Grano de Oro Hotel

Hotel Grano de Oro is a very charming place and an excellent starting point for a Costa Rica round trip. It’s not an anonymous chain hotel, but a place with real character. The courtyard in particular (with its restaurant) conveys a true Central American ambi-ance. The dinner menu is diverse and locally inspired. Breakfast is outstanding, gener-ous, and easily keeps you satisfied well into the afternoon.
Our room was a bit dark (both sides facing the courtyard, with large plants in front of the windows). But in the end we weren’t staying at Grano de Oro to spend time in the room.

Hotel Grano de Oro feels like a refined colonial house where the inner courtyard and rooftop terrace provide a peaceful setting that contrasts nicely with the lively city outside.

We weren't actually able to make our reservation due to cancellation madness at Schiphol airport because of snow. However the staff handled it absolutely brilliantly, even changing our booking to one instead of two days so we didn't have to pay for half. Amid all the travel misery, that was a really kind thing to do and as a result we'll definitely be back to stay in the hotel properly another time. Thank you!

Mooi en smaakvol koloniaals ingericht hotel met goed restaurant.

Sehr komfortabel und ruhig gelegen. Parkplatz gut bewacht und somit sicher.
Tolles Bett und tolle Dusche.
Essen im Restaurant exzellent. Frühstück zu teuer, kein Hit.

Insgesamt hat alles gepasst und wir waren mit dem Aufenthalt sehr zufrieden. Schade war einzig, dass ein Late Check-out nicht möglich war, da unser Flug erst am Abend ging. Ansonsten können wir die Unterkunft definitiv weiterempfehlen.

The property is so well maintained and the interior design & vintage decor are very charming. Rooms are wonderfully comfortable with a nicely stocked mini bar of goodies & non alcoholic drinks. The live plants are a nice touch & beautiful!

Cool old building

Stayed here for 3 nights after landing in San Jose from London and before heading off around Costa Rica. It is an oasis in an otherwise busy city. The restaurant is lovely and both breakfast and dinners were great. The location is very good.
I had a massage which was fab after a 13 hour flight.
Hotel decor is wonderful

Beautiful old colonial building with stunning furnishings and grounds (would have been nice to have a couple of benches to sit on in the courtyard gardens). Very good breakfast, though we did not eat dinner here. Pleasant roof terrace and jacuzzi (if you like that sort of thing) alongside a small gym. The location is quiet - close to Sandana Park, with a restaurant just opposite. We ate in the city - downtown is approx ten mins by Uber or 45 minutes to walk.
Efficient check in and desk service, they very kindly looked after our suitcase for a couple of days. These are the things you remember: when a hotel goes out of its way to help you. Also, with an early check out, they gave us breakfast in doggy bags to eat at the airport. Many thanks.

Little garden area outside your room. And very quiet. Solid breakfast, too!
