Ten months after our last visit to Santiago de Compostela and the NH Hotel. This time we brough our english friends with us to samle the Real Spain. We stayed 1 night on Saturday 30 May and then 1 night on Tuesday 2 June after having quickly visited Cedeira Redondela Vigo O Grove Bouzas Samil and San Vicente do Mar. It was really great to see that standards had not dropped at the NH Santiago in the 10 months since our last visit. Fantastic rooms fantastic breakfast and fantastic generous gin and tonic watching the champions league final. AUPA !!
But the cherry on the top has to be the indoor pool. Back in London I swim evergday and it is coforting to know that when we are in Santiago I can happily swim in a relatively warm pool and at 7.30 too 8 am can have the pool to myself along with the sauna. Our next visit too Galicia is in September this time along with staying at our house in Cedeira Redondela we will visit O Coruna and stay at the NH. Hopefully it will reach our expectations based on our stay at the NH Santiago.
Muchas Gracias and see you again soon. Fernando Nieto viajando por Galicia y visitando de Londres.
The hotel was pleasant overall, and the housekeeping team did a great job. Our room was cleaned daily, the bed was made, and towels were replaced regularly. The staff in the breakfast area were particularly helpful and attentive throughout our stay. The location was excellent, and complimentary parking was a nice bonus. We were also impressed by the soundproofing of the room, which ensured a quiet and comfortable stay.
As this is part of the NH Collection brand, we expected a more modern feel. The furniture and interiors are starting to show their age, and the property would benefit from some refurbishment to meet the standards typically associated with the Collection series.
Muy cerca del centro , personal super amable , atentos a todo , súper limpias las habitaciones he instalaciones en general , camas super cómodas , ideal para descansar , piscina perfecta para relajarce después de un día de caminata , desayuno increíble .

Not a True Five-Star Experience. Mold in Shower. Limited Amenities and Services.
I recently stayed at the NH Collection Santiago de Compostela. The hotel has one major advantage: its location. It is close enough to walk to Santiago's historic center and the cathedral in just a few minutes, yet far enough from the congestion that guests arriving by car can easily access the property without navigating the narrow streets of the old city.
Unfortunately, beyond its location, this hotel falls well short of the 5-star standard it advertises.
The shortcomings began before arrival. I never received a pre-arrival email, and a simple request I sent to the hotel went unanswered for two days. Only after I called the day before my arrival did someone finally confirm the request.
Upon check-in, there was no welcome letter, no recognition of any kind, and no effort to explain the hotel's facilities or services.
I had booked a room advertised as having a view. In reality, my room overlooked trees and what appeared to be aging concrete structures either on the hotel grounds or an adjacent property. There was certainly no meaningful view of Santiago de Compostela.
Service throughout the stay was functional but uninspired. There was no bellman or doorman available to assist with luggage. The front desk staff handled check-in efficiently enough, but they never proactively offered assistance, recommendations, or information about the property. In fact, the hotel made virtually no effort to promote its bars, restaurants, amenities, or services. Had I not explored on my own, I would not have known what was available beyond the breakfast room.
Breakfast was average. The buffet was self-service and comparable to what one might find at many 4-star hotels across Europe. A sign said cooked-to-order eggs were available, but no waiter ever approached me during breakfast service. The coffee was awful industrial machine coffee, which felt entirely out of place in a hotel claiming 5-star status.
My room was clean and reasonably comfortable, but it badly needs renovation. The decor appears largely unchanged since the hotel was built in the early 2000s. The television was small and outdated. There were no USB charging ports anywhere in the room, and accessible electrical outlets were surprisingly limited. Guests traveling with laptops, phones, cameras, and other devices may find themselves unable to charge their devices. The lighting controls were unnecessarily complicated, while the air-conditioning controls were far from intuitive.
The bedding was another disappointment. The linens felt like a lower-quality polyester blend. At a 5-star hotel, I expect Frette or Garnier Thiebaut linens. The pillows were equally unimpressive and lacked the comfort associated with upscale accommodations.
The bathroom was similarly underwhelming. Only one hand towel and one bath towel were provided. There was no face cloth and no additional set of towels. Toiletries consisted largely of wall-mounted dispensers. No bar soap was provided, and items such as mouthwash or dental kits were available only upon request. More concerning, there was extensive visible mold in the shower.
Other missing amenities further reinforced the feeling that this is not a luxury property. Robes and slippers were absent. No umbrella was provided. Daily housekeeping was offered, but there was no evening turndown service.
None of these issues individually would ruin a stay. Taken together, however, they create a hotel experience that consistently falls below what travelers reasonably expect from a 5-star property.
The NH Collection Santiago de Compostela is well-located. If it were marketed as a 4-star hotel, I would have few complaints. However, as an advertised 5-star property, it simply does not deliver. All things considered, this hotel is basically a Holiday Inn.
Very clean and well appointed. They welcomed our pet.
Too expensive
Schön, aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen für die Preiskategorie.
Great hotel with great staff. The rooms were large and clean.
The only challenge was the location. The hotel was about 15 minute walk with an initial uphill. There were taxis available if required.
