Title: A Wonderful Stay in an Iconic Shanghai Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Peace Hotel, an iconic property with an exceptional location right on Nanjing Road and just steps away from the Bund. It is an ideal base for exploring Shanghai, combining history, character and a truly privileged location.

Our room was very comfortable and impeccably maintained, and the overall standard of service throughout the hotel was excellent.

We would particularly like to highlight the Concierge team, who were outstanding. They were consistently professional, efficient and extremely helpful, assisting us brilliantly with several matters during our stay and making a real difference to our experience.

The only aspect that we felt could be improved concerns the hotel's restaurants. We dined at both the Dragon Phoenix and The Cathay Room, and although we appreciated the quality and setting, we were disappointed that the kitchens close at 9:00 pm. On both occasions, we also felt some pressure to have the various courses served too quickly, sometimes almost at the same time. This took away from the pleasure of enjoying a relaxed dinner, which we would expect to be an important part of the experience in restaurants of this standard.

We fully understand the need for kitchen closing times, but we believe the service should be organised in a way that allows guests with accepted reservations to enjoy their meal at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed.

Overall, however, the Fairmont Peace Hotel was an excellent experience. Its unique character, superb location, high standard of service and exceptional Concierge team make it a hotel we would certainly recommend and would be very happy to return to.

We were also quite surprised by the policy at The Jazz Bar. As hotel guests who were already regularly using and spending in the hotel's bars and restaurants, we found it rather unusual to be required to commit to a minimum spend simply to enjoy the Jazz Bar. For that reason, we ultimately decided not to visit it. In a hotel of this category, we feel that resident guests should be able to enjoy such an iconic hotel venue without being subject to a minimum consumption requirement.

I asked for clarification regarding the charge and felt the way the situation was handled significantly affected my overall experience. For a hotel of this level, I expected a more reasonable and transparent approach to accidental damage.”

Great Experience
Pros:

There are crowds of tourists outside trying to get in who are politely turned away - as a guest you get to live the experience. Yes its a step back in time but that means vast rooms, great service and a special experience. The Gold Club lounge if you can afford it is worth every cent - excellent service and snacks- well meals of you want - and drinks. Just do it !

Cons:

Long walk to rooms from lifts thru vast corridors and lounges- but part of the experience

Ein perfekter Aufenthalt – ich kann dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.
Pros:

Alles war ausgezeichnet. Das Hotel war wunderschön, sehr sauber und stilvoll. Das Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Lage perfekt. Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt sehr genossen und komme gerne wieder.
