Fantastic hotel, great location if you like to be in the action. Would stay again absolutely!
Pros:

The hotel was in a perfect location. Close to the metro, restaurants and on Nanjing Road. The Bund was across the road. The hotel was spotless the room was huge and very comfortable and amazing! Highly recommend.

Cons:

You could only use the pool if you wear a swimming cap. It is a government stipulation.
A couple of the staff that were around the concierge although very nice, gave us incorrect information twice. We had done our own due diligence. One said we could only go on a lights cruise with a buffet meal - incorrect the other said we had to buy a metro ticket for the train to the airport, we explained we had been tagging on and off all trip, 5 days with our credit card, he seemed genuinely surprised…

Exceptional Historical Hotel in a Perfect Location,
Pros:

Breakfast: Exceptional. There was a wide variety of options from traditional chinese, japanese and western style. Stations for noodle soup, omelette and one preparing various chinese style pancakes. Fresh juices packaged in recyclable glass containers, extensive fruit options as well as dumplings. It is one of the best breakfast buffets that I've experienced. The only uncomfortable issue was parents letting their children go to the buffet touching or reaching into the platters.
Location: Perfect location for exploring the Bund, for shopping and walking along the river parkway.
Service: The entire staff is very accomodating, helpful and polite. The Gym and yoga room were well appointed.

We adored this hotel, it is luxurious and historic and in the perfect Shanghai location.
Pros:

The history and art deco design of the building are fascinating and beautiful. The room we had was more like a suite with an entry foyer and a couch, coffee table, writing desk and dressing room.
