The overall vibe and the fun activities at the resort, and the food is also very good.
The casita did not have any utensils/plates/wine glasses and only a tiny fridge (they want you to eat and drink everything at the restaurant), and the living room needed a rug.
We were first here 20 years ago. La Casa looks a bit tired but is still lovely--beautifully landscaped grounds, lovely rooms, multiple pools and exercise facilities. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Staff very friendly though it did take 45 minutes to get ice delivered (why aren't there ice machines scattered around the property?).We didn't eat at La Casa so can't comment on the restaurants other than the handy, but overpriced cafe for breakfast coffee and yogurt.

Amazing location and the grounds were beautiful! All the pathways and signs were a cute added bonus. I could go on for days about all the amenities. Yoga, pickle ball, coffee shop, bar, restaurant, warm pools, jacuzzi and even a star gazing location. So impressed with this hotel, telling everyone I know to stay here.
Absolutely nothing, could not have asked for a better experience.
Pristine, beautifully landscaped, lots of activity options
Large, spacious rooms, tastefully decorated
Really comfortable beds, linens pillows
Well designed and stocked bathrooms
Pools too cold, room microwaves would be nice
Great service and clean rooms.
The spa and salon were closed the time we were there but it was still an enjoyable stay.
The staff is nice and friendly. Our room was upgraded to a king suite and it was a lovely, big room right by the pool and spa (Room 160). The grounds were beautiful and nicely laid out. I took a yoga class with Claire and really enjoyed it! She is an excellent teacher and the yoga room is very nice.
The worst part was the first two nights there was an awful clanging, banging noise directly against the room outside wall. The first night it drove me crazy and I didn’t get any sleep. We figured out the next day that it was something to do with the pool filter/pump. The next night I played white noise from my phone and finally got a little sleep. They must have done something to it the third day because that night we didn’t hear it. Bliss☺️
The other very weird thing is that all four faucets plus the toilet only ran hot water! You got steamed when you sat down😳
There were very few people staying there, and I felt the cleaning crew ignored us totally. Our trash cans were overflowing when we left and no one ever asked if we needed anything. We had to go to the lobby every day to get coffee for the next day. I understand they don’t clean your room every day, but for the price of the room I felt they could give a little more personal attention. When we got there, there was a used towel, empty coffee cup, and a crumpled newspaper by the pool lounge chair in front of our patio. It was still there 4 days later when we left.
We will go back, as we love La Casa del Zorro and have gone there since the 80s. Just a few simple things could have made it a 5.
Wonderful staff , beautiful rooms. By far the best resort in borrego springs.
Open and spacious. Pool and tennis court and ping pong were awesome
Paths were a bit worn and pitted, hard to see at night
Nice facilities, beautiful grounds and pools, good quality restaurant
The room’s air conditioning was insufficient. It never was cooler than 85.
The location of the Casa has always been a favorite of my family.
This once-high end property is going to ruin from lack of upkeep, lower quality menus, very slow service at the restaurant, lack of professionalism at the front desk, nasty smells near buildings, lack of charm in decorating landscape for holiday. I have been returning for over 40 years and was so disappointed that I question whether I will return again
This resort is a little oasis in Borrego Springs. The grounds are kept immaculate and planted with a variety of interesting native plants. We had a very nice meal at the restaurant. The coffee shop "Casa Cafe & Market" was closed as it was the morning after Christmas, but there are inviting outdoor seating areas nearby that would be pleasant to use. We stayed here 16 years ago, we think in a casita which we remember as being very nice. This time we chose the garden view room. Though not mentioned in the room's amenities on their website, along with a single-serve coffee maker the room had a small bar area with sink, microwave and mini-fridge which was handy. Pet-free rooms can be had, we were told, on the second floor rooms around the pool. Though early in the evening we could hear our neighbors talking in the next room, by bedtime, the entire resort was quiet. If you are sensitive to fragrance, you may want to mention this upon booking as the room was floral scented, presumably from cleaning products. Being an older resort, there are slight signs of wear on the furniture and carpet, but the room was clean and bed comfortable. Staff were pleasant and accommodating.
Atmosphere, staff, ground
There was no soap in the ladies restroom close to the restaurant.
There were 5 of us. The Casita had 3 bedrooms, a living room, a very large "dining" table and a small breakfast "nook" which contained a small refrigerator, microwave and sink with plenty of glasses and mugs and the ubiquitous coffee maker.. The Casita had two small bathrooms, one of which was "shared" by two of the bedrooms. There are 2 doors leading to the in- ground jacuzzi. (which is contained with-in the "compound" by a solid 5' wall for privacy) The Wi-fi is not password protected. The restaurant is fantastic and bar area is nice. We were there Dec. 13th and 14th for the annual meteor shower. Borrego is a designated "International Dark Sky Community", 2009 the first in California and the second in the entire World. The resort has an out-door theater with many chairs available. The Casita we stayed in is #75 Marigold.
The toilet paper is not up to standard considering the price of the Casita, so bring you own.
We've been coming here since 2016 and love it! The service is great and the grounds and views are amazing! The food and pool side experience is incredible
