The location of this hotel is amazing, overlooking Iguazu Falls. You can walk down and visit the falls before the park opens which is a wonderful opportunity and mainly why we chose it.
The hotel building is lovely. The pool area is nice with pletny of loungers. And service around the pool is excellent.
The room was a good size and housekeeping was very efficient. The air conditioning was too loud and kept going on and off but it did work. We also used room service and found it probably the best option for vegan choices.
We thought the service at the hotel was disapointing particularly in relations to food service. It is a long way out of town so I checked before hand that they had vegan options and was repeatedly assured they did. But at the hotel this is very limited and they are not reassuring in what they tell you. On the first night, we chose not to eat at the experience restaurant because we were not at all happy with how they approached the vegan offering. There is nothing on the menu and they did not give us any confidence that they understood what we wanted.
After this, someone in customer service was very apologetic and organised for someone to look after us in the other restaurant and this was much better. Although we had breakfast there also and there were few options availble then. On our first morning at breakfast it was very difficult to find a member of staff to ask about dairy free milk and nothing was put out.. Staffing levels seemed to be very low and so it was hard to find help. By comparison we stayed in a 4* hotel in Rio folliowig our stay here and I counted 15 members of staff in the breakfast room so help was always oni hand. It was a much smaller dining room than the Belmond too.
We also found this at reception where we were kept waiting for ages while trying to check out because the single receptionist was dealing with another guest for a long time. Nobody else was apparently available to help us and we very nearly missed the shuttle to the park entrance becauise of this.
I complained several times during and after our stay and got many apologies acknowledging tht it wasn't good enough. It was certainly not the service we expected from a 5* hotel and I would never consider staying at a Belmond property again because of it.
Everything was exceptional. Seeing the falls while staying at the resort is a dream stay. I’d give it 100 stars if I could.
Unbeatable. Perfection. Such a special hotel in a phenomenal part of the world!
Nothing
Ar condicionado do restaurante quente.
Quarto muito confortável e ambiente da piscina excepcional
O custo do transfer é muito elevado
Organização e limpeza
Pool is amazing, location is marvelous, stuff is helpful, breakfast is excellent
Exchange rate of the hotel is extremely low. They are just thiefs. We ordered transfer, but driver did not come.
Luxurious stay at a world class location. Walking in the morning to the falls. Watching the sun set over the falls while drinking brut...memories of a lifetime.
This is the first negative review I have ever written. Just checked in to Hotel Das Cataratas for our 20th anniversary trip. We booked our reservation through American Airlines travel and when we arrived the hotel informed us the reservation was canceled 3 weeks ago. I was shocked since I confirmed the reservation on Sunday and received another confirmation from American while working with the front desk. The hotel blamed American and offered us 1 night in a lesser room and then switch to the room we had reserved for 50% total more than the original price. I was devastated. After hours of talking with the front desk and ruining our (and our friends’) afternoon the manager finally offered us a rate that was comparable to our original reservation. The manager mentioned that this has been happening more with different reservation sites…. Which is frustrating that this luxury hotel does not have a better way to protect their travelers. I’m finally in my room and feeling really sad and disappointed that I’m not in the room I have been dreaming of for months and I can’t help but feel a little icky that they originally tried to offer such a higher price when this has been happening “more and more”. Hoping the rest of the trip is more of what I had been dreaming of.
What a wonderful hotel in a gorgeous setting. We liked every minute of our stay. Admittedly, the price is very high, and even we as very seasoned travelers rarely spend this much money for a hotel night. But given the extraordinary location , the charm that is radiating from the hotel, and the absolutely fantastic dedication of the staff to our needs made our stay very worthwhile. Our room faced a beautiful garden and had a very historic feel, with warm woodwork and blue-themed ceramic tiles in the bathroom. Wifi was strong and reliable. Breakfast offered ample choice. We opted for an a la carte dinner at the Ipe restaurant, which was tasty and a good value. The champagne reception in front of the hotel at sunset was very memorable, as was our sunrise walk along the falls in the morning; we had the park to ourselves (almost) and took beautiful pictures at twilight. One key advice: Use the hotel’s concierge desk to arrange for travel to and from the hotel through the national park and, in our case, across the border with Argentine. This makes the ride very smooth (no transfer to the hotel’s shuttle bus needed at the park entry) and accelerates the border crossing.
Absolutely phenomenal in every way. The private access to one of the most spectacular places on earth is in itself a reason worth staying, but the hotel is also truly incrediblr. Rooms are beautiful, food delicious and staff warm and attentive. On top of that, the property is immersed in wildlife, with lots of visits from cute birds, toucans, coaties and lizards even by the hotel pool.
Just the best experience. Now even better with the bicicle trip
