The location is unbeatable. The colonial feel is good. You can see the Brazilian side of the Cataratas at leisure. Beyond that, there's nothing much. The available experiences are boring andDisney-likee. If you want to explore the area, staying at the Belmond is a restriction—no self-drive. Slow shuttles pedantically running at 36 km/h back and forth. Not the experience you want if you're looking for thrills and the adventure of exploration.
Fantastic colonial hotel- location with private access to the falls before and after the national park closes- for us it was sensational being alone in the middle of the falls.
It really is all about the location. It is certainly a nice hotel (with some unexpected service issues in the buffet and breakfast) but the location is what you pay to stay here for. The exclusive access to the falls is beyond compare. Views are far better than the other side.
My wife and I had the most memorable stay at Belmond Cataratas. It is a stunning property nestled in the perfect viewing spot of the national park. The benefit of being right in the park is being able to experience it all to yourself at sunrise and sunset.
The room rate is expensive but the unique nature of the property, location and service for us more than justified this once in a lifetime experience.
A huge thank you to all the staff who made it this so memorable from Sergio at check-in, Clyverson and Jennifer at Restaurante Y and more!
Whilst the whole experience from booking to checkout was far from perfect, 4 bubbles just doesn't do the hotel and its location justice.
Following poor communication pre-arrival with the concierge(s) and what seemed like a concerted effort to block us from speaking with management, we were very close to cancelling our booking and staying at the Gran Melia on the Argentine side. We were glad that we didn't. Having pieced together the manager's email address from the incorrect information we were provided with, the manager and his rooms manager ensured our questions were answered and that we were very well looked after.
We received the warmest of welcomes on arrival. The hotel itself is beautiful and the location magical. The benefit of being the only hotel within the Falls meant that we could see the Falls before the crowds of tourists were allowed in.
The room was beautiful, kindly upgraded by management, the service was excellent with great attention to detail.
Food was mixed, perhaps breakfast was a little disappointing but we had a lovely experience at 'Y', specifically their tasting menu with traditional local dishes.
We enjoyed the complimentary experiences such as the early morning walk to the Falls and the toast to the sunset. Only 'negative' was one of the 'paid for' experiences, the Poco Preto trail. For some reason various employees appeared to be subtly dissuading us from doing this trail. We were still keen as we enjoy hiking but were then advised by the guide himself not to do it. We followed the guide's advice, did a couple of alternative trails, but on our return had to get into various conversations about the fact we were supposed to do a 5.5 hour activity and ended up doing a 3.5 hour activity. The concierge supervisor dealt with this appropriately but we couldn't help but wonder why they were offering this activity.
Despite the various 'niggles' we would definitely recommend staying here, it is a very special and unique place.

Amazing, great location, good and service. The pool was perfect for relaxing. Suggest that you do a private picnic on the falls overlooking the falls.
Wonderful experience at this iconic hotel in an awesome location. The service from time of check in to check out was outstanding. We enjoyed the complimentary nature walk on the morning of our departure. Transportation to and from the hotel was seamless.
Nature, design, location, personnel and service.
Yes, it's worth it, hands down, don't think twice. The falls in the morning (with no crowds) are spectacular, the hotel property is gorgeous, and the staff are great.
The Hotel das Cataratas is stellar in location, beauty, service, and accommodations. The hotel overlooks Iguazu Falls, allowing guests a spectacular view of the Falls outside Park hours. The hotel is gorgeous, with a sophisticated look and feel worthy of a world-class hotel rating. The service was impeccable, with every detail addressed. The accommodations address every wish and amenity.
An exceptional luxury hotel directly overlooking the falls. Staying here allowed early access to the fall trails before the hordes of visitors descend. It is right inside the national park. The food, especially the dinner buffet was delicious. Pricey but worth it if you can afford it for a once in a lifetime experience at Iguazu Falls
Location, welcome on arrival and check in / help to room.
Shuttle good although slow (not Belmond restriction).
Dinnet and breakfast buffet great.
Room met our requirements and there were lots of little touches we loved. .
Being disturbed at night due to guests arriving late at night and walking past room talking loudly. No signs or guidance to be quiet in the area.
