Pros:

The hotel was in a great location and staff was very friendly.

Cons:

The hotel itself was fine, but overall I was disappointed with the experience. There was no clear indication when booking that the property was undergoing renovations, and one of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because the gym looked really nice in the photos. When we arrived, we found out the gym was being remodeled and the temporary gym had been set up inside a regular hotel room, which was definitely not what I was expecting.

We also had a few issues with housekeeping during our stay. Our room was not cleaned at one point, and basic items like toilet paper were not always restocked, so I had to reach out to the staff multiple times to ask for things that I would normally expect to be taken care of automatically.

I completely understand that renovations happen, but I think major construction and unavailable amenities should be clearly communicated before guests book. Between the renovations and having to repeatedly ask for basic housekeeping needs, the stay did not quite meet my expectations. I probably would have chosen a different hotel had I known all of this ahead of time.

I wasn’timpressed with the facility, it looked old and dirty. Our toilet warbled when you sat on it.
Pros:

The location was fine. The breakfast wasn’t what I was hoping for, it was cold.

Cons:

We requested first floor when booking because 2 of us have mobility issues. When we arrived they wanted to put us on the second floor. That wouldn’t work so they reluctantly gave us different rooms on first floor.

Decent hotel for the money, but don't expect a first class hotel
Pros:

Given the age of this hotel (built in 1986) it was clean as a whistle. It had obviously been renovated and when I looked, it was longer ago than I thought which to me means it is well taken care of. Hotel staff were friendly. If train whistles bother you (they did not bother the 3 of us) you might not like that sound. The area is a bit sketchy, as the hotel is surrounded by trees. A Dairy Queen is across the street (yes we imbibed) and a family restaurant is about 2 doors down, which is classic "family diner" food (we ate their based on the desk clerk's recommendation). Beware if you get a 2nd floor room as there is no elevator, not a problem for us, but might be for someone else. The breakfast area is extremely small, but had the typical hotel "breakfast included", actually smaller compared to some other chain hotels, again I think because of the age of the hotel. All in all, a decent value for the money.

Where you don’t want to stay because the trains are blasting by the building all night long!!
Pros:

Absolutely the worst night ever of staying in a motel. The main railway lines are right next to this place and they are roaring through all night long and blasting their horns. We had no idea that this place would wind up being the nightmare of our trip!!!
