rooms are clean, though quite basic.
• Free shuttle service runs Monday to Friday to both the New and Old town (but unfortunately not at weekends).
• The pool area is clean and well kept.
What needs improvement:
• Some staff members come across as rude, perhaps due to language barriers.
• Complimentary water delivery to rooms is unreliable — I had to complain just to receive a bottle, despite it being promised daily.
• The half-board buffet offers poor value. You can’t use any credit towards meals in their other restaurants, despite being told at check-in how many dining options are available.
• I was told dining in their specialty restaurants requires a “Gourmet Package,” which wasn’t mentioned on Booking.com.
• Charges for sunbeds were also not made clear when booking.
• “Resort view” really means a view of the entrance road and parked cars.
• Dinner options for vegetarians are very limited (mainly just salads).
• No clear allergy information is provided (e.g., about nuts) — which could be dangerous.
Overall, the location and cleanliness are positives, but the lack of transparency, limited dining options, and service issues mean I would rate this more as a 3-star than a 5-star experience.
My husband and I stayed in mid-September and although I was a little concerned after reading some reviews, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be returning. I had been worried about potential noise from guests coming back from the strip, but the time of year we traveled likely helped as it wasn't so busy.
The hotel itself is very clean. We stayed in a One-Bedroom Apartment on the first floor with a pool view, which I would highly recommend for the space it offers. The pool area was also very clean, with plenty of loungers available - we never had any trouble getting one each morning. Our room was serviced daily and fresh towels were provided each day, which was a nice touch.
We didn’t dine at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food, but we visited the Cosy Corner which is a short walk from the hotel most days for breakfast or lunch and would highly recommend it. On our first evening, we arrived late and ate at Paulu’s Pizzeria/Italian Restaurant, also a short walk from the hotel and we would recommend it too.
For trips into Old Town, we used Bolt, which cost around 3–5 euros each way. We ate at Sexy Meat, Georgina's & Alfredos which were all very good. We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend it.
Staff always pleasant & polite. Rooms cleaned & beds made daily. Plenty of sunbeds by the pool. Separate grassed area in the shade.
On arrival met with a great English speaking receptionist got room all good and clean, no pool view did request one but still ok, paid for a breakfast every day good choices plenty of fruit and cereal cooked breakfast 🍳.
First night sleeping found some noise in he early hours, it’s banging doors which have to be pulled hard shut heavy door late night drinkers coming back , so I wore my ear plugs from then on great sleep after.
The pool area is good clean not heated so jump in a bit of a cold surprise 😂. No Lifeguard which I think they should have one for the size of the pool.
Staff the bar staff friendly the kitchen staff not so much please smile more if you read this 😋
All in a good clean hotel near some very nice reasonably priced bars restaurants, the strip is about 15 mins away & the old town a train on wheel’s is a good thing gets you about see what’s about. Taxis from €5-8 euro depends where he drops you off.
Old town plenty of great bars and restaurants yet pricey the marina is a nice place to go by land train again eat out.
Yeah I’d come again stay in this hotel but all comes down to price been competitive I look around.
Thanks for a good stay.
This hotel isn't what they represent. Customer service was horrible as they weren't interested in resolving any of the issues that came up during our stay. Then they overcharged us after we checked out for additional charges that weren't ours.
I was very hesitant to book hotel for our trip going by some of the reviews but was glad to gave stumbled across an honest and detailed review by Stevie.
Lovely hotel and great location. Reception staff helpful. Barman lovely and smiley. Waiting staff not so much.
Hotel is very clean, plenty of staff cleaning all day. Currently, the room next to us is being cleaned for new guests for the last hour. Very thorough.
Only food I had in hotel was a wrap, which was not great. It was fine. Filled a gap. But wouldn't bother with the food. Met a guest this morning who said food wasn't good. She went for half board. Cold food and wasn't happy with quality.
Plenty of eateries closely. The cosy corner a couple of steps away is delicious and reasonably priced.
Taxis to old town booked via Bolt comes in at €5 at the most.
Plenty of bars around that sell the local beer for couple of euro and loads of supermarkets. Just watch out as prices vary alot from one to another. Aldi 10 minute walk.
I would definitely stay here again but wouldn't stay during peak times as you are at the mercy of your neighbour with noise. Our first night there was plenty of noise and banging. Lucky for us, that was there last night so it wasn't an issue. Cleaning staff can be a bit noisey with dragging furniture and banging doors so hard to have a sleep in past 8. Very minor for us but want to give a fair review.
Price wise. Yes expensive but after seeing some places in person since I got here, that I thought were good, are in terrible condition and very very run down so I feel like I struck gold!
The hotel staff are rude and do not care at all .
We was half board and the food was of poor quality…
Our room flooded due to a problem with the shower , and they didnt send anyone to fix the problem! So every time we showered the room flooded!!
On top of that i payed a 100 euro deposit for the room upon arrival , which no one had told us about!!
I am also still yet to receive this money back! It has been well over a week since we left!
If anyone else had problems with receiving there deposit back please let me know!
I do quite a bit of homework before choosing a holiday and did the same again this year. I finally decided to go back to Portugal, close to Albufeira, this hotel seemed a good place to go. I went with EasyJet, early June, good price but the most I've paid for, ever! Let's keep it simple.
Hotel: good location, 10 minutes from strip, nearest beach 12 minute walk slightly hilly.
Enough bars and restaurants to keep you happy, food and drinks cheap.
Hotel is clean, staff very good, can be noisy at night when youngsters return from strip, pool area good, bar service good, bar food is good and caters for the discerning British palate of chips and burgers. The main restaurant is good and serves a very good breakfast
Let’s get down to it without the fluff, people get bored pretty quick!
Location: Very good, 12 mins from strip, 10/12 mins from beach downhill there, little hilly on way back. Enough eating and drinking places within 15 mins range, entertainment is usually on in the bars, especially karaoke, don’t panic no one is forced! Chemists, doctors, hospitals all minutes away. Lots of souvenir shops nearby, small supermarket and excursion shops too.
Hotel: good access, stairs and ramp, lifts to all floors, clean and bright throughout, all the staff are helpful and speak English, I have seen reviews mentioning parts of the hotel is tired, yes maybe bits a pieces need an update but nothing to spoil your holiday. Rooms are clean and airy, good air-con, towels changed regularly, very good pool with huge parasols.
Food: breakfast is all you can eat buffet style and was very good, kitchen staff were great, especially the waitresses. Lots of fruit, cooked breakfast, bread, water, coffee machines, cakes, you name it, it was available. Now for dinner, which I booked for the whole two week stay. If there is not enough occupancy, the dinner is a la carte and a bit limited. There was a buffet several times and it was good but not what I am used to.
Now, on the Easyjet and Jet2 websites it says the restaurant is buffet style. So it is buffet style for the unlimited starters and deserts, there is nothing wrong with the food and the kitchen tried to accommodate us on many occasions but two weeks is too long for me on this type of menu.
I would recommend the breakfast and this can be bought daily at the hotel and also the dinner, but there are lots of options nearby and it’s not expensive. In hindsight I would have only booked breakfast.
Pros: good location, nice staff, clean, laid back, helpful, friendly.
Cons: lots of young people use the hotel and can be noisy at night on their return, the hotel in fully tiled throughout and shoes can be noisy! This may depend on where you are located in the hotel!
Only entertainment is on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Tips: use the UBER app if you have it for taxis, cheap and reliable. The little road train is cheap but is too far from the nearest stop, near the old Bullring, or bottom of the Strip.
Go into the old town, worth a visit. I never used the bus service which is cheap.
Visit the Praia Santa Eulália, beds and parasols available, two restaurants, left side is expensive, 28Euro for two beds and a parasol for the day, or 14Euro for half day. On the right side of beach,20Euro for parasol and two beds for all day.
Did I have a good holiday? Yes. Would I go back? Maybe!
For the guys and possibly girls, local beer. €3.5 a pint….€ 2 during happy hour. €3 for glass of wine Three course meal in some restaurants € 15 includes a drink as one of the courses.
After reading some recent reviews I was a little worried before arriving to the hotel.
On arrival I found there was not much to complain about.
The hotel apartment was clean, spacious and fresh. The pool area was clean with plenty of loungers around the pool and garden area until 11am.
Drinks from the bar were always made fresh and strong.
Room cleaned daily with fresh towels. The fridge in the kitchen worked great allowing us to freeze water.
We didn’t visit the spa was good value.
Yes there were groups of young friends staying at the hotel, however I didn’t find these caused much disruption. Any music at the pool was told to stop after a short while.
We may have got lucky over our duration, however given the prox walk to new town this will happen.
It isn’t the hotels fault the area has spiked in popularity with teens.
Oh Santa Eulalia Hotel what have you become. This was our 10th visit to the hotel and sadly will probably be the last unless they revert back to the hotel it was.
As covered in previous reviews the hotel has become a haven for teenagers and large groups (Which I thought weren't permitted) resulting in turning this great hotel into a bit of a summer camp for 17-22 yrs old.
Numerous incidents throughout the 12 night stay to mention but in short from 1pm when they woke from there slumber to invading the pool area with the boom boxes and general disregard to other guests. Then comes the night shift from 0200am onwards with the singing , banging of doors and hysertical screaming. The Hotel are fully aware as they now have a visable secuity presence at reception so with that being the case why are they now accepting these types of bookings.
Hopefully Hotel management read these recent reviews and revert back to the tried and tested bookings thats served them so well in the past.
Rest ,piece, relaxation then save your money unless your under 25yrs of age.
Place itself is great can't fault it bit when the sun sets its a different hotel.
Young 'adults ' are an absolute joke when it comes to being respectful of others around them.
Shouting, slamming doors ,arguing, fighting and that's just the girls.
Albufeira has become the new Magaluf, and it's solely set up for a certain age group, here 8 yrs ago and the resort is unrecognisable to what I remember unfortunately.
My 10th and final visit and talking to others around the pool it's the same for them also.
Shame as it was beautiful prior to the invasion of unruly mainly young Brits.
Pastures new await.
Good and bad points about this hotel, I'll start with the good.
This recently refurbished hotel has only four floors, the rooms are comfortable with free air conditioning, a small kitchen complete with all the usual kitchen appliances and utensils. There's a television, a small balcony and a safety deposit box which is chargeable.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and well serviced with towels changed frequently.
There's a restaurant, a Spa with a small pool and jacuzzi and beauty treatments available, again chargeable.
Outside, there's a main pool with plenty of sun loungers, a quiet garden area, a pool bar with shaded seating area, and a separate shower/ changing room block for those with a late departure as you have to check out the room on your last day by 11am.
The hotel is situated only a few minutes walk away from the beach, and very close to lots os little bars and shops. All the staff in this hotel were polite and helpful.
Bad points.
Unfortunately, this hotel is very popular with large groups of lads and large groups of girls, like a bad 18-30 holiday. Mainly because of its closeness to 'The Strip' with its many nightclubs.
Their loud and unruly behaviour, kicking footballs around the pool area and playing music on their speakers, made it impossible to relax.
There is no life guard to keep order, and as such found the pool area too loud and noisy.
They had no respect for anything or anyone. This wasn't a one off occurrence, as soon as one group left, more groups of lads arrived, then more groups of girls, all throughout the week. Banging doors all hours of the night and shouting made sleep in your room awkward to say the least.
Albufeira in general has become party town for the young, and evidence of every nights antics were visible the next day in the streets.
It's not often I am happy to leave a place, but I was happy to leave here. The hotel and staff are lovely, but it's in the wrong place and spoilt by the majority of young groups who stay there.
It's for these reasons, I shall not be returning to this hotel or resort.
This was our 3rd visit to Santa Eulália Hotel and Spa. We had a lovely time, the rooms are spotless and spacious, cleaned and towels changed daily. We had a lovely refurbished room on the 4th floor with a huge walk in shower. We love the garden area for sunbathing as it is quieter and there is shade if you need it and we were always able to get a sun lounger. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great as it is close to lovely bars, restaurant's and beaches.
Me and my friend came to this hotel for the week and had an amazing time. The staff at reception were always so helpful and the pool bar staff were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble! The cocktails were lovely and service was always super quick, we also ate there multiple times and the food was great. The room was spacious and cleaned daily. We usually sat in the garden area next to the bar as some days there was a shortage of sun beds around the pool, but the garden often had some available and was a nice quiet place to lay. The old town is only a 10 minute bolt/uber away and they are easily accessible and cheap. The hotel is also near lots of little supermarkets and restaurants/bars, and the beach is only a 10 minute walk.
The only issue we experienced was loud groups of young people around the age of 17-20. It is worth baring in mind the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the strip, so understandably groups will be staying here and some can be quite rowdy. The walls are extremely thin and we were often woke up around 4am to the sound of screaming/shouting/stomping as groups were returning drunk from night outs. Speakers were also brought out around the pool by multiple groups and blared out loud with no consideration of others.
Apart from that we had a lovely stay and were really happy with our trip 🤍
I have recently returned from visiting this hotel in June 2025. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are spacious and have good facilities, some of the furniture was a bit worn down and looked like it needed replacing, beds were comfortable. All staff members we encountered were lovely and very helpful. Credit to the bar staff, the food and drinks were very reasonably priced and nice. We had some issues with getting sun beds but there was a quiet garden area where we spent most of our time sun bathing. The hotel had quite a few big groups of teenagers on holiday, some of them were loud and played speakers around the pool which made it hard to relax so we would end up moving. Our main concern was the thin walls, groups of teenagers would go out in the evening and return home between 2am-5am screaming and thudding which would cause us to be awake multiple times a night, this happened every night of our holiday, with being so close to the new town strip, although this is not the hotels fault at all. I would reccomend staying at this hotel but to be wary if you are wanting a peaceful holiday as it’ll be particularly noisy during the summer months with young groups. Overall we had a lovely time just a few minor issues.
